There is potentially some very good news being reported in the Sunday Sun today.
Davide Santon – may be ready for next Saturday?
And that is that Davide Santon’s knee injury is likely to be not as severe as first thought, and it may be that he is available for next Saturday’s home game against an improving Blackburn Rovers side.
Alan Pardew talked about the current injury prognosis of the Italian youngster:
“He’s had fluid taken from his knee and we think, fingers crossed, that will be OK.” “Maybe he’ll be available for next weekend,”
“If that doesn’t cure the problem we think he’ll probably have an operation in there where we just go in and tidy it up. It’s not a cartilage, just a little bit of scar tissue.”
So we hope the removal of the fluid will do the trick and he doesn’t need the key-hole surgery he was going to undertake tomorrow.
It’s very likely a similar thing to what Dan Gosling suffered from last January, and the removal of scar tissue in Dan’s knee seemed to be the solution, although Pardew held the former Everton player back a little, to ensure he recovered fully.
When players have these operations, the scar tissue often becomes a problem in itself, and even if Davide is not available for next Saturday’s game, it is good news if he doesn’t need the key-hole surgery.
But on the side of caution, the Newcastle medics will need to ensure the lad is fully fit before he’s named in the squad for the Blackburn game.
We’ll hope for the best.
Comments welcome.

Interesting stat on Tiote having an 84% pass completion, just goes to show the bellend armchair managers that come on here ripping into players have the wrong glasses on.
Plenty have been spouting forth on how bad Tiote was yesterday how he was always losing the ball etc, yet he was BETTER than four out of five passes completed.
Some bellends just cannot keep their fingers from making a fool of them.

Comment #90If the start of the season is anything to go by, Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea are the ones to fear.
Then again, there’s still 33 matches left of the season…

Comment #91Special K:
I haven’t really seen enough of Santon, Marveaux and Ben Arfa to make a judgement. They all have good reputations and as long as they are over their injuries you are probably very close with your team.
I don’t want to jinx him, but Sammy looks special.
It is about time we had some home grown talent and with Sammy, Vuckic and Ferguson things are looking up.

Comment #92Difficult to know what will be the team for Tuesday cause of the injuries and the turn over.
Maybe this:
——————–Krul———————
Simpson—Colo—Perch—Fergie—-
———Guthrie——Gosling———–
Raylor——–Ben arfa——–Marv—
————–Lovenkrands————–
I keep Krull, Simpson and Colo to give some stability (Colo and Simpson will have time to rest during the international Break in october).
Being left footed, Fergie is an option Pard can’t leave aside.
Guthrie and Gosling are a very experimental midfield, but Cabaye and Tioté dramatically need to rest, it will be a very long season for them. A shame Vuckic is injured. And Abeid isn’t ready now i guess…
Raylor can be good in a place who better suit him. Ben arfa as a starter would be great. For Marv, it will depend of what Pard want to do next week end.
And Lovenkrands as a starter to give some rest to Best and Ba, and cause Shola played a lot more than him until now (would have been a good game for Ranger, well, he can only blame himself).

Comment #93Lads, i made a huge mistake yesterday:
I was absolutely delighted by the team, despite the draw.
I was thinking “What a beautifull play!”
Then, i watched Barca against Osasuna.

OK fot the Back four, but the CM? Tioté and Cabaye will be starter all the season, and they are international. And a midfielder make really more runs than a Full back.
So i think Pard will spare them.

Comment #104For me, it’s better that the teams that can close in on us or overtake us loose, rather than the fact that they’ll pass us if they draw/win.
We all know that Scum will be below us this season. No doubt.

Comment #108a think Ba needs to start at forest get his fitness up even if jus give him 60mins and replace him with Sammy or Loven, Ben Arfa will 100% not start he will get maximum of 30mins its not worth the risk chucking him straight in

To see Ba associated to Ben arfa, would be great. Cause his pace combined with Ben arfa passing skill could be our deadliest weapon.
However, Pard must take care of his knee. Less he play, better it is.
And for, Messi, well, almost one goal per game, what can we say more?
To be honnest, the way Osasuna give up very early in the game (in fact maybe even before the game begun) is one of the most shamefull things i have witnessed on a football pitch.

The fans didn’t sing something like that:
“THEY GOT 27,000 EMPTY SEATS!”
I got a question at this subject: why 27, 000? Was it the former stadium of light’s capacity?
