The goal-scorer and hero  Demba Ba is in the middle there

BBC interview with Demba Ba after the game today

This player is so modest it’s ridiculous, but he scored three great goals today, and surely there are more to come,  now that he’s finally up to speed.

i did not see the game, and will have to watch it sometime later on.
Does anyone know where to watch the whole game on the net?

Was the game as good, as it sounds like?
Should we have scored more goals?
Did Ben Arfa play like a God, when he came on?

  • 3 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:34 PM

thought it was made for Benny when he came on, one on one with the keeper a thought he was just going to dink it over but he tried squaring it for Besty, bless him and besty didnt even do the same thing on edge of box if he had benny could of smashed one home but he shot and it went over haha but never mind good win and overall very good team performance

  • 4 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:35 PM

we should really try get Lass Bangoura he’s awesome tortured Madrids backline tonight

  • 5 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:40 PM

    Ronaldo Hat-Trick – 6-2

  • 6 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:44 PM

just heard Blackburn manager Keen saying that we only won because of the red card they got…
He says that one point for them should have happened.
    Is that purely bullocks?

  • 7 Moe-NUFC // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:45 PM

@2 the game is even better than it sounds
No Benny wasn’t a god-like, it was more of feelin some of the heat of premier league games
And yop we prolly coda scored more easily :)

  • 8 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:47 PM

@6 that is absolute tosh. Even his fans on some of the boards like are slating him for being delusional again. Guy is a tool! haha

  • 9 wingspan // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:48 PM

Comes across as a lovely bloke. Really pleased for him!! Cant wait for match of the day!!

  • 10 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:50 PM

Kean said the third goal was the turning point because we scored, Olssen picked up a yellow and Dann was injured

What a utter load of tosh we out played them for 90% of the game, had the lions share of the ball and created chances over and over again

  • 11 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:50 PM

so you are saying that 5-1 or 6-1 would have shown how the game really was?

Anywhere that i can see the game now?

  • 12 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:51 PM

WWJBD remember when that guy was saying kean doesn’t lie the other week and should be our manager? Think keano proved us right today haha!

  • 13 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:53 PM

Andy haha aye bet he is a bit red in the face (as I should be about saying Tiote was shocking apparently haha)

  • 14 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:56 PM

Haha so you should be! I thought tiote was v good today. Broke up play v well. Seemed to be getting forward a lot more and didn’t just look like a normal defensive mid. Still a few heart attack moments from 1 or 2 of his passes mind.

  • 15 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:56 PM

A hope Blackburn get relegated just because a hate Steve Kean he’s just a total tw*t he actually thinks hes a good manager but he’s not he’s just a tw*t and a drink driving one at that

  • 16 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 8:59 PM

problem with Tiote is atleast once a game he tries a first time pass without actually looking where he’s passing it and it always goes to they players haha but he only did it once today was tremendous all game covers well for defenders and offered a good option going forward aswel, but everyone is entitles to tha own opinion wether that be justified or not

  • 17 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:01 PM

btw we must get Junior Hoillet in january on a pre contract for the summer..
never knew Arda Turan signed for Atletico Madrid mind

  • 18 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:02 PM

Haha tbf I admit he wasent shocking (however I have been on the pop since 2 so am prone to a overexaggeration) I still think he was poor 1st half did pick up in the 2nd though but he dances around the ball in stupid areas when he can just pick out a short pass and get rid of any danger…much like he used to last season

Also was Guti trying to stake claim on the RW spot? He drifted over there a fair bit today Obertan looked worried haha

  • 19 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:03 PM

Can’t get him in jan as he is in england. Should defo put a bid in. Every time he had a run at raylor he did him. Woulda scored if it wasn’t for colo’s great tackle. Also GT89 you’re analysis on tiote is spot on haha. WWJBD what did you think was wrong with tiote?

  • 20 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:05 PM

Holliets is a real player and he must see that Blackburn arent going well for him but where would we play him?

  • 21 geordiefinn // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:05 PM

Try this one. Newcastle-Blackburn match is not available yet, tomorrow it is…

  • 22 geordiefinn // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:10 PM

Btw I’m sure that Bruce was at SJP today to check Hoilett. The left-side is their problem atm, and Hoilett is a leftwinger. Hopefully I am wrong as I’d like to see us signing Hoilett. I’d use him either as striker or as second-striker. Wonderful player, and only 20 years old..

  • 23 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:11 PM

In the first half? Or in general?

Pretty much the same answer to be fair he doesnt get his head up enough to see passes when he goes on one of his dances, tries to do to much and takes to much time on the ball when others are begging for the ball.

He isnt diving into tackles anymore which is good though

  • 24 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:11 PM

I think Oba play well today compair to his last few games…i felt that he was lacking of confidence still.

But remb he’s still young at 22 yrs! He can improve, lets hope so..

  • 25 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:11 PM

    thanks mate
will give it a go tomorrow then.
    But tell me, friends..
Did we play the whole game as we did most of the game against Villa last weekend?

  • 26 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:12 PM

Hoilett is a nice player for us but is he too expensive for us?

  • 27 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:13 PM

I would love Holliet but both Ba and Best look good up front so far and our LW is covered with Guti Marv and Ferguson

I’d hate us to buy him then have him sat on the bench its a waste and it will hamper his development

  • 28 gorgonzola // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:14 PM

What is more important than the result here, I have noticed, we have a spring in our step, a confidence, a relaxed non rushed attack, a purpose that I haven’t seen since SBR.

I tell you Pards could be onto something. The players are positively competing for places a spirit is there you can see it in the body language on the field.

I for one hope we DO get a no. 9 and I hope Santon gets in there. We do need some more players in Jan time in case of injuries we have seen what happens when HBA gets injured.

I have as a fan of his club since 92 ( I started watching the premiership then my country had no exposure of it )
Enjoyed this clubs approach to football. The Ginolas, the Lees, The Asprillas, the Robert etc. We are slowly crawling to that former glory if I may say things are looking up. Keep the faith.

    HWTL. I love you NUFC..

  • 29 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:15 PM

i can’t see him being too much. Cut price deal in jan would be nice. If only i ran this club! Any good freebies next year? Carr will probably already be scouring that market for next year

  • 30 NUFC 1892 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:16 PM

  • 31 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:16 PM

Did anyone else notice when HBA came on our passing game just seemed to click

Was also wonderful that not a single person was sitting as soon as HBA stripped his gear off and got ready to come on

  • 32 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:17 PM

Best wanted to scored too much ald thats why he didnt tried to layoff for HBA.

He is still trying to prove himself very hard…maybe for the no.9?

He have tried his best..he is not the no.9 we are looking for. Thats for sure.

  • 33 geordiefinn // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:18 PM

Hoilett can also play as a right winger as he did today, so he would also give some competition to Obertan. Remember he would not cost more than 5 million so I’d definetely buy him. Lovenkrands will probably leave after this season as his contract runs out so in Hoilett we’d have a very good replacement for Peter.

  • 34 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:18 PM

Left back and Striker needed in Jan.

  • 35 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:19 PM

YES! I noticed that too. Every time he had the ball, he somehow managed to squize through a pass. He seemed to acknowledge his limitations when it comes to trying to dribble 3-4 people(!!!) and quickly passed the ball.
Him and Marveux playing the passing game would be so extremely fast, i doubt that even Best or Ba could keep up with it, especially HBAs passes, they came from nowhere.
Hence our need for a quick, nimble striker. Was fantastic to see him on the ball, dangerous EVERY time he had it.

  • 36 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:19 PM

SS2 after motd i am watching the whole match again so i don’t miss half of it through a jumpy stream haha. WWJBD i will get back to you on that point but we had the extra man at that time as well remember.

  • 37 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:20 PM

He’s out of contract summer 2012 mate ;) But i suspect there’ll be a host of clubs after him by then. He knows his potential, can’t see him signing an extension at Blackburn.

  • 38 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:22 PM

Jonas is running in the Middle and to the right side of the field as often now…why? He got a shot in the middle and a sole effort on his flank (right)

  • 39 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:24 PM

i said it the other day.. about Pardew that is…
he is the best manager we have had since Sir Bobby!
And all respects to Sir Bobby, bur comparing the two gents, i have to say that Pardew is on his way to doing better than Sir Bobby.
Come in mind Sir Bobby had lots of funds backing him to buy who he wanted.
Thats nor the case today with Pardew.
Sir Bobby is a true hero of Newcastle, and true legend!
If we win one of the cups this year, and qualifie for europe next year, i for one will look at Pardew as a Newcastle legend.

  • 40 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:25 PM

Jonas did a good through ball to hatem then layoff to best but he cant finish it…

  • 41 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:25 PM

Yeah I liked that he would wait for a pass then look up quickly see what was happening and then either ball out to the wing or just drive foward. Thought Marv should of come on earlier imo Guti looked like when he got clattered he picked up a knock

True we did have the extra man and that would make a huge difference and you could be right would like to know what you think after viewing it as its very different than being in St James haha I could of just be caught up in the glee of seeing HBA get on the pitch

  • 42 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:27 PM

Hoillet would be a class signing a cant see Jonas being here next season so he can be his replacement and he can play both wings or upfront so hes versatile and better still Hoillet has got an end product

  • 43 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:27 PM

I admire your respect for Pardew, but u cannot think, that after 9 months in charge, Pards is on his way to be better than SBR. Lets give it atleast two seasons of finishing in the top 4. Then he’ll be on par with SBR.
Saying anything else is premature imo, and we do not have enough evidence to conclude that, by faaaaaar.
Lets not get ahead of ourselfes. We’ve had an excellent start, but we’ve had our share of luck aswell.

  • 44 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:27 PM

why do we have to get a striker in january?
We have two excellent ones allready!

  • 45 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:28 PM

Jonas reverse pass to hba was quality. He needs to do that sort of thing more. Him being in a more mobile creative team will see him flourish i think. Especially one that counters as quick as we do. Obertan and jonas are key to that.

Also lads lets not go talking him up too much yet. Still a long season ahead with a smallish squad. Wolves away will be a tough tough game.

  • 46 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:28 PM

Jeeeeez Barcelona winning 3-0 after 25mins against Atletico Madrid who had only conceded 2 all season before today

  • 47 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:31 PM

HBA – a world class player in the making, i’ll be bold enough to make that statement.
Gutti didn’t have allot to do today tbh, when he was subbed by Marveux i thought it was the correct call, as Gutti also didn’t seem to be able to make the most of things as he usually does.
It’s scary to bench Gutti, but could be that Marveux gets the nod at Wolves…
Then again, dunno if we’ll be as offensive there, Wolves are an unpredictable team atm. Win 3-0 one game, loose 4-0 the next.
Probably the game i feel most uneasy about since Arsenal tbh…

  • 48 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:32 PM

Still thinks that Best have much to prove.

  • 49 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:32 PM

Wolves away will be a very tough game next week, very physical side good thing is our midfield are technically brilliant and yet not compromising the defensive duties so Cabaye and Tiote should cope with O’hara and Henry and our pace going forward is as good as any team in the league in my opinion.

Messi 190 goals in 272 appearances

  • 50 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:33 PM

    Simpson is always improving…

  • 51 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:34 PM

am going for a nice 2-1 win against Wolves but a would be happy with a draw in all honesty

  • 52 Klatoon // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:36 PM

Damn,i was on to good money if Barca dont win by a 3 goal margin :-(

  • 53 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:36 PM

davis_toons – when? he was terrible today

  • 54 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:36 PM

Oh I wouldnt go as far to say he was that good just yet still has a lot to prove imo Guti seems to be playing very defensively while Raylor is there when Santon gets in the team I think Guti will get back to his old ways

I think he avoid his big runs down the flank these days because he knows if he loses it Raylor is totally exposed whereas El Toro would of coped

Wolves are just a pain in the backside quite frankly haha hope Tiote knocked Kelvin out though just for Barton :)

  • 55 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:37 PM

I dare not say weather we might or might not win, i’ll watch the match and celebrate if i can.
    I’m uneasy about this one…

  • 56 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:38 PM

Actually a think am being to harsh on Simo, he is improving game by game but today he gave Olsen to much time to cross for their goal and couple of other times he just let them cross instead of sticking a tackle in

  • 57 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:38 PM

Players needs to run into position to get the kind of pass from Jonas..

Former players Nolan too slow and wont run into the kind of positon Hatem will run into…to get the pass so there is no chance Jonas will make those pass formerly..

  • 58 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:38 PM

Disagree that Simmo was terrible I thought he was solid but made a few very stupid mistakes however he is getting better and hopefully will NEVER try a back heel in front of our goal again

  • 59 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:39 PM

The kind of movement that “Owen” will run into either to create space or lurk defenders away…

  • 60 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:40 PM

In the stoke game Owen did one for Nani to score.

  • 61 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:41 PM

    thanks mate.
Sir Bobby was a great man, and a true idol for any man!
He was a great manager, but how many times did we end in top 4 with him as manager?
How many trophys did we win with him as manager?
Pardew is a man everyone respects.. The players, the fans, the board etc..
He is not only our manager, but also our spokesman!
Remember the tragedy in Norway in july?
Pardew went public saying how sorry he and the club was.. Not just because of the tragedy, but also because one norwegian toon fan died on that tragic day.
The best season start in 16 years.
Lots of quality in the squad, but one man has to combine all that quality together.
As i wrote the other day on a danish site… “I would not want any other manager, than Pardew right now”
    And i mean that 100%!!
    What a character he is.
I know the season has only just started, but what an excellent one that is, eh?
Points earned, cannot be taken from us. Remember that gents…
I said before the season startet, that a 6th place was our destination..
    I still believe that.

  • 62 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:41 PM

Wonder what the MOTD tw*ts have to say about us tonight then

  • 63 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:42 PM

Santon will be on bench next week if he comes through training

  • 64 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:44 PM

Sim was doing well today…a good run to support the attack and just had a mistake by not marking well enough..

  • 65 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:45 PM

WWJBD — I kind of apologised for my comment on Simo haha

  • 66 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:45 PM

    Knock out “Kelvin” indeed ;)
And HBA might not be world class right now, that’s true, i should’ve spescified that, but he will be, of that i’m sure.
About the backtracking, Jonas is a forward going player, and he likes to do that, but he’s a fantastic team player aswell.
However, i can’t help think that this frustrates him a bit, he helped Enrique allot, now he’s helping Raylor, he must become restless and think that he wants to go forward more, and let the defenders defend. I certainly would.
I’m not sure where i’m going with this, lol, but in his interview today, reading between the lines, i can’t help feel that he wants “more” maybe. I think he’ll leave next summer, and we shouldn’t wait forever to start Marveux in that case.
He’s a great passer/crosser, how long we’ll we wait before we realize our potential in our passing game
    through him?
If the team plays well, then don’t change it is whats Pardew is thinking, but with players like HBA and Marveux on the pitch, i can’t help think we’d do even better going forward…

  • 67 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:45 PM

Really like to see how Santon in the team. How good is he? Strong like the bull who never seems to fall…

  • 72 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:48 PM

davis_toon – Santon is a player with massive promise hes a typical italian defensively but brilliant going forward aswel he loves getting the ball at his feet doing one two’s and running and even cuttin in and having a long range strike he’s got such a strike on his right foot

You still do not believe we will end higher than 10th?

  • 75 BigKirky // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:50 PM

I was at the game. Just caught up with the comments while barca game is on.

I thought we got better and better right the way through to 90mins. I totally agree with people, that Obertan had a really good game as he was attacking the opposition and did it as the main outlet today.

Tiote looked like he was almost back to his old self too.

Great reception for Hatem and some eye-candy passing inter-play in the second half I thought. When Ben Arfa and Marveaux were on, the passing looked so easy and second nature. As if it was like, this passing malark isn’t hard, look how easy it is for us. Great stuff.

What iv noticed already about Demba Ba is that when he shoots, he’s hitting the target or very nearly hitting the target with his shots and that is a sign of quality. How people slating him before couldn’t comprehend that his lack of energy was probably due to Ramadan is beyond me. Looked strong, willing and lethal today.

Great performance lads and well done Alan Pardew.

  • 76 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:50 PM

Rtaylor in the 2nd half did better with his defensive header to prevent a goal scoring chance..

  • 77 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:52 PM

Haha you did aye but I didnt see that until after I posted mate sorry

I bleeding hate Henry horrible footballer and a thug I wont lose any sleep if Tiote does knock him out
I will still reserve my judgement on Hatem for a while some good signs so far but is yet to have a good run of games for us (through injury admittedly) but adapting to our league might be a issue for him he likes time on the ball and a few teams in this league wont let you have that

  • 78 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:53 PM

Every will have their chance for the breakthough..and they have to grab it once it happen during the game / training…

  • 79 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:53 PM

I agree that Pardew has to stay now, and we need to see how far we can go with him.
But still, i see it as way to premature to think that Pardew is better than SBR.
SBR has done allot of great deeds throughout his life, hence the “Sir” infront of his name, lets not forget that.
Comparing the two is difficult, they worked under very different circumstances.
U could argue that SBR had more money to work with, but he hardly had the scouting network we have now.
As we’ve seen with several examples through the years, money doesn’t make a top 6 team, quality players do.
Sunderland is a good example spending bundles of money and getting naught out of it, Carroll a good example player of being overrated, etc etc.
Pardew has to prove that our good start is more than a fluke, yes, he’s beginning to win me over, but i’ll wait with my celebration over Pardews appointment until i see we’re atleast top 8 come christmas.

  • 80 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:55 PM

It was Beauty vs Beast today Cabaye vs Samba ;)

It did its job thats for sure :D

Nope still doubt we will hit top 10

  • 81 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:56 PM

Yes, it was only when players like hatem and Maxu comes in, players like jonas are able to produce/ try to make those through passes ..and create chances..

  • 82 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:57 PM

Simpson going forward apart from final ball was the best i have seen him play for us. His link up with obi was good. Shame neither of the 2 can cross a ball haha

  • 85 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:58 PM

Think anyone would noticed if Tiote brung a cattleprod on the pitch? Could hide it’s in his short, would make sense, being from Ghana if u know what i mean ;)
Just have him poke Henry in his tackles, lol.
Sincerely tho, if anyone is to stop ugly man Henry, it’s deffo Tiote.
I heard when i came back from Ghana with his new passport, he stopped the riots in London single handedly…

  • 86 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 9:58 PM

Sir Bobby was a great person! And as you say yourself.. hence the “Sir”…
    We totally agree on that.
But as our manager he did not win us a trophy…
I got a feeling that Pardew is aiming for that this season allready!
Going for both cups, and it is very much within our reach, as our squad has many quality players! we can rotate, give players some breaks etc..
    It is very possible indeed!
By the way… Is the squad not one of the youngest in the league?

  • 88 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:00 PM

i do have a feeling Jonas or Colo will be gone soon as well. But unless he is willing to take up a lesses offer deal..

  • 89 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:00 PM

I saw an interview with Simmo on NUFCTV, there he said that Pardew had told him to go more forward with the ball this season.
Have to admit, i’ve seen allot of that from him, and i don’t scare as easily when he does it now, lol.

  • 90 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:02 PM

Hoping Simpson can improve Fegie wrong.. hahah…Oban as well -22years old btw, there’s chance..)

  • 91 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:02 PM

to who ever asked how many times SBR finished in top 4 with newcastle.. the answer is twice 4th the first time and 3rd the 2nd which we got knocked out in qualifying and he then took us to the semi final of the uefa cup and that when Drogba struck

  • 92 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:03 PM

    @davis_toons #86
Yup, but when these players comes and goes, we should have already scouted 2-3 players to replace that person, with similar qualities. There’s no guarantee we’ll do the same “bargains” as with Tiote, Cabaye and HBA, but we’ll need a player of their level to go forward. If we want better, then we’re talking £20 mill bracket type players.
Again, our scouting network is now our alfa and omega in terms of getting replacements or improvements all over the pitch.

  • 93 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:03 PM

I honestly would be happy if Tiote did take a cattleprod haha people might think he has 4 legs though haha

I think if he puts in a reducer on one of ours either Cabaye or Tiote (or maybe both) will stick a meaty one in on him to put him back in his place

  • 94 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:04 PM

why oh why do ye not have any faith?

Tell me witch teams will end higher than us then…
IMO these teams are better thans ours:
    Man C
    Man U

These we have to fight with:

Tell me who else you think are better than our Gods

  • 95 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:05 PM

Stoke can get into Eupo. So can we. It dose motivite players and even attracted some as well.

  • 96 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:05 PM

I admire Tiote, really do, if the man was a rugby player, u know who the opposition would be scared of.
He brings such presence to the team.
And honestly, i’d like him to rugby tackle Henry, and i’d applaud it even further if he got a card for it :P

  • 97 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:05 PM

also interesting that someone brought up the fact SBR didnt have the scouts we have now.. has anyone read his autobiography? he’s canny critical of Shephard in it for not granting him his wish to have talent scouts and improve the youth network, says Shephard and Hall only wanted to concentrate on first team and St James Park

  • 98 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:08 PM

it was me… I could not remember.. But he did give us some top 4 positions then…
As i wrote before… Great manager, great person!
Pardew on the road getting there…
Pardew best manager we had since Sir Bobby!

  • 99 gorgonzola // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:09 PM

I reckon if we dont do something stupid we should take ONE of the cups and for me that would be a great season, and as long as we are not relegated which I dont think it will happen.

I think we are a bit on cloud 9 so a top 4 finish is out of the question a top 10 finish is a MUST…..

Just need better finishing but I think we are defo improving….

  • 100 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:10 PM

Interesting that cabaye said he wanted us to get into europe. I wonder if that is what pardew has told the players he wants? If we were to get to a cup final and finish top 10 this would be a brilliant season. Even if we just make top 10 i’d be happy as it is progress. Thing is though as someone said earlier how can we be sure players like HBA, Marveaux, cabaye and tiote will be sticking about if we get a big bid?

  • 101 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:10 PM

Mate just going off your post there is no point in me and you having this discussion we wont agree and tbh its no fun. I think we will be lucky to be top 10 you think we are sure to be top 6 we will see who is right next summer

I wouldnt begrudge Tiote taking a card for any shot he takes at Kelvin tbh

  • 102 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:13 PM

Also I dont want to start fighting this argument but quite frankly as much as I like Pardew it turns my stomach that anyone would tout him as being better or going to be better than SBR

  • 103 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:18 PM

Andy – Pardew says before if we dont have a good season then the good players will want away lol ad imagine he’s told the new lads he wants us to get into europe within 2 seasons and he feels they can be the difference which imo is right

  • 104 gorgonzola // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:18 PM

I Also think he cant really be compared when we finish in top 2 then we can talk ….But Pardew is adding a bit of what we where missing the last few seasons

  • 105 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:18 PM

SBR was a true legend. I don’t think we’ll ever have a manager as classy and respected as he. Found a video of the mackems singing there’s only one bobby robson at a friendly not long after his death the other day (saw it on not606) and that truly sums up how good a man he was

  • 106 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:19 PM

until Pardew gets us top 4 twice in a row and atleast a uefa cup final and few good cup runs maybe win League Cup and/or Fa Cup then he cant be compared to SBR

  • 108 GeordieToon89 // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:22 PM

even the mackems realise how much of a gentleman SBR was and they wernt bothered about him being an avid toon fan and managing us they knew that the footballing world and the world in itself lost a true legend and they respected that and gave him the send off he truly deserved, when the club opened its doors for people to sign the memory book and lay flowers and shirts on the seats they wer loads of sunderland fans they putting they shirts on the seats and signing the book thats how respected the man was

  • 109 danishmag // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:22 PM

HBA, Marveaux, Cabaye and Tiote are not for sale…
Unless someone will make an offer like the Carroll bid.
The big names we sold this year, were after the money and not the glory!
HBA, Marveaux, Cabaye and Tiote have been brought in cheap.. They are on lower wages than the ones who left! Therfore MA is not eager to get rid of them, as he was with Nolan, Barton etc…

Agree mate… No point arguing about it.
    Lets enjoy it together instead!
Lets put all our energy towards the players, and give it to them in a positive sence… hwtl

  • 110 Jail for Ashley // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:22 PM

Judging by the posts,Obertan had a really good game, from where I was sat about thirty people round me thought he still had a lot to prove,I know its a lot different when you watch replays on the telly but for me he couldn’t seem to take anybody on and made a few sloppy passes.

  • 111 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:23 PM

As I said I like Pardew, I like what he is doing with the team and I like how he handles the squad in the public but SBR is another level

  • 113 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:23 PM

Drop that issue as different managers is different in their situation and scene.

Sir.BR have prove that we can be in the top three or fouth and fight for e top prize and be in all the legs that we wanted.

AP have takenover -promiss that he wont rock the ship at that point of time too much and will only see what he can do once he can get his man..So we shall see. How he is going to handle the management and the players.

  • 114 Andy // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:24 PM

danishmag maybe true but what happens when players like hba marv and cabaye etc start doing well and the club start doing well and they want better contracts?

  • 115 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:26 PM

For me I like KK. how he always likes to push the players to attack and attack. Even attack the manager as well. (Fegie)

This really bring life into the game.. haha but times is different now..will Real Madrid will the Leg this time?

  • 116 Dannyo // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:26 PM

    @Jail for Ashley
He’s not “really good” yet imo, he’s become better, and had his best performance so far. He needs to be utilizing his speed even more to drag defenders onto, then make that vital pass as late as possible.
He showed glimpses of what he can do, allot more than he has, but still has a way to go.
He seems to be improving through the matches as they come tho, and needs to keep doing that.

  • 117 davis_toons // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:27 PM

  • 118 WWJBD // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:28 PM

I am more than happy to agree to that mate enjoy the ride :)

From where I was sat Obertan was decent but I would agree he wouldnt take on his man rather drew them off and passed to Simmo to put a cross in. I think a lot of his good reviews are coming because we are attacking more on the right atm because Guti is sitting deeper and covering Raylor

Also wey we arent last on MOTD it seems and Shearer isnt on :D

  • 143 shamsoftabriz // Sep 24, 2011 at 10:48 PM

Good teams win the matches they are supposed to win and we certainly did that today.

Highlights: Cabaye was solid again, and HBA–even in just 15 minutes or so on the pitch–looked like a player who could give even the best defenses in the Premier League fits all season long. Demba Ba, of course, took care of business and now seems to be rounding into form.

Lowlights: Not much to complain about, but since there is always room for improvement, here it goes. Obertan MUST be more proactive on defense when the other team begins to take the ball up the field. He was wonderful when he had the ball at his feet, but when his job was to intercept passes or at least make like a BIT difficult for Blackburn’s backs, he rarely made the effort. Late in the game, he just stood by and let them take the ball right by him. Obertan is skilled, no doubt, but I want to see more effort from him in the initial presentation of our defense, which starts with harassment of opposing backs by our forwards and wingers. Best needs to stop drinking so much coffee before matches. Every time he had a chance to add to the lead (and our season goal differential) near the end of the match, he skyed the ball. It’s as if he’s trying to get on you tube rather than just directing the ball to the target, which is all he needed to do a number of times to make the score 4 or 5 to 1.

Overall, though, it was a wonderful spectacle to behold. Great to store away points now as insurance for what will certainly be–at times–a rocky road. Few teams get through a season without bad spells of form, so we need to milk this mojo for as long as it lasts.

Now he thinks Blackburn did enough? They were sh!te. If you asked a neutral which team they thought just got promoted between Blackburn and QPR, they would say Blackburn.

The cr@p that comes out Steve Kean’s mouth is utter BS. He goes on to complain about the 3rd goal and the Sending off… if anything more of their players should have been carded… the commentator’s were having a field day on the air, nearly everytime Blackburn fouled they protested their innocence whilst in the commentators box they are explaining how it was a foul and how they have no case to argue that it wasn’t a foul. If Blackburn want to survive they gotta sack this muppet.

I hate BBC lol. MoTD said we only won because BBurn were poor, Garth crooks REFUSED to praise us and said that we’ve had an easy start hence why we remain unbeaten, although he did say Colocinni has been immense for the past 18 months.

Catching up on the posts this morning I can’t help but laugh; Pardew being compared to SBR, top 6 finish, both cups within our reach, fighting in the champions league in 2 seasons etc….I often wondered why fans of other clubs call us deluded. Let’s get back down to planet Earth people, only 6 games into the season and while it’s a good start; outside of a very troubled Arsenal we’ve not played any big hitters. Our 1st team squad is very light, particularly at the back and things could go very wrong, very quickly if we pick up a few injuries. Let’s see where we are after a dozen games and then we’ll have a better idea of what the season holds, the last 2 games against Villa and Blackburn have been good solid performances and confidence and optimism is building after the first 4 games in which we were poor. We’re still a ‘mid-table team’ at the moment who aspire to be top 10, as players hit fitness and form and with a few additions in January I think we can fulfil that aspiration….after that who knows what might happen over the next few seasons, but one or two on here are getting seriously carried away. Things are going well just now so let’s hope that continues at Wolves

The Blackburn fans were singing to Steve Kean ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’, so I don’t know how he has the nerve to say they deserved something. Idiot.

I really would not like Pardews job of picking that team, not so much next week as I don’t think HBA or marveaux will start, but against spurs.

Tiote, Cabaye, Marveaux, HBA, Obertan, Ba, Best.

One of them has to be left out. All on absolute top form and possess the ability win the game for us.

Jonas is left out on purpose, because there is not one human being in this world go frustrates me more.

I dont think any of us are deluded and thinking that we are going to set the EPL alight this season… But it is just pleasing the see the way we are approaching play and moving the ball around… The unbeaten run will end soon – we know that…But until then we can enjoy some good play by us…
