Newcastle Unchanged For Tough Tottenham Game

As expected Alan Pardew has fielded an unchanged side for this afternoon’s tough game at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have hit to top form and have won their last four games, but Newcastle are also in decent form, and have yet to taste defeat this season after seven games in the Premier League and two ties in the Carling Cup.

Dan Gosling and Shola Ameobi return to the bench for Newcastle, and Rob Elliot is again the substitute goalkeeper.

And for Tottenham, former Newcastle captain Scott Parker starts,  and both injury doubts Abedayor and Van der Vaart are also in the starting line-up.

It’s a very good chance for Newcastle to get a win this afternoon which will keep the side in fourth position in the league.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle: (4-4-2) Krul; Simpson Taylor (S) Coloccini (c) Taylor (R); Obertan Cabaye Tiote Gutierrez; Best Ba
Substitutes:  Elliot, Santon, Gosling, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands Ameobi (Sh)

Tottenham (4-4-2): Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, King (c), Assou-Ekotto; Livermore, Modric, Parker, Bale; Van Der Vaart; Abebayor
Substitutes: Carlo Cudicini, Sebastien Bassong, Danny Rose, Andros Townsend, Giovani Dos Santos, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Jermain Defoe

Very worried about our wing back positions. Very weak. Will be our toughest game so far… Lennon and Bale will be wreaking havoc as expected.

    chris_g, Ref your earlier post:

“Actually, AP was recently quoted as saying that he doesn’t think that way, so I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Santon in the starting eleven this afternoon:”

Doesn’t matter what he says. It’s what he does.

Lennon has been a thorn in our side everytime and today he has possibly our worst LB to play against. Adebayor will be a ba##ad today Colo and Taylor aren`t as big so I can imagine seeing Taylor throwing his body every where again for us.

have to agree with the majority in saying there shud hav been a few changes. shud hav matched spurs 4-4-1-1, with ben arfa playing same role as vdv.
also santon was bought to play left back for us, u cant just wait til raylor has a poor game before playing him. the sooner he starts playing the sooner he can get to grips with the premier league.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA what a load of tosh…If the wolves game was POOR strategy by Pardew this could be one of the biggest mistakes this man has ever done… a Perfect game to bring in Santon and Benny…..

    BAD move…

Hmmm, as much as I know you shouldn’t change a winning formula, I can’t help but feel that Spurs will have too much quality. In my opinion, this was the game to include Santon and Ben Arfa from the start. I think adding them in the second half may be too late.

    I hope I’m wrong though!

Have to say terrible decision to name unchanged side. In defence, they were terrible against wolves and playing Taylor at LB again is suicide. He’s been worst player for us this season and is going to have a tough game against bale or Lennon. Thought he would have played marveaux as well instead of obertan because he can offer a more pace.

Draw at most today but good luck. HWTL

I feel Defoe will undo our hardwork today. 2-1 Tottenham.
VDV and Defoe with their goals. Obertan with ours from a corner. His big head has to come in handy for something!

Wish santon and HBA were on the field. I don’t know what he is waiting for why not make a powerful team more powerful.

But it will be interesting to see how today pans out.

It’s on Sky Sports so no streams for me :3

Lets be honest here…HBA arguably OUR BEST QUALITY player NOT starting against the side that is a top side that is not an agressive side on the field, plus a home game….

Sure it can all go to plan, that is IF it goes to plan but surelly up front if I have to come up with a person who could cause the most havock is Benny…and now after a full year HE IS NOT IN THE SIDE…

Why dont we just sell him back ….getting really frustrating not seeing this lad play…

An undefeated team that gets slated before every match is unbelievable. We have not yet lost with this team! Raylor has been excellent out of position in the last few games.
Obertan and Gutierrez can be great covering RB and LB. Hopefully we will see Benny and Davide second half.
