Alan Pardew Delighted With Newcastle’s Terrific Display

Newcastle certainly played well today in getting a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa, which is never an easy place to get a result.

Alan Pardew – at Villa Park today

And Alan Pardew was delighted with the performance, and said it was a terrific display from the lads  after the game:

“I thought we were terrific today,” “We gifted them a goal but we dominated possession and we were awaiting our chance.

“Our two central midfield players, Yohan Cabaye and Cheik Tiote were outstanding and I thought we deserved to win.”

“Shay was an outstanding servant for this club and we know he is a good shot-stopper and he showed that with two or three good saves,”

Cheick Tiote had a great game today, and Yohan Cabaye again looked a class player, and was unlucky not to score, but that first Newcastle goal cannot be too far away for the French International.

Newcastle went behind when both Coloccini and Krul could have done better to stop Agbonlahor’s goal after just 13 minutes, but the England International nevertheless took his chance brilliantly.

And it was that man Leon Best, once again, who got Newcastle’s equalizer after 57 minutes, for his third goal of the season.

Newcastle looked a very good side today and gave as good as they got.

Great fun to watch, and still things to improve. I welcome the day when we play at 100% of our potential, it’s gonna be a blast!
Marveux on LW against Blackburn, push Gutti on the right.

Two reposts, as Ed is churning these out double-quick.

    Right, I’m back.

I would love if someone could work out Best’s mins/goals ratio, from those 17 appearences. I think I’m correct when saying, he hasn’t completed 90 mins in any of those, some he’s only had 15-20mins.

I reckon it would total about 9 in 13 complete games. Would be interesting to find out.

Cabaye’s passing/vision is sublime. His shot is wicked. His tackling is strong. His workrate/stamina is excellent. Complete midfielder.

    Tailor made for the Premiership.

I thought this before today, and today kind of confirmed it, does anyone think agbonlahor would be an ideal striker for us? He looks fairly strong, and is very fast with a good finish so could latch onto any balls put through by guttierez, ben arfa or the increasingly impressive cabaye…just a thought.

Anyway, when santon is back it looks like we will have a very good team, I think our best team would be

    Simpson saylor colo santon
    Gutti cabaye tiote marveux
    Ben arfa

Yes, agbonlahor would be good for us in the system. Can’t wait to add magic man Ben Arfa into the mix if we’re going to hopefully put in performances like that more often.

I think that if Hatem had played today we may just have got the win. Looking forward to seeing him on Tuesday and next weekend.

More and more impressed with Marveaux everytime I see him. Him, Ben Arfa and Cabaye playing intricate triangles would be mouthwatering.

Hail Alan Pardew. He has done well so far with limited resources. Cabaye…….well, the question is, how long can we keep him at the club lol?

We didnt go after “Ibangedawh0re” because he had issues with Barton in the past… He would be tailor made for our squad… been saying this since last jan…

Put HBA in a team that dominates our 2/3rds of the pitch like we did for 75% of the time today and we will be a different class. Add that to Marveux who used the ball very well and made some clever passes.

    Cabaye had like 4 shots?

2 of which forced brilliant saves from Given. (THAT VOLLEY!!!! )

Hit the crossbar! (Was not expecting that to go anywhere near the goals)

and that close range shot where he should have composed himself or chipped it for an onrushing player far post…

To me, it seemed like the performance was the product of a good team discussion before hand almost, as a lot of the play was going through Cabaye rather than just knocking it long.

    fantastic start to the season with next 3 games all very winnable;
    forest(cup) A
    blackburn H
    wolves A

if we get ourselves on to about 13 points and into the next round of the cup and still unbeaten by the spurs game it will be the best start to the premiership that i can remember.

    as for forest

    Simpson Perch Coloccini RTaylor
    Guthrie Gosling Cabaye Marveaux
    ———-Ba Lovenkrands

Elliot STaylor Ameobi Ameobi BenArfa Smith Ferguson

5 games in and still unbeaten… A fluke? Time will tell.
I’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again, i believe we are stronger than last season. Once we get the new system in working order and players are properly bedded in, then we’ll perform better than last season.
I’m sill reluctant to put us in a better position than 10th when the season is over, but after this display i so want to…
Good match, and great to see Cabaye and Tiote working so well.
Tiote isn’t even all the way there yet! Still have some quirks to sort out.

Cayabe was outstanding today! I can see him as a future captain of the club.

Plus the newcastle fans were outstanding today too! They out sung villa all game!

I think Obertan is trying to do to much with the ball. He needs to get back to basics and learn to put in the early ball. I think he has the skills to be a very good player.

great game from the lads today truely deservrd all 3 points..Cabaye certainly MOTM for me.. as for the rest of the squad everyone played well tiote looked good a few cheap give aways but sharpness looks like its coming back jonas was solid as always and obertan was decent i thought.. back 4 solid villa had a few lucky bounces and we are lucky that bent is trash and wasted 2 golden opportunities.. Raylor is getting away with it at left back and to all those who are quick to complain about obertoon where was Nsomnia today the man so many were screaming for during the window?? couldnt run circles around raylor?? happy we didnt overpay for him.. the subs were good except shola but we will only improve sammy is gaining invaluable exp. in these matches and so is krul.. liked our game and passing today we keep it up we will be a tough game for anyone..HWTL!!!!

I think u’re wrong there mate, Gutti keeps better possession than Obertan does imo. But Obertan is more direct, u’re right on that.
However, i honestly say, even if his confidence is a bit shot but rebuilding, i’ve expected more from him. He can do so much with his pace, but looks like he loses interest sometimes.
He had a few god ones today, giving Warnock good trouble a few times and beating Ireland and some other bloke in a run on the right side to cross in.

But i can’t pick Obertan over Gutti, atleast not yet, he needs to work allot harder and belive a bit more in his pace and the fact that he can beat others if he bothers to try.

Slightly out of context but in the premier league Leon best has played 1030 mins equaling to 11.4 games and scored 11 goals giving him a goals to minutes played ratio in the Prem of 1.27

nobby sol – I would NOT play Perch anywhere anytime.

Great result today and should have won if not for Given’s heroics.

Cabaye is a brilliant signing and Marveaux should play on the left with Gutierrez on the right.

Best and Ba are by far our best pairing up-front. Sammi Ameobi again impressed me, this kid should get at least 30min on the pitch.

I would play him from the start against Forest with Best or Ba with him up front.
