Newcastle are in top form this season, and are still 4th top of the Premier League after Liverpool could only draw 1-1 with Manchester United at Anfield this afternoon, and they welcome a strong Tottenham Hotspur side to St. James’ Park tomorrow.
If Newcastle can keep their unbeaten record tomorrow, they will stay in 4th position in the Premier League, but a win by Tottenham would see them equal Newcastle’s 15 points, and a two goal win by Spurs would see them in 4th position tomorrow night.
But we’re quite sure that’s not what Alan Pardew will be telling his side for tomorrow’s game, because Newcastle will go all out for the win, and will do that in every single game this season, with a little more emphasis on winning every game at St. James’ Park this season.
Newcastle have won four and drawn three in their 7 league games so far, and they are flying high, and these are the kind of games Newcastle fans and players look forward to.
Everybody other than Mike Williamson and possibly Shola Ameobi should be fit, but there are some doubts about Sammy Ameobi and Danny Guthrie, and Alan Pardew is spoiled for choice, as has been the norm so far this season.
Last season Newcastle drew 1-1 with Spurs, but it took an injury time equalizer from Aaron Lennon to deny Newcastle a win, and in the nine fixtures before that, Newcastle have won eight of those and only lost one, back in the 2004-2005 season.
So this is a good fixture for Newcastle and they usually win the game, but of course Spurs have the best team they’ve had for some time, but so do Newcastle, as it turns out.
We expect Alan Pardew to stick with the side that did so well at Molineaux two weeks ago, and the problems Pardew will have is which players to leave out of the 18 man squad.
Here’s our team and subs for tomorrow afternoon:
Krul
Simpson Taylor (S) Coloccini (c) Taylor (R)
Obertan Cabaye Tiote Gutierrez
Best Ba
subs: Harper Santon Guthrie Ben Arfa Marveaux Ameobi (Sa) Lovenkrands
We are assuming Sammy Ameobi and Danny Guthrie are both fit, and the one surprise in the starting line-up could be that Marveaux starts in Jonas Gutierrez’ position on on the left wing, simply because Jonas did so much travelling as part of the Argentina squad over the last two weeks.
And there is still no place on the bench for players like Dan Gosling, Alan Smith, Shane Ferguson, Haris Vuckic and Mehdi Abeid, such is the strength of the Newcatsle squad these days.
Steve Harper should be on the bench as back-up goalkeeper for this game, as Alan Pardew is rotating those duties between Steve and new boy Rob Elliot.
It will be a tough game for Newcastle tomorrow and there are several keys to this game, for Newcastle are to get all 3 points:
- The Newcastle defense will have to be on top form, and hopefully can keep a clean sheet, which they nearly achieved in the same fixture last season
- There will be a huge battle in central midfield between Cabaye and Tiote. and former Newcatsle player Scott Parker and Croation International Modric, and this is not the time for Cabaye to have one of his quieter games in a black and white shirt
- Demba Ba and Leon Best up fornt have to be in good gaol scoring
There’s no doubt that Alan Pardew will be wanting all 3 points in this game, and a win will keep Newcastle in 4th position for another couple of weeks at least, and that has to be a huge g incentive to our boys to go all out for the win tomorrow.
It will be adifficult game for Newcastle, but it’s a game they can win if they can play anywhere near their top form.
Howay The Lads!!

Smith….Taylor….Collo…..Santon
………………..Tiote
……………..Cabaye……\
Obertan……………………….Gutti
……………….Ben Arfa
………………….Ba
BENCH Harps, Raylor, Best, Marveux, Gosling, Sammy if he is fit
Time to get Santon and Barfa on the pitch and pack the midfield. With Tiote as anchor we have plenty of attacking options.. If Smith is getting run ragged we can sub him for Raylor so Bale has some fresh legs against him and then also have his set piece threat available. Best for Ba at some stage too and it’d be great to see Gosling get on the pitch.

Comment #43Sadly i think it will be Shola on the bench and not Sammy.
Shola turned 30 this week and i can’t help but think Pardew will use him tomorrow. Sammy only resumed full training on Friday

Comment #48I think you are wrong there (@ 47).
Think Obertan is working realy hard on the right-side, and is learning å bit from Guti. Think he just will growing, and that we did a decent buy!

Comment #49@daffy well I still see the guy as a legend… he made newcastle the famous team they are today… we might of finished 2nd twice and never won anything with him BUT our team was so excting people worldwide knew us and thats why were still famous in france…
But why some people dislike him is cause he walked out on us twice… though lets be honest het got buttfu**** the 2nd time and I wud of walked out too.
But the 1st time I stilll dont understand why he thought we wud be better with out him… It was after that the scouser took over and started destroying us…
aww well hopefully AP can become the newest nufc legend alongside king kev, sir bobby, alan shearer, supermac, beardlsy ( lets face it he was great and is still great for us now ) and must I go on 😛 HWTL

Comment #50O and I wud only put santon on over raylor!! we dont want to change to many and destroy our team so just slowly form it in to our best team… which is the same as now BUT jonas on the right, marveux on the left, obertan on the bench, ben arfa playing off Ba, best on the bench AND santon on for raylor 😀 and dont give me rubbish about raylor playing over simpson… raylor couldnt tackle a barndoor… ( though that makes no sense xD )

Comment #51“We know how well Newcastle have been playing. They have been in good form and we know their threats but we’ve been working on the training pitch to exploit their weaknesses and get ahead of them,” Bale added
By weaknesses I can just see the isolate Ryan Taylor and run past him strategy being deployed. Im praying we stay solid and bring on Santon whenever needed, no matter how early.

Comment #53i’m going for a 2-2 draw.. but i have a sneaky feeling spurs will kick this game. If Raylor is not on the top of his game, we are screwed. We need Guti in that flank to support him.
And Simpson is not that good of a right-back as well. Defensively he’s clumsy at times and his positioning is terrible. Hope we can just score more than we concede.

i agree hes a decent signing and has done well. Just saying i dont think hes worth a first team spot, particularly ahead of jonas. Did you watch the wolves game? He nearly cost us three point with his lax defending. Sure that side of his game will improve but at this stage hes a liability- as you will prob find out today if he plays. Hes a luxury at the moment and should only be used against weaker opposition. lucky simpson is so disciplined (if slightly mechanical).

Comment #58santoon has to start some time and that has to be today imo hes played spuds before and lennon didnt get a sniff and with guti in front of him we will have some force down the left hand side! jonas is our kuyt he grafts his arse off all game up and down that wing

Comment #59Should play Santon today. I understand not changing a winning team but why wait till we lose before changing it; that will sap the confidence.
Graft these players in while we on a roll; especially against Lennon! f@ck me he could murder Raylor with his pace whereas Santon will have ways to stop him !!!
