Maverick Gutierrez Sings And Dances And Messes Around

Jonas Gutiérrez will be at Newcastle for another four years,  and the news of him signing his new contract extension was well received by Geordie fans.

Jonas Gutierrez – flair player

Jonas is a bit of a character, but he follows his instructions from the manager in each game down to the letter, as Alan Pardew said today:

“I can remember one game where we asked him to play a little deeper for Ryan and he did it to the letter.” “He has a good knowledge of the game. He gives us a rest with the ball but he is a good character around the place as well.”

“He is a maverick. He sings and dances and messes about.” “Sometimes he is late and not quite perfect in his discipline but it is all just the sort of character he is.”

“You do not score a goal and wear a mask if you are a normal individual, but it is a nice eccentricity.” “It acknowledges to Jonás he is my player now. It is very important a senior player has signed as well, because there were a few question marks about that.”

“You always have to look at players’ contracts and see what is left.” “Can we offer them more money? Do they warrant a stronger contract? Do they warrant a contract which has x amount of years?”

If Jonas Gutierrez, that masked man,  is a maverick then great, we love having characters playing for Newcastle, and there’s no doubt that Jonas is a character and a bit of a flair player too.

You just never know what Jonas is going to do next, when he’s running down that left wing, and neither does he.

We’ve noticed what Alan has done  in his short 10 months onTyneside.   is to inject a fair bit of flair into the side,  mostly from French players,

The Newcastle manager has signed Ben Ara, Jonas Gutierrez, Yohan Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Obertan  and Mehdi Ameid, and that bodes well for Newcastle’s future.

Just like Chris Hughton before him, Alan Pardew seems to have a clear understanding of what Newcastle fans want to see from their team, and that has to be good.

Keep it up Alan.

if you take anything from the jonas contract then it is indeed the fact we will look after our senior players and keep hold of them if it suits both partys .
    thats cool

Spike – it’s a bit early to be smoking whatever it is you’re smoking!
Saw Gutierrez in Eldon Square last week as I was coming out of Esquire coffee shop. He’s a bit of a dandy – fancy scarf and all. I do think he can be unappreciated – messes up at the final ball sometimes but he’s a great get-out from defence and a support for the left back.

Ah, just keeping it warm till the rest of you arrive.

I once saw Laurent Robert while he was at Portsmouth on loan. It was at Southampton airport. The players were all checking in, being a bit rowdy, and Robert was standing quite a way from the rest looking really left out

Who do we think will be man of the match then?
My pick would be Saylor. I can just picture him playing for England with Gary Cahill stood next to him. That’ll be the day!

Teams for today? What would you go with lads? I am a bit unsure about this one. I would say don’t change a winning team but it could let complacency slip in. If only santon, marv and hba were fully fit but i think we will go with the team that started last 2 games

For some reason that quote: “You do not score a goal and wear a mask if you are a normal individual, but it is a nice eccentricity.” made me really laugh. Anyway off to work 12-3 5-12 fun times, but good timing for the gap ey? Howay the lads!

Jonas is 1 of the most under-appreciated Newcastle player. His work rate is immense and the job he does to cover our vulnerable left back. A true professional and one who doesn’t get injured at all. Shows how seriously he takes his fitness.

Delighted he signed a new contract.

I really don’t think Jonas is under-appreciated, given the amount of people who say so and the concurrence; kind of contradictory. He always gets a fantastic ovation from the crowd.
