Newcastle Are Unchanged For Wigan Game

As we expected,  Newcastle are again unchanged for this afternoon’s game against Wigan Athletic.

This is a test for Newcastle, where they have a chance to prove they can play at their very best against one of the weaker sides in the Premier League,  with Wigan Athletic second bottom on just 5 points.

James Perch and Alan Smith come in on the bench for the Magpies, and join Harper, Santon, Marveaux and Ben Arfa.

For Wigan, former Newcastle player Caldwell is at center-back for the visitors.

This is a game Newcastle are expected to win, but they will have to be near their best to  get all 3 points this afternoon.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle: Krul; Simpson Coloccini (c) Taylor (S) Taylor (R); Oberan Cabaye Tiote Gurierrez; Be Best
Subs:Harper, Santon, Perch, Smith, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Ameobi

Wigan: Al Habsi, Boyce, Caldwell, Alcaraz, Figueroa, Diame, Watson, Jones,Moses, Rodallega, Crusat.
Subs: Pollitt, McArthur, Gomez, Sammon, Thomas, Maloney, Lopez.

    @Gorskino

Lol? You prefer Sammy over Obertan? -.- Sammy is not ready to start yet, not at all………

I think you should not be that impatient, I’m sure Obertan will get better and better in time.

My prediction is 4 – 0 to the Toon. I reckon our first goal will come from a penalty then we’ll just crush them from then on. Ben Arfa will come on in the 70th minute and set up a goal… That’s my prediction for the game atleast.

    Anyone got any links?

Anybody who wants a free tenner bet, go to Skybet.com and sign up. I’m not a big gambler, but I read about it, thinking it were one of those ‘you deposit and we’ll match it’ promos, however it’s simply a one-off free bet, offered to new customers! Takes a minute to sign up.

I used mine on PSV during the week. They were drawing 0-0 with 20 mins to go, so I stuck it on them to win at 5-1, they scored almost immediately and held on, easiest 50 quid ever (only 50 because you don’t get that tenner in you’re winnings, if you do win) 😛

Given that Smudge is on the bench, it’s time for the Alan Smith stats to continue!

    Alan Smith statistics 11/12 (EPL):

Note: “Goals conceded” is for only when Smith is named in the squad.

Appearances by Smith this season: 1
Goals conceded with Smith on the pitch: 1
Goals conceded without Smith on the pitch: 0
    Yellow cards: 1

Thats what we said about Luque etc… Obertan runs around like he doesn’t have a clue what to do, looks scared nothing like his former self in France when he skipped passed players with ease using an array of tricks like CR7-Esk.

Sammy can SCORE unlike Gabby, and is ALWAYS dangerous, i don’t get that from Gabby.
And Merveaux has shown in Reserves he can SCORE AND ASSIST.
Gabby has played 8 games and yet to score or assist, poor from a Winger.Even Guti has 1 goal 1 assist.

really getting sick of the lack of change. this was a game where Pardew had the chance to mix it up but again he chooses Obertan and Simpson who have played appallingly on average in their last 3 games.

As quite a few readers I’m quite disappointed to see Obertan start, Marveux would be my choice… but rightfully Pardew has gone for an unchanged team which has been near faultless so far.

Agree with 22 – I use first row, its cracking, links dont often drop and there are usually 5 backups if it does. I have it bookmarked.

Pardew’s interview on Radio Newcastle touched on Obertan.

He needs time on the pitch to build his confidence.

We probably won’t see him at his best until later this season or the next …

Jesus, whinge whinge whinge, you’ll be foaming at the tits once we’ve won today.

We’d all like to see HBA and Santon play but while the team is still unbeaten it isnt likely to change much.

Plus AP has the blackburn match on wednesday to have abit tinker.

Anyway, 4-0 today, Ba 2, HBA 1 and Cabaye 1.

    1) dont mind Obertan starts because we are still unbeaten – dont change a winning team

    2) Smith and Perch – two players who should get rid soon. To get result for the team, keep them both at the bench ALL THE TIME

    3) HBA,Marveax and Santon to get 15-20 mins in the end

We shouldn’t be using a main position to “Give a guy confidence” we have a bit of depth in Merv/Sammy etc.. Why bother playing him if he isn’t confident then play him in the RESERVES.

Shouldn’t be placed in first team because we want his Confidence to go up, what about the confidence of the squad of seeing a player running around and doing nothing, looking poor on the ball, passing was poor.

No change is the only thing Pardew can do!

It isn’t about the best individuals. It’s about best TEAM on form and making changes slowly.

Ben Arfa and players will be in the team soon enough. And when they are they will have earnt it and will have better respect for teh shirt because of that.

Well this is a management logic: A coach don’t change a team who win.

Not a bad logic, but who got limits. Pard remain firmly on this line, we will see (maybe not today) if it do not delay the improvment of the team.

But i don’t think Pardew see’s he is playing poor, he hasn’t got subbed at all, although his last game was just poor, isnt good to see from the Bench/Reserves if a player doesn’t naff all but keeps his place.

I agree dont change a winning team but lets face it we are not unbeaten because of Gabbys influance.
