Jonas Gutierrez is back in the Argentina squad, but why Newcastle captain Coloccini is not, is a bit of a mystery to us.
Fab Coloccini – deserving of Argentina recall
Coloccini had an excellent season last season, when he proved he was good enough for the English Premier League, and he’s been even better so far this season.
Colo provides a great example to other Newcastle players by his 100% commitment to the cause, and that should rub off on other players.
Colo was left out of last year’s World Cup squad but he took it like the gentleman he is, and he didn’t moan and groan about it, but said he would be hoping that his country did very well.
But one of the weaknesses of Diego Maradona’s squad during the World Cup in South Africa was central defense, so most Newcastle fans wondered why Colo wasn’t in the squad.
And whereas Jonas Gutierrez was in the squad, playing way out of position at right back, Colo has still not been recalled by new Argentine manager Alejandro Sabella.
Jonas was in the squad that played Venezuela (won 1-0), Nigeria (won 2-0) and Brazil (0-0) earlier this month, and he talked about the Argentine national team today:
“For Argentine players, the national team is very important.” “To be playing with your country is something really exciting.”
“It was the new manager’s first squad, and to be involved in that was really important for me.”
“I want to be in the next squad as well, so I have to work hard and do my best for my club if I’m to be involved again.”
We have to hope that Fabricio Coloccini get s a call up soon for the National aide, because certainly Alejandro Sabella must know he’s now playing near the top of his form for Newcastle United.
Jonas currently has 20 appearances and one goal for Argentina, and Colo has 34 appearances with one goal for his country.

Comment #1from the last post:
Pardew will always play 4-4-2 at home, which is the right thing to do but away at villa he needs a 5 man midfield. I expect best to be playing and santon surely has to start now. heres my team for sat:
___________Krul___________
Simmo___Saylor__Collo___Santon
Obertan__Cabaye__Tiote__Jonas
__________Gosling_____
____________Best
Or this for a rational shake-up ? looks more creative to me.

Simmo___Saylor__Collo___Santon
Gosling__Cabaye__Tiote__Marveaux

Comment #5I agree fully with your first team, chiekmate! Gosling free role behind Best!
As for Collocini and Argentina, it baffles me how he can be left out of their squad. Considering in the last world cup Demichaelis was particularly shit! Collo’s so much better!

Comment #7As I have said before, I don’t mind he’s not in the Argies squad. It means he doesn’t f off on international duty and then comes back injured. He’s one player we can’t afford to lose due to injury from an international.

Comment #9As i’ve said before, i’d rather he didn’t get a call up to the argies squad. I hate international breaks and we can’t afford him going off and coming back injured.

Comment #10I can see the villa giving us a hiding we seem weak in midfield and up front.
