As expected Alan Pardew has fielded an unchanged side for this afternoon’s tough game at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham have hit to top form and have won their last four games, but Newcastle are also in decent form, and have yet to taste defeat this season after seven games in the Premier League and two ties in the Carling Cup.
Dan Gosling and Shola Ameobi return to the bench for Newcastle, and Rob Elliot is again the substitute goalkeeper.
And for Tottenham, former Newcastle captain Scott Parker starts, and both injury doubts Abedayor and Van der Vaart are also in the starting line-up.
It’s a very good chance for Newcastle to get a win this afternoon which will keep the side in fourth position in the league.
Howay The Lads!!
Teams:
Newcastle: (4-4-2) Krul; Simpson Taylor (S) Coloccini (c) Taylor (R); Obertan Cabaye Tiote Gutierrez; Best Ba
Substitutes: Elliot, Santon, Gosling, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands Ameobi (Sh)
Tottenham (4-4-2): Friedel; Walker, Kaboul, King (c), Assou-Ekotto; Livermore, Modric, Parker, Bale; Van Der Vaart; Abebayor
Substitutes: Carlo Cudicini, Sebastien Bassong, Danny Rose, Andros Townsend, Giovani Dos Santos, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Jermain Defoe

Comment #41h8 to say it but by not playing Santon and HBA is a sign that Pardew is a bit scarred, or just not gutsy. Say what you will enjoy the game.

Comment #44True Gorgonzola, we have had our fair share of luck ( Wolves and QPR). However, look at our performances at Blackburn and Villa. We were absolutely supreme. Villa should have been a comfortable win had it not been for Given playing out of his skin.

Comment #54He is waiting for a slip-up Gorgonzola. I think as soon as someone slips on form he will rotate. When the players are on form taking them out is a bizarre option. Stick with a winning team until cracks begin to show.

Comment #60Ginola, What a class player. The first player of Newcastle I ever saw. That day, in black & white picture in a sport newspaper on some winter back in 1995. Wow. Basically, the picture that made me interested in the club and well, a fan 🙂

I dont blame Pardew for selecting the team he has, I just hope he changes it up quickly if we seem to be struggling.

Comment #71Ginola was amazing……I dont know how true this is but I heard we ended up with Ginola because PSG backed out late in a deal for George Weah (selling to AC) so sold us Ginola on the cheap…..hopefully someone can confirm whether this is true or just rubbish…..
