Mehdi Abeid Could Become Future Star At Newcastle

Mehdi Abeid has done very well at Newcastle since he was signed as a free agent in the summer from Lens.

Mehdi Abeid – 19 year-old future star at Newcastle

Mehdi continues to be very impressive on the training ground, and as soon as he arrived at Newcastle on July 1st,  he was outstanding in training, with the 19 year-old getting a trip to America because of his form early in the summer.

And there is news today that it could be Mehdi who gets the nod to replace Cheick Tiote in the Newcastle central midfield,  when the Ivorian goes off to the African Cup of Nations in mid-January.

Certainly he had a very good game in the middle of the park for Newcastle at Nottingham Forest in the Carling Cup, and it seems that Pardew is ready to give the Algerian U23 International his chance  in January.

The African Cup of Nations will run from January 21st to February 12th in Equitorial Guinea and Gabon, and Tiote and Demba Ba will both participate and could even be away until 12th February, as the Ivory  Coast and Senegal have good sides and both won their groups rather easily.

With Algeria not qualifying for the tournament,  Mehdi will be on Tyenside, and it seems he may be the one to get a start in January in place of Tiote.

This is what Alan Pardew said today:

“He’s in my thinking when Cheick goes away. I’m gearing him up for that period,”  “His progress continues. He scored two for the reserves the other day and he could find himself jumping ahead of one or two others, we’ll see.”

We’ve said it before, but this lad could become a massive signing for the Newcastle club, as he seems to have skills galore, and he’s such a smashing lad, and of course he’s a pal of Ben Arfa too, and he works very hard in training every day.

If Mehdi does get the nod from Alan Pardew in January, it will be a setback for Danny Guthrie, and even for Dan Gosling, who cannot seem to get much playing time on Tyneside.

Comments welcome.

Does anyone know howcome he was a free transfer? I mean surely Lens could have got him a contract extension before his contract runned out if they wanted to

Well done to the lads for getting the 3 points yesterday, a win’s a win at the end of the day.

My team for Blackburn is as follows:

    Obertan–Abeid–Gosling–Marvaeux
    —————-HBA—————–
    —————-Best——————

Subs: Harper, S.Taylor, R.Taylor, Guthrie, Vuckic, Sammy Ameobi, Shola Ameobi.

Feel pretty confident we’ll see Perch, Santon, Marveux, HBA, Harper, Shola, Abeid in the starting lineup against Rovers. Not sure about the rest.

    @alkineou
I think he started out on trial with us, probably not signed a proffesional contract yet, or not a long one atleast. Maybe on a year by year basis, it’s often common at his age.
Then we may have come along and he wanted to see if he could hack it in the Prem.
Don’t take my word for it tho, but this is often the way things go.

I don’t think abeid is defensive enough to cover Tiote. our back four get alot of help and respite from tiote, Abeid is more attack minded & likes 2 get forward a bit 2 much to fill in 4 cheik. Gosling or Guthrie 4 tiote’s role 4me in jan/feb.

    @Leroi
I think thats where u’re wrong, Abeid is a Cabaye type player, first a DM, but good going forward too.
Abeid is being groomed for Tiotes role, where he hangs a bit more back than Cabaye. I’m betting they’re going to add a bit of weight to him for that role aswell, he’s got the build for it imo.
He’s more techincal than Tiote and has a nice foot on him.
But he’ll do the job i think, so i wouldn’t worry.
Tiote is a specialist DM, and Abeid is being groomed for the role, he’ll come a long way after 2-3 months of training.

Yeah, dangerous to tamper with things too much, depends how much Blackburn are going for the trophy tho…
Scary business, might be our first loss if we go with too many “fringes”.
Saylor will probably be given a rest due to the broken nose tho.

I dunno mate, thats the thing, we have no proper depth at the back, Perch is going to get shipped out the first oppertunity we have, and Kadar is in his last year of contract, failing to realise his early potential and he’s injury ridden aswell.
Prob Perch for me, but it’s the lesser of two evils, lol, doesn’t really help.

    sory, i can’t see ben arfa plying as a attacking midfield..marveaux is..(4-5-1)
1.he is not a creative passer
2.he more comfortable on a wide area where he normally played before.(where he had one good shot yesterday)
3.play him on the right, he can cross and cut into the box to have a shoot.
4.play him in the reserve team 1st as marveaux did..he needs match confident..
    HWTL!!

There’s two things I would be overjoyed to see for the Blackburn game:

Take out: Krul, Coloccinni, S.Taylor, Tiote, Cabaye, Gutierrez, and Ba. (All need a rest, desperately)

Play: Ferguson, Santon, Abeid, Obertan *needs to improve so badly*, Marveaux, Vuckic, Ben Arfa and Sammy Ameobi.

Taking out those players, would effect our team hugely, and its a huge risk no doubt about it. But if we put a few of them on the bench then that would help. Whilst the players above have the capability to destroy Blackburn.

Man Utd has to be as good as they can be now, really been a boring match so far.
When City scored they had only had 35% possession vs Utd 65%.
Thats what world class players can do for u…
Possession doesn’t matter much when there’s no pace in it.
Just like us vs Wigan yesterday, had possession, did naught…
Expecting Utd to come out running now, cant loose, especially not at home to City.

I haven’t seen that much of ”ab-ey-eed”(cheers tdt) to be honest. i was basing my statement on the little bits i have seen & match reports that highlighted only his creative attacking play. I’m glad to hear he could fill Tiote’s boots better than Either of the Danny G’s though i don’t feel so aprehensive of the ACON approaching now cheers.

Jeeze hammered 6-1 on their home turf, superb to see the fans walking out long before the 90 mins were over.

I was going to say leaving before the game was over but in reality but the game was over at 3-1 🙂 🙂

And it just had to be shitty that turned them over, just class.
