Leon Best – Can He Score The Goals For Magpies – Yes He Can

We are optimistic that Leon Best can get the job done for Newcastle United,  until presumably a new striker arrives on January 31st next year.

Leon Best – can he get the job done – yes he can

Leon needs to be given the chance that Alan Pardew gave him in February,  when all seemed dark and dreary at Newcastle, shortly after talismatic local striker Andy Carroll was sold to Liverpool.

But Andy hasn’t done great, at least at the moment at Liverpool, and Newcastle have done okay, and have started this season very well indeed.

And Leon Best thinks that had shown just how together the Newcastle players are, and we must say that spirit has been apparent on the field this season.

After being outplayed in the first half of every single game thie season (let’s hope we have a nice change tonight), our lads have come back and won every single game, except the first game at home to Arsenal – and that’s not bad.

This is what the 24 year-old Ireland International striker said today:

“It goes to show how together we are as a team and a club, because I don’t think anyone would have backed us to do as well as we have.”

“That’s what normally happens in life – when you are backed into a corner, the real you comes out.”

Newcastle fans will hope that the real Newcastle is what they’ve seen in the four games so far this season, where our lads have shown a never say die attitude, and some good skills too.

And it seems that Joey Barton was a popular guy both on and off the pitch at Newcastle, but we have to think the reality of having left one of the best supported clubs in football, may be playing on his mind just a little bit at the moment – just a hunch.

Leon liked Joey a lot it seems:

“I got on very well with Joey, as well as Jose and Andy, and when we play against them there will be something in there because they are friends off the field as well as on.

“But again, I’m a Newcastle player and he’s at QPR, so we will be talking after the game and not before.”

Tonight’s game will help tell us all where Newcastle are headed this season, and it’s games like tonight where Newcastle must try to extract maximum points, because they will have a difficult time of it against sides who will be pushing for a top six finish in the league this season.

Three points tonight would be a little unbelievable, and will have Newcastle United in 4th place in the Premier League table.

As we said – a little unbelievable.

Howay The Lads!!

Is it not an 8pm kick off? Usually is on MNF. Hopefully Cabaye and tiote have a stormer. Also read Barton is on the right tonight. Jonas v Barton. Jonas biting round his ankles everytime he gets it should make interesting watching.

2-1, Best to score at least one of the goals (can’t believe I’m saying that like but….), Tiote and Joey to be booked.

Got money on the 3-1 away win (25/1).

Got a gut feeling for Obertan to grab the first goal, so may put a bit on that in a min.
