Newcastle certainly played well today in getting a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa, which is never an easy place to get a result.
Alan Pardew – at Villa Park today
And Alan Pardew was delighted with the performance, and said it was a terrific display from the lads after the game:
“I thought we were terrific today,” “We gifted them a goal but we dominated possession and we were awaiting our chance.
“Our two central midfield players, Yohan Cabaye and Cheik Tiote were outstanding and I thought we deserved to win.”
“Shay was an outstanding servant for this club and we know he is a good shot-stopper and he showed that with two or three good saves,”
Cheick Tiote had a great game today, and Yohan Cabaye again looked a class player, and was unlucky not to score, but that first Newcastle goal cannot be too far away for the French International.
Newcastle went behind when both Coloccini and Krul could have done better to stop Agbonlahor’s goal after just 13 minutes, but the England International nevertheless took his chance brilliantly.
And it was that man Leon Best, once again, who got Newcastle’s equalizer after 57 minutes, for his third goal of the season.
Newcastle looked a very good side today and gave as good as they got.
