An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #2Not so much negativity on here these days. Although I’m sure it will come back with one bad result.
All the fans who were ‘proved right’ on deadline day and were on their high horse for days, is there any chance they can now come back and say that those that were positive were in fact the fans who so far have been ‘proved right’. Last night showed that we dont just have a first XI, and in fact we do have some depth in there and we have some quality players knocking on the door. Now unbeaten in 11 going back to Liverpool last season, the team spirit seems to be as high as it ever has been and the football we are starting to play is far better than the long ball we played last season.

I fore one were happy with the summer window and got a little bit slated for that. BUT! There was those who agreed with me. We all wanted a nr 9 but thats history for now.
Keep the good run going!

Nobody has been proved wrong or right, except Llambias and Ashley who have proved themselves as totally incompotent at bringing in the targets we had set out.

Comment #6At times I have thought I was deluding myself with my belief in this new set up. To have all the pundits and all my top four supporting friends question the fact that we would even stay up this season proved WRONG. Is such a buzz! Now I know it’s early days and all that, but I’m happy and I think we are improving steadily. Shows to go you that however great we thought the likes of Nolan and Barton were, we don’t need em if we are to progress.

Comment #7@Otterspocket- I am as happy as anyone else in the toon and am loving our results. Some of our performances have not been great but at least we’re showing some fight and not giving up. As for you being proved right I will definetly not say that. We are 1 or 2 injuries away from a crap defense. If Colo or Saylor get hurt we’re left with Perch who contributed to us conceding 3 at Forest who are at the bottom of the Championship. We are playing Raylor at LB who is trying his best but is not a solution. Hopefully Santon can stay fit and prove his worth but it’s yet to be seen. Question marks still remain over Simmo and we dont have any cover for him currently with Tavernier on loan again. Midfield looks good and up front well we are still short of that quick little striker that always looks to run in behind. Getting closer but as most of us fans wanted we are only about 3 players short of having a very good side and had the funds to get them in before this season started instead of taking unecessary risks again.

Didn’t we sign a cracker of a centre back from France in the window. I think he was young, 18ish like. Can he cover or is he not available to the squad?

Comment #10Becuase of all the clamour of bringing in a marquee number 9,really deflected the fact that we needed to shore up the defence,Pieters ans Santon was what was needed, but I think it was always going to be one or the other, with Best lookin good and Sammi showing a lot of promise I really think that another defender was more important than that expensive number 9

Comment #12barryvenison – yes, interestingly despite all the hoohah about not getting another striker in, I am more worried at the thought of injuries to Colo and / or Saylor and the lack of central defender cover – only Williamson has shown that he is capable of some consistency at the PL level despite his poor form before his injury this season. If those two stay fit we can probably cope with other changes in and out – but can’t wait to see HBA running off striker !

Im not saying our squad is perfect, even those who were positive were not blind and could see that a couple of defenders were needed, what im saying tho is so far thos who were positive have been proved right to be positive. We could see what Pardew was trying to do with the midfielders he brought in, and we could see that the squad was decent. Those that were negative had every right to be negative about the lack of defensive cover and that nippy striker but they could not see past that to see the rest of the good players that were coming in.

Comment #18Magpie Man – isn’t there a problem with Situ’s contract / signing for Swansea? Also, I heard he wanted to be more sure of 1st team football than he would have been for us.
I must say it’s a while – not since days of Charlie Insomnia, Milner (early) etc – when we seem to have so many talented YOUNG players – I’m including Ferguson, Abeid, Vukcic, Sameobi and I also think Tavernier can make it.

And magpie6699 you are right about Situ. He was going to sign for Swansea from Lens (he’s not a free agent) but FIFA blocked that transfer as it was too late or something like that. But I think he’ll get his transfer trough in january.

Comment #25incompetent at bringing in players?? tiote, cabaye, marveux, abied, santon etc etc….
other targets seemed to stay with their current clubs and have had new contracts….not really sure what could have been done about that? with the exception of Bryan Ruiz….who looks utter shite any way. oh and then there is Gervinho, who choose arsenal over us for champs league – not much we could have done about that either!! Still have to disagree with you,the most frustrating part was knowing we could have a very decent team if only some ambition was shown and a few more quid spent on the reinforcements we desparately need.

Comment #31For all the negativity and doom and gloom that surrounded the summer transfer window we have made an excellent start to the season.
From the views expressed by some posters in the summer we would be expected to be fighting it out round the bottom of the table right now with no goals to our name and alot against.
However it hasnt turned out that way so far. As it stands we’re one of two unbeaten teams so far this season, Manure being the other, we’re sat in 4th place and we’re through to the last 16 of the carling cup.
Add to the fact that our team is starting to gel and we’re beginning to play the creative passing football that makes us the Entertainers.
Only way this season could be going any better so far is if I didnt have to panic everytime Colo or Taylor goes down haha.

Fair point – but I don’t think it was for lack of trying?
We can’t attract 20mil+ strikers and those that cost less could be a risk for a number of reasons – but that is a boring debate.
Like I said, loving our start but agree with WWJBD, our first real test will be the spuds…?

We drew to a ruined and torn apart Arsenal, we luckily beat a poor Sunderland, Fulham were crap, we nearly lost to Scunny, Qpr ruined us and should of won, Villa arent what they used to be and had a poor game giving us so much space though we did play well and Notts put us to the sword.
Quality teams like Man Utd, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton, Liverpool, Stoke, Bolton(when fit), Sunderland (on form) and Arsenal (on form) will not let us slide on our luck
