Gutierrez Signs Four Year Deal – I Love Playing For Newcastle

Great news today and it could be that Newcastle know what they’re doing.

Jonas Gutierrez – New contract takes him through 2015

Jonas Gutierrez, Newcastle’s Argentine International winger and a  big fan favorite, has penned a new four year deal at Newcastle,  basically a two year extension to his current deal, that will keep on Tyneside until the summer of 2015, when he will be 32 that July.

Just think he may even be bald by then.

😀

Both Argentine Internationals Gutierrez and Fabricio Coloccini, who is now the club captain, had initial five year deals when they signed for the Tyneside club back in the summer of 2008, and which run out in two years time.

The 28-year-old was also recalled to the Argentine squad earlier this month, and he had this to say about his two year extension:

“I’ve said many times that I love playing for Newcastle. I love the city, the fans and the team.”

“I am proud that the manager and the board see me as part of the long-term future of Newcastle.”

“I have always given my best here and I will always do that.”

Newcastle were paying Gutierrez a very good wage since he arrived at the club, and we thought it would be a bit difficult to reach an agreement for a contract extension, but that has not turned out to be the case, and this is good news indeed.

For the record Jonas has played 119 times for Newcastle United with 7 goals.

And this is a a mini-victory for manager Allan Pardew too, since he failed to get the Newcastle Board to agree new deals for Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton, both of whom have now left the club.

We have to assume that Alan Pardew is also getting the Board to tie captain Fabricio Coloccini down to a new deal, but with the captain said to be on £75K/week at Newcastle,  that could still prove to be difficult.

But Colo is also our best player these days, and he’s turning out to be a very good captain, and he is a player who has always given his all for the Newcastle club.

Sign him up too!

so players turning above 30 will get decent deal. Looks like the age that the board is concerned about is around 31-32 mark

    Copy paste:
Haris has been called up to U-21 match. Must means he’s fit again, or very very close.

And Collo on £75K? I thought it was around £90K…
    Or maybe that’s Smith? 😛

I Said this on a prior post aswell. Hi guys, new to posting but read articles and questions for months now. What’s also interesting about guttierrez, is his realationship with colo. They used to do interviews together as colo couldn’t speak english very well, and our always going out together (not suggesting theyre gay, think they have families). With guti penned down enivetably it’ll mean colo will prob want to sign soon after. Also they’re half italian so they would probably be able to communicate to santon on and off the pitch.

perhaps this spells the end of big earners or Auld’uns being shipped out. Maybe Barton/Nolan/carroll caused some unrest in the dressing room.

Good sign for any Toon fan, hopefully Colo next.

Jonas is a vital cog in our team, not every1’s cup of cha but his work ethos seems to rub off on others.

And rightly so i think, there’s VERY few players today that can keep the steam up past 31-32. The body deteriorates at a much higher rate as your age progresses and it’s increasingly difficult to keep up stamina and reflexes.
Some people are just born with bodies that holds up allot longer, others slow down allot when hitting 30.
In all honesty, it’s common sense, and it’s why after 32-33, players usually just get 1 years extensions.

Agree totally about Colo. He has been fantastic, even scoring the winning goal against Forest. A brilliant leader who works his socks off. If anyone in the team needs a role model take a long look at Colo (Ranger couldn’t even shine his boots). We have to find a way to keep him. No one really knows his wage, I have seen everything from 35K to 90K a week. I think it is probably around 70K and he is worth every penny.

i thought colo was on about 70k. Whats 70k when it would cost us easily 8-10mill to cover his ability, I say save the cash and give him an extension, he might not even want a pay rise, he wouldnt get it anywhere else at 30 so 70k would be great for him

1 Steve Harper — maybe retiring end of year ( prob on decent wage)
    2 Fabricio Coloccini
    3 Davide Santon
    4 Yohan Cabaye
    5 Danny Simpson
    6 Mike Williamson
    8 Danny Guthrie
    10 Hatem Ben Arfa
11 Peter Lovenkrands – prob retiring or leave at end of year ( prob on decent wage as got on free)
    13 Mehdi Abeid
14 James Perch — send him away no matter how much he is on — garbage
    15 Dan Gosling
    16 Ryan Taylor
17 Alan Smith — away – massive wages
    18 Jonas Gutierrez
    19 Demba Ba
    20 Leon Best
    22 Sylvain Marveaux
23 Shola Ameobi — wish he would leave..
    24 Cheik Tiote
    25 Gabriel Obertan
    26 Tim Krul
    27 Steven Taylor
    28 Sammy Ameobi
    29 Haris Vuckic
30 Nile Ranger –wish he would leave
    31 Shane Ferguson
    33 Ole Soderberg
    35 Rob Elliot
    37 Paul Dummett
    38 Jeff Henderson
    47 Bradden Inman

after getting rid of other big wage earners theres surely scope to bring in another 4-5 class 1st team ( squad players) to bolster ranks.. said other day 3 in jan would be class
    pieters

Don’t think we will sell Jonas in January Spike. He is 28 now and was never really worth a huge fee anyway. The real danger is we develop another youngster like Vuckic or Ben Arfa starts playing up to his potential. Ashley is looking for block buster deals for 20M or more. At best Jonas might bring in 5 or 6M.

Repost from earlier thread ….The cheeriest thing is that the players are happy and confident and really want to play for the Toon. Guti,, Ba, Benny, Best etc., Two reasons – the fans are solidly behind them and they know it. The Toon is a special place to be. Secondly – AP. He is a really good man manager and has surprised a lot of people including me with his skill in getting the players motivated, handling difficult situations, playing really attractive football and being honest with the fans. Getting respect is no easy task. The only black mark was over the lack of a CF this window – but it seems them upstairs screwed that one up and he was as pissed off as the rest of us. HWTL and HWTM !

Oh stop slagging Obertan. He’s played 7 games for us, only 28 in two years for Man Utd, it’s going to take a while, and he’s improved from game to game.
During the Nottingham match, he assisted twice, looks to me that he’s working on it and that there’s more there to come.
    And he’s only 22.
    Bloody hell!!
Slag him off after the season if he sucks, not now!

It’s simple, you get a new deal if it’s deserved and you don’t act like an obnoxious arrogant pr1ck. Get Colo nailed down, our best defender for years and brings the best out of Saylor. They could be a partnership for a good while yet.

In the Ben Arfa interview translated by Niafron he says how much it means to be appreciated by the fans and how there is life beyond football. Loyalty used to mean something – hope it still does for these guys like BA, Guti and hopefully Colo too. Think how many prizes Shearer could have got if he’d just been motivated by being a glory hunter
