Wolves have lost their last three league games, so they will be looking to get something out of the game with Newcastle tomorrow afternoon at Molineaux.
On the other hand, Newcastle have made their best start to a league season since way back in 1995, when the great Kevin Keegan was managing the club, and at that time the team was nicknamed The Entertainers and were even the country’s favorite side because of the attacking way they played the game.
It’s a long stretch to call this current Newcastle team entertainers, but on the positive side, manager Alan Pardew has vowed to make Newcastle an entertaining and attacking side this season, but of course the emphasis is on winning.
Newcastle have 12 points from their six league games this season, and have also progressed to the 4th round of the Carling Cup. albeit against lower league sides Scunthorpe United and Nottingham Forest, away from home.
Most Newcastle fans have been pleasantly surprised by Newcastle’s very good start to the season, but the fans are also not getting carried away too much either, with the memories of that terrible relegation still too vivid in most of our minds.
And Alan Pardew seems to have done an excellent job so far in keeping the players’ feet firmly on the ground, because once you think you are a good team, that’s the time the lads will get smashed – that’s just the way things seem to work out, for whatever reason.
Newcastle have fielded an unchanged defense in all of their six games this season so far, and Newcastle’s defense is currently the best of all the 92 football league clubs, having conceded just three goals in six games.
We also have to hope that even mentioning those stats does not cause Newcastle to be something like 2-0 down after 10 minutes in tomorrow’s game.
We fully expect Alan Pardew to keep an unchanged side from that which easily beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 at St. James’ Park last Saturday.
This is the team we expect tomorrow with the subs bench:
Krul
Simpson Coloccini (c) Taylor (S) Taylor (R)
Obertan Cabaye Tiote Gutierrez
Best Ba
Subs: Elliot Santon Guthrie Marveaux Ameobi (S) Ben Arfa Lovenkrands
We know Wolves will be trying to pick up points tomorrow, and they always give their opposition a hard game, and Alan Pardew and the players are fully expecting a tough encounter tomorrow.
The keys to the game for Newcastle are that they can endure spells where Wolves will be on top, and another clean sheet, which would be Newcastle’s 4th this season, has to be a goal for tomorrow.
The other two keys to this game for the Magpies are that the central midfield pair of Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote can keep up their excellent form of the last couple of games, and that Demba Ba and Leon Best can keep scoring those goals.
If Newcastle can play anywhere near what they were like last Saturday against Blackburn, when they could have easily buried Rovers with a little bit more luck in those last 15 minutes, then there has to be a decent chance we can get something out of this game.
A draw would be good enough for us, and a win would be simply phenomenal.
What do you think?

Comment #47Think the Wolves game will be hard fought with the Midlands side turning it into a scrap i’d guess; i’m certain they’ll try to unsettle Cabaye and stop him getting on the ball. I’m predicting a 1-1 draw or 1-0 win…I dont see us losing our unbeaten record just yet but Wolves are a strange team and on their day they can be a handful when they’re at home.
In relation to an earlier thread; It’s an interesting link with Tevez re: Pardew’s comments. Why would he make such comment? You have to take on board that Tevez’s wife and family are now back in England which was the reason he wanted out of Man City initially, add to that Kia Joorabchian is his agent and also Newcastle’s ‘football advisor’ then consider Jonas and Colo and their families on Tyneside and that Pardew has managed him before at West Ham….a January loan deal in the offing perhaps? He certainly won’t play for Man City again or will Ashley pull a shock stunt and try to sign the guy up? Highly unlikely perhaps, though he has the cash if he feels so inclined….but does he have the ambition???

I don’t think it’s completely out of the picture, but i’d doubt we’d pay more than 25% of his wages tbh.
Also, Pards has worked with him before and knows him seemingly well.
I think Pards would take that if he could, but the financial things would be the issue.
Also, personally, Tevez is everything that’s wrong with football today.

I think the figures thrown about in relation to his salary are pure press speculation, though for sure he’ll be on a hugely inflated sum. I could realistically see a potential loan deal there with us meeting around half of his pay, at the end of the day City will only lose sell on value if he’s not playing; better they send him out on loan and then sell when they get the fee they’re looking for.
Agreed, Tevez represents a lot of what’s wrong with modern day players though by god what a player he is!
Anyone that says they wouldnt take him on loan for 5 or so months must be mad….

Comment #57I don’t get why we put Elliot out on the bench, he’s not fit to shine Harpers boots. He’s made countless mistakes (against lower league sides and reserve teams), letting in many goals, like at notts forest and at swansea reserves on wednesday. Don’t know why harper has lost his place but this Elliot guy doesn’t even seem worth the 300k we spent on him. I could do a better job, for less wages no less. 🙂

Comment #60My team for tomorrow in a 3-1 win:
—————–Krul
Simpson-Taylor-Coloccini-Raylor
———–Cabaye-Tiote
Obertan——————Jonas
————-Best–Ba
Ive gone with same formation and same team just because while Raylor is playing Jonas will offer more defensively tha Marveaux or Benny would so Jonas must stay on the left for tomorrow especially because Wolves have a couple of past wingers and Jarvis has a class delivery also… see how game pans out and on around 60mins ad bring Benny on for one the strikers just cos he needs more game time
as i said 3-1 win
Ba-Best-Cabaye and Fletcher for them

Comment #80Tevez talk is unbelievable. If we signed a striker I would be over the moon. I would take Derdiyok in a flash in January just to push Shola further down the pecking order.
Tevez wouldn’t join us in a million years. Man City won’t let him go unless they get 30M for him which at the minute I don’t believe Ashley would be prepared to pay. He would go in with an offer of 25% of our east stand and a half eaten sausage roll.
