Who is the player between Jonas and Obertan in blog header? Santon?

Was at the game last night. Overrun in midfield; why Pardew played four in there after the first 20 mins I have no idea. Shola abysmal, Jonas very predictable and always turning onto his right as he went at Young, who subsequently had no problem containing him. Saying that, Jonas was covering for Raylor a lot. Obertan lacking touch and confidence. Cabeye couldn’t get near the ball and no-one showed for him when he did.

Marveaux and Ba were at least passing and attempting to retain the ball when they came on, so relatively impressed by them.

All in all, very very naive and inflexible tactics from Pardew.

    Yes it is Santon.

Yesterday~s game was so bad, HBA won’t help.
We had midfielders last night? Why Tim Krul is allowed to kick the ball back to the opposition all night long? If this is AP tactics, play 6 in defense, 4 in attack and that’s it, why bother with midfielders.
If it is Tim Krul’s hope of becoming a playmaker, he should be tought a lesson (with all his good qualities) that was a horrible thing he did. around 8-10 times he did this through our the game. Give the ball to a defender, star an attack. No, we will all wait, until the team go up, stand, each will have a player on them, and then dear Tim will tell them, go a little bit left, a little bit right, he kicks, and give back the ball to QPR. Then, all the players need to run back to defend, loose straight and stamina and motivation.
    GREAT!!!

I watched the full 90 so have no intention of watching that awful performance again.

Quite suprised to read some people have been saying the defence did well. Both full backs were awful. It was only a matter of time before Raylor got ruined and boy did he last night! Simpson was lucky Taraabt doesnt stay out wide so he didnt really have him running at him but when SWP went out there he just walked by Simpson and he was in 1 on 1. Awful performance and the only reason we got a clean sheet was because they couldnt shoot. SWP 2 one on ones missed, Derry two free headers missed from corners, Bothroyd 2 great chances missed, one cleared off the line. We could have lost 6-0 but they kept missing so the defence were awful

next game santon and ferguson at full backs

    The highlights:

3 clean sheets from 4games, unbeaten in 5 games, 8 if you include the back-end of last season, picking up points even though we’re not playing well (Isn’t that the sign of a good team?), 4th in the table, ahead of liverpool, sunderland and qpr, best defence in the league, HBA back in a few weeks, Ba, Tiote, Cabaye, Obertan WILL get some form.

So you want Santon, unproven in the PL and lack of match practice, and Ferguson who hasnt lasted a full 90mins for us yet and is not a full back (both he and Pardew have said this) over Simpson and Taylor who have both been apart of a defence that is the best in the league? That sounds logical to you does it?

Hello everyone! This is my first comment after a year of following.

But I must be a terrible judge of footballer. I thought Obertan was one of Newcastle’s better players last night? Our attacks certainly weren’t coming through the left or centre with the other midfield players swamped!

And you’re correct ToonFly, I feel as though Jonas has no confidence in Ryan Taylor behind him as this new partnership sets up but perhaps it can grow as the weeks go on and Jonas can get back to doing what he does best.

I also feel that the banner is missing Danny Simpson. He saved once again off the line and is a consistent player. He has his critics and many consider him to be a championship player but he’s a regular starter and he’s quickly becoming a better and better player.

Tiote had an off day and Ameobi had a normal day. I suspect he gets picked ahead of others because what he lacks in pace and footwork, he makes up for in knowing how to draw out a freekick and hes a good target for the ball. Demba Ba can actually reach the ball and time his jumps well but it’s no good if he can’t direct it anywhere!

Raylor has so far only played against 2 RW this season Gervinho and SWP and if you look at those 2 games he was awful. See m to remember Duff getting alot of joy when he came over to that side aswell.

Ba looked so much better than Shola when he came on.

Why do we play 2 strikers? 1 is enough with the midfield we have. That way we close the ball down better and attack as a group, we need to play to our strengths last night was pathetic. Pards needed to change things after the first half hour not 10mins to the end poor tactics.

Amazing how so many people watching last night’s match have such differing opinions on overall performance and individual performances.

We got a valuable away point.
Ten of the players gave 100% … everyone’s pretty much agreed that one of them didn’t … yet again.

    It was embarrasing last nyt.
There’s only so long you’ll get away with playing shit & picking up points like.

I actually like Pardew, but last nyt he got his tactics wrong big time.

Another manager brainwashed by Shola. 😉

That performance last night was dreadful. QPR with at least 5 new players making their debut totally outplayed us all game. We should have done much better.

Players at fault: Krul, R.Taylor, S. Taylor and Tiote. They were hopeless.

Both Taylors and Krul did not stop lunging long balls!! How Fking annoying. Obertan and Cabaye hardly had time on the ball as they were constantly trying to wins loose balls from those ridiculous goal kicks. Why in the hell was Krul taking so bloody long in taking them too is even more puzzling. He should have a word and be told to play it short sometimes. Same applies to the Taylors.

Tiote was really bad too and only showed a glimpse of what he can do for us when he gained possession with a perfectly timed and strong tackle and burst forward. Apart from that he was always loosing the ball with very poor passes or just turning on the spot and eventually giving it away. He lacks confidence and match practice I think.

Cabaye played well although he couldn’t create much at all but covered ground superbly.

Simpson played slightly better than Raylor with his great interceptions and blocks. It seems he has pulled his socks up a bit as he knows Santon is breathing down his neck.

Santon should be starting next game for either Raylor or Simpson I don’t really care who tbh.

    Positives:

    Another point and clean sheet.

Were 4th in the table lol

Sammy Ameobi did not fail to impress again even though for only 10min.

Ba and Marveaux showed some class and pace when they came on.

Best played well for me just lacked the proper service, didn’t stop running and trying, made a great turn and shot at target.

With Benny Arfa very soon to come back I can see Best scoring lots of goals for us.

We didn’t play well at all last night but we didn’t get beat. How many times has that been said by Man U & the likes we won’t play 4-4-2 against the top sides. As far as I’m concerned a point is a point. Some people are never satisfied if we’d played great & lost they would be saying tighten up. Saylor & Collo were outstanding & Krull did well in goal we could even have stolen all 3 points if Best’s chance hadn’t been saved. We are 25% of the way to 40 points.
