News today that Newcastle have been interested in 23 year-old Auxerre midfielder Delvin Ndinga, and may still be interested
Delvin Ndinga – Newcastle interested in player?
Apparently the Auxerre midfielder attracted interest from at least three Premier League clubs in the summer, according to the player himself, and one of them was Newcastle United.
The four times capped Congo International has this to say today:
“I preferred to stay in Ligue 1 for this season,”
“I had contact with many foreign clubs like Tottenham, Newcastle and Sevilla and they requested information about me.
“Some made offers but we decided to stop the subject for a year. First I want to prove my worth in the French league.”
Ndinga was for sale in the summer, as Auxerre were ready to sell him so they could reinforce their side in other positions, but the Pointe Noire, Congo born player was obviously keen to stay in France.
But the 5’11” tall player seems to be willing to move at some point, and perhaps even in January.
And we would hope, after the calamitous disaster on August 31st, when Newcastle failed to get in a top striker, that the Tyneside club might bring in as many as three players to fortify the squad in January.
We hope that happens, but we’re not going our breath on that either.
Ndinga began his career back in 2002 with CNFF and joined Congo club Diables Noirs in 2003, and stayed a couple of years before joining Auxerre in July of 2005.
He played for Auxerre B for two seasons (57 appearances and three goals), before playing for the first team from 2007.
He has since played over 60 times for the Auxerre first team with one goal.
