It seems fairly obvious that young Dan Gosling is very anxious to be given a chance in Newcastle’s starting line-up.
Dan Gosling – deserves a chance
Dan played in the Newcastle Reserve team that hammered Norwich City 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon, and scored two goals and made another, so you cannot do much better than that to get Alan Pardew’s attention.
Assistant manager John Carver was at the game, and was complimentary of the way the England U21 International played and had been applying himself in training, but said he had to be patient too.
Dan thinks he can also score goals from the Newcastle midfield, and that’s sorely needed, since the club have lost their captain Kevin Nolan, who scored 30 goals for the side in the last two seasons, and in his 91 total appearances for the Magpies.
Gosling said this today:
“I will bring a lot of energy and I want to bring some goals to the midfield as well.”
“We have lost 12 goals in Kevin Nolan, so if can score some goals and help the team, hopefully we will be all right.”
None of Newcastle’s midfield players on Monday night at QPR had particularly good games, with the defense again being the star show for the team.
And especially the two center-backs Colo and Steven Taylor, who have been Newcastle’s best two players, along with goalkeeper Tim Krul, so far this season.
Dan has made only three appearances for the side since arriving a year last summer from Everton, and wasn’t even in the squad for the game at QPR on Monday night..
One of those appearances was a start at Scunthorpe in the Carling up, so we would hope the 21 year old gets his chance soon, and maybe even at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.
If not then, than in the Carling Cup at Nottingham Forest next Tuesday evening – he deserves it.
