It’s hard to know where Nile Ranger stands at the moment, and whether Newcastle will again try to sell him in the next transfer window.
Nile Ranger – does he have a future on Tyneside?
But Nile had a good game last night and scored two goals for the Reserves in their 3-2 win over Liverpool, and he missed a penalty too, otherwise he could have had a hat-trick, but the brace will still get Alan Pardew’s attention.
Nile has had problems with committing himself to training on Tyneside, and over the summer had a few off the field moments in his private life, and he still turns up late now and again which does not go down well with the Newcastle manager.
New Newcastle Reserve team manager coach Willie Donachie handed Ranger some sound advice after the win on Tyneside, as he told the Newcastle press today:
“Nile has got amazing potential.” “He’s got great physical ability, athleticism, strength and speed.” “Like the others, he’s just got to keep working, and he could be a player.”
“It’s the hardest jump to go from Reserves to the first team, and the only way to do it through hard work and determination.”
“They’ve all got a chance of being players – and if not here somewhere within the leagues.” “We’ve got to make sure they keep working hard on their technique and fitness.
Newcastle fans saw some good performances last night from youngsters Michael Richardson, Mehdi Abeid, Sammy Ameobi and Shane Ferguson, and the Reserve side is essentially the Development players and the average is is usually around 20.
Nile has talked to the local press today, for the first time for a long time, and this is what the 20 year-old Londoner said:
“You can look at everything and it has negatives and positives.” “But for me I have to look at the positive side of it. I hope that I get my chance.”
“My ultimate dream is still to play for Newcastle and score goals.” “I want to score goals for the first team, get on with all the players and make the fans sing my name, it’s all anybody wants.”
“Yes, it is frustrating but you just have to get on with it I guess.” “But it is very frustrating.” “You will have ups and downs in your careers and you just have to be strong enough to get through it.
“I have not had the chance this season. But Newcastle are doing very well.” “I have not been told nothing.” “All I can do is keep working hard, getting games and looking sharp.” “It is a buzz to even pull a tracksuit on at Newcastle United and see yourself on the FIFA game.”
“It’s just a huge buzz.” “I don’t think that loan is even an option at the moment but we have to wait and see.”
Ranger is still not training as part of the first team squad, which he was doing over the last two seasons, but he must know what the situation is, and what Alan Pardew wants to see from him.
Nile needs to knuckle down, commit himself 100% to training and not be late, keep himself out of any trouble away from Newcastle, and do exactly what the coaches tell him to do, as far as his football development goes.
But it’s an open question as to whether Nile still has a career on Tyneside, and we would think it’s going to be very difficult for the lad to resurrect his career at Newcastle.
But we hope he does.
For the record Nile has made 58 appearances for the Newcastle first team with 3 goals, and played 12 times with 6 goals for the England U19 side, and has one cap at the U20 level.
What do you think will happen with Nile?

Comment #41I’m not sure I think Simmo’s a better defender. But then again, if he had the defensive cover Jonas provides, he may look far far better. Last season he was left exposed by Barton a lot.
Anyway WWJBD, enjoying our start to the season? I haven’t posted on here for a long long, I’m still scared Big Mike’s going to throw another ludicrous spanner in the works just as things are going smoothly!

Santon for Raylor or Simmo? It shouldn’t be, but i think it’s hard to tell. Raylor has actually improved game by game, and kept the PFA player of the year dead silent when he was playing on his wing.
Simmo is actually a defender, and not yet reached his full potential, but shouldn’t be too far off.
I just hate when defenders don’t close down, and Simmo nearly never does.
I honestly don’t know, if u had asked before the Tottenham match, it would’ve been Raylor.

Fella what we need and what we will get are two very different things mate 🙂 but Jan is a long time off and quite frankly it depresses me to think about it.
Saylor makes stupid mistakes constantly and has very poor judgement and Colo is just a far better football player.
Well its fair enough if you dont rate Simpson but imo he is still a better option than Raylor who requires far to much help in defending. Last season Simmo held our right side alone as Barton just didnt defend this season he has had Obertan who atleast attempts to help out.
Imo Raylor severly limits what Guti can offer in attack whereas Simpson wouldnt

Comment #461st away game I’m getting to will most likely be Swansea. It’ll be a long lonely trip back from Wales if we don’t pick up the points there though!
But yeah loving it. Proud to support the club for the first time (bar the fizzy pop) since SBR was here to be honest. We’ve actually got an identity again.
Which was your first game? And imagine the outrage if Wigan end our run though ey? (; Can’t see it happening mind. Would be nice to keep a clean sheet though. It’s been a while.

Comment #49TBH, i keep having this gut feeling of either we will tear up Wigan to pieces or lose to them. Hopefully its us giving Wigan a trashing 😛
