Newcastle have done really well this season so far, even though they have not got all their players quite up to speed yet.
Davide Santon – to play for Reserves on Wednesday
While Demba Ba announced his arrival on Saturday with a fabulous hat-trick, there are other players like Ben Arfa, Davide Santon, Sylvain Marveaux, Mehdi Abeid, Haris Vuckic and Dan Gosling still to show through at the club.
It will only be a matter of time before Ben Arfa shows through, and of course 19 year-old Mehdi Abeid could be a surprise success this season, when he was only expected to be part of the Development squad, but nobody bothered to tell Mehdi that.
And good news today is that Italian U21 captain Davide Santon is ready to make a second appearance for the Newcastle Reserves side, as he gets up to speed and over his slight knee injury.
Santon was injured about ten days ago, but seems to have recovered after his knee was drained a week ago in London, and Alan Pardew talked about the talented 20 year-old today:
“I think Santon will play at Swansea on Wednesday and we will see from there.”
The Newcastle squad looks surprisingly strong with several players now pushing for a starting place in the team, which is great to see as Alan continued:
“Everybody else looks very, very strong.” “We still have Davide Santon to feature as well, so we are in a good position.”
Davide Santon needs to oust Ryan Taylor from the left back position, and Ryan has done a great job for the club as a stand-in left back, and we even noticed he was starting to kick the ball with his left foot a lot on Saturday, and obviously was trying to show Alan Pardew that he really is a natural left back.
😀
But seriously, Ryan is a terrific professional and this is all you can ask of a squad player, to come in and get the job done for Newcastle when necessary, and he’s done exactly that so far this season, and all credit to the 27 year old for that.
Comments welcome.

Think most of us are in agreement on your words there bud.
Cover for CB and LB and a quick and skillfull striker, and i’m as happy as can be.
If we do bad then, it’s down to Pards.
But we are doing well currently, so cant be that 😛

Comment #43The only trouble with this unbeaten run is………
It will hurt more when we do loose.
Can’t wait for the Wolves game at the weekend. If we turn em over, then it shall be a grand two week international break. Not looking forward to our November fixtures though. Would be happy with a single point from them games.

Comment #44Great start to the season but cant get ahead of our selves like u seaid 8 games in and a long way to go. Lets not firget qpr giv u a battering. But hope we stay solid
On anotha note we ned anotha CF if ba or best gets injured we cnt rely on lovenkrands and shola they had more than enough chances. I think we shud get peiters in jan move santon to RB drop simpson as he is the weak link of this newcastle startin 11.

Comment #45Jail For Ashley says; I find it quite insulting that a man who clearly sounds like a ravin lunatic bills son is suggesting that we would like to see the team lose.
What a plonker you are – you call me a ravin lunatic and then say I’m insulting? Where have I ever suggested you would like to see the team lose? Its utter bo££ox, never have.
You are doing the classic of making cr&p up because you’ve been proved wrong.

Comment #46They’ve got Henderson and Streete ready to step up at CB. Henderson is captain of the reserve team and I think Streete is captain of the U18’s, both are highly rated!

Comment #53@catchy, please don’t keep going after (or actually bullying) Obertan. You have your every right to say anything, but I just find that you keep going after him unnecessarily. As we all said, he’s improving and he’s still 22. I am not being nice to him, but I just want to make sure you know that you still have time to find out he’s good or bad.
And I just hope that Ba and Best would prove us wrong that we’d need a number 9.

I dont think he is bitter I think he tries so hard to not be a Newcastle fan on the show and the only way he can do it is to pick holes which he does poorly
Other than that he is just has crap crack really bless him, I am also getting sick of his ‘I want to be a manager’ crap when it seems he wont take a managers job

Comment #63I’ve managed to seperate Shearer the player from Shearer the pundit, so he’ll always be a legend to me.
I have to say, I’ve really enjoyed the lack of negativity on this blog over the last week or two, not because I don’t like the “neggers”, I do like most of them, whether I agree with them or not, more because it means we’re finally getting things right. I hope this continues, but I’d be more than happy to hear from Angrymaan et al again. We may have different views, but we’re all on the same side.

Comment #66Agreed on the Colo contract, really worries me as he is a high earner and quite possibly the best cb I have seen at the toon in my lifetime 25 years. But yeah we got a striker/cb/lb in jan we can push top 8.
Another worry is that we will lose Tiote and Ba in jan to the ACN.

Denmark calling…
Lads… Do you remember that Wolfsburg became champions i Germany a couple of years ago.. Who would have thought that?…
there is no chance that Newcastle can do the same, now is there?? ;o)
Just a thought..
Naaahh… Dream on Danishmag
Settle for 10th place, because there are 9 teams better than ours… That´s bullocks lads!
A win against Wolves and likewise on Spurs… Will you all still say 10th is okay?
Just a thought.
Once again…
Wolfsburg did it..
Last Year Lille did it in France, might not that big a surprice, but still.. They werent favorites!
Now i will go back to bed, and dream on.. And keep dreaming.. There is black and white on 4th….

Comment #73The corresponding fixtures last season would have gained us 3/15 points which would leave us in the relegation zone this season.
The first 6 games of 2010 left us with 7 points, which would leave us 10th on GD before the Norwich vs Mackem game.
Every game this season we have either equalled or improved our result from last season. if that is not a sign of progress, then I don’t know what is.
