Jonas Gutiérrez will be at Newcastle for another four years, and the news of him signing his new contract extension was well received by Geordie fans.
Jonas Gutierrez – flair player
Jonas is a bit of a character, but he follows his instructions from the manager in each game down to the letter, as Alan Pardew said today:
“I can remember one game where we asked him to play a little deeper for Ryan and he did it to the letter.” “He has a good knowledge of the game. He gives us a rest with the ball but he is a good character around the place as well.”
“He is a maverick. He sings and dances and messes about.” “Sometimes he is late and not quite perfect in his discipline but it is all just the sort of character he is.”
“You do not score a goal and wear a mask if you are a normal individual, but it is a nice eccentricity.” “It acknowledges to Jonás he is my player now. It is very important a senior player has signed as well, because there were a few question marks about that.”
“You always have to look at players’ contracts and see what is left.” “Can we offer them more money? Do they warrant a stronger contract? Do they warrant a contract which has x amount of years?”
If Jonas Gutierrez, that masked man, is a maverick then great, we love having characters playing for Newcastle, and there’s no doubt that Jonas is a character and a bit of a flair player too.
You just never know what Jonas is going to do next, when he’s running down that left wing, and neither does he.
We’ve noticed what Alan has done in his short 10 months onTyneside. is to inject a fair bit of flair into the side, mostly from French players,
The Newcastle manager has signed Ben Ara, Jonas Gutierrez, Yohan Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Obertan and Mehdi Ameid, and that bodes well for Newcastle’s future.
Just like Chris Hughton before him, Alan Pardew seems to have a clear understanding of what Newcastle fans want to see from their team, and that has to be good.
Keep it up Alan.
