Haris Vuckic Fit Again And Plays Tonight

Haris Vuckic is now fully fit after breaking his hand against Fulham in August, when he came on in the second half as a substitute.

Haris Vuckic – in action for Reserves tonight

Haris joined Newcastle in January of 2009 to great fanfare, but has suffered a lot of injuries in the last year, and we have to hope that’s the end of his injury worries.

The Slovenian U21 International  made the US tour in the summer,  and looked impressive for Newcastle when he has played in the first team, and he currently has 9 appearances for the Newcastle fist team.

Newcastle Reserves play Liverpool tonight and Haris should get a runout.

Newcastle are currently top of the Barclays Premier Reserve League with 10 points from their 4 games and Liverpool are rock bottom of the league in 8th place, but they have only played one game, which they lost.

The Newcastle squad is as follows:

Rob Elliot, Jonathan Mitchell, Michael Richardson, Shane Ferguson, Stephen Folan, Remie Streete, Tamas Kadar, Greg McDermott, Mehdi Abeid, Bradden Inman, Yven Moyo, Samuel Adjei, Haris Vuckic, Sammy Ameobi, Nile Ranger.

These games are important to the club, because they give some playing time not only to the youngsters,  but also to the other players on the fringes of the first team, when they need some match practice.

Other youngsters in the squad include Sammy Ameobi, Shane Ferguson, Nile Ranger, Mehdi Abeid and Tamas Kadar, and we have to hope the Hungarian International Kadar will find his form soon.

Rob Elliot will again start in goal to get some match practice.

This is the first game for the new Newcastle Reserves manager,  Willie Donachie,  after Peter Beardsley was appointed Newcastle’s Football Development Manager last week.

The game is at Whitley Park in Benton and kicks off at 7:00 pm and admission is free for season ticket holders and Magpies members, and otherwise it’s £3 or £1.50 concessions.

It should be a very decent game to watch with some of our great young players are in action, if you have some spare time tonight.

Comments welcome.

Sorry for the disappearing act. The Maiga rumour is coming from L’Equipe apparently via sky on twitter

    @SkyGraemeBailey Graeme Bailey
L’Equipe claim that Newcastle and Sochaux have opened talks again over Modibo Maiga and a deal is almost done ahead of January move. #nufc

That was a follow up from Bailey cant remember who first put it up though

Would much prefer Luuk de Jong. Maiga is going to be off at the same time as Ba and maybe even Shola during the ACN. Leaves us canny short on strikers.

On Maiga I dont know if I’d want him here tbh but another young good striker isnt a bad thing. However he is off to ACoN in Jan so we will be left with Best Shola and Loven

May not even have Shola WWJBD, isnt he on the verge of getting called up to an african team? Can’t remember which like.

If I was shola like I’d go for it as he’s never going to play for england lol.

I am more keen to see how Abeid (geordie pele) gets on again tonight. His goals last week were class and his performance in the cup was brilliant. One to watch this year out of the youngins!!!

Both Vucic and Abeid could be our midfield two for the next 10 years. Great talents both of them.

Will Ranger make it to the first squat this year? I have a feeling he is going to be a massive player, I we need to give him another try.

Ranger doesnt deserve to be anywhere near the first team squad til he sorts his attitude out off the pitch.

Think I will go. Want to see how much strength in depth we have particularly at the back. Interesting Marveaux, Santon and Ben Arfa left out the squad but it’s a very strong squad!

I hope that the lad doesn’t pick anything up in this match. I noticed that JJ Hooper was not in the squad, would have though that he would get another run out, considering his good performance last time. Didn’t get a knock did he??
