We were surprised at the news a few weeks ago that 21 year-old Tamas Kadar was finding it difficult at Newcastle, and that his career on Tyneside was in some jeopardy.
Tamas Kadar – Newcastle career in jeopardy
Tamas has had an awful lot of injuries at Newcastle over the last 18 months or so, and even his loan spell at Lee Clark’s Huddersfield Town last January was cut short after only two games, because of a hamstring problem.
And as we have seen with good players like Steven Taylor, who himself has gone through a lot of injuries over the last couple of years, when you are coming back from injuries and not playing regularly, it’s always hard to impress without a sustained run of games.
But Tamas had hardly been fit since Alan Pardew has arrived, and it seems that Pardew has not been too impressed with what he has seen from the once capped Hungarian International, although Tamas has had good solid games recently in the Newcastle Reserves side, and also for the Hungary U21 side.
Kádár’s transfer to Newcastle in January, 2008, from Zalaegerszegi TE, when Tamas was just 17 years old, was only allowed due to Hungary being within the European Union, because normally a player must be 18 years old at minimum, and the player arrived on Tyneside to much fanfare.
And it’s always difficult to know which young players will finally make it though at Newcastle and some youngsters who look like they will, fall by the wayside, while others come through very strongly – and you just never know.
The good news is that Tamas is now fit and working very hard in training to impress manager Alan Pardew, and try to save his career at the Newcastle club, but he only has until next June to so that.
And it may be he will that the 6’2″ defender will be loaned out in January, so he can get some first team games under his belt, which looks like the right thing to do at the moment.
There were negotiations ongoing in the summer to try to get Tamas linked up with a Dutch club on loan, but he then sustained another injury and those plans fell through.
His agent, Tibor Patak,y has said that Tamas is trying his best to get his career at Newcastle back on track:
“Yes, its true that there was a possibility for Tamas to move on loan during the last transfer window.”
“He played really good games for Hungary under-21 in Toulon, he played against France and Mexico and lot of scouts liked him.”
“We had interest in him from the top league in Holland, from Italy and from Germany, but unfortunately he picked up an injury in the pre-season so the deal collapsed.”
“At this moment he is fit again and working very hard to reach the first team again. He played four games in the reserve team, where he is the captain, and showed a good performance in Turkey where he played with Hungary under-21.”
“He would like to be in the first team squad of Newcastle United again, and working for it every single day.”“We will see what’s happening in the next few weeks and if there is no chance for him to play games in the first team than we will speak to Newcastle United about a loan possibility.”
Tamas has played 18 times for the Newcastle first team at either center-back or left back, and he’s always looked calm and steady when he’s played in the first team.
And we have to hope that Kadar gets loaned out in January, and does great next year at some other club, because only then will his four and a half year contract at Newcastle have any chance of being renewed before the end of June next year.
Here’s hoping.

Comment #50A lot of people are writing off Kadar……As Ed stated in a recent post – As Geordies we respect 100% effort more than anything………..
All I can say is Thamas – you have 8 months or so to work your guts out and prove you deserve a place in the Newcastle first team – here’s hoping….I have my fingers crossed!!
