Haris Vuckic is now fully fit after breaking his hand against Fulham in August, when he came on in the second half as a substitute.
Haris Vuckic – in action for Reserves tonight
Haris joined Newcastle in January of 2009 to great fanfare, but has suffered a lot of injuries in the last year, and we have to hope that’s the end of his injury worries.
The Slovenian U21 International made the US tour in the summer, and looked impressive for Newcastle when he has played in the first team, and he currently has 9 appearances for the Newcastle fist team.
Newcastle Reserves play Liverpool tonight and Haris should get a runout.
Newcastle are currently top of the Barclays Premier Reserve League with 10 points from their 4 games and Liverpool are rock bottom of the league in 8th place, but they have only played one game, which they lost.
The Newcastle squad is as follows:
Rob Elliot, Jonathan Mitchell, Michael Richardson, Shane Ferguson, Stephen Folan, Remie Streete, Tamas Kadar, Greg McDermott, Mehdi Abeid, Bradden Inman, Yven Moyo, Samuel Adjei, Haris Vuckic, Sammy Ameobi, Nile Ranger.
These games are important to the club, because they give some playing time not only to the youngsters, but also to the other players on the fringes of the first team, when they need some match practice.
Other youngsters in the squad include Sammy Ameobi, Shane Ferguson, Nile Ranger, Mehdi Abeid and Tamas Kadar, and we have to hope the Hungarian International Kadar will find his form soon.
Rob Elliot will again start in goal to get some match practice.
This is the first game for the new Newcastle Reserves manager, Willie Donachie, after Peter Beardsley was appointed Newcastle’s Football Development Manager last week.
The game is at Whitley Park in Benton and kicks off at 7:00 pm and admission is free for season ticket holders and Magpies members, and otherwise it’s £3 or £1.50 concessions.
It should be a very decent game to watch with some of our great young players are in action, if you have some spare time tonight.
