i think santon should come play in left back cause every team which plays against NUFC attack to that left back possition and raylor should be shifted to right back and then marveux should play in left wing and guti in right wing and ben arfa should play in place of best and this will be our first 11

HBA was very poor yesterday. Lost the ball far too many times in a short period. I just hope it’s just rust from being out for a long time and he needs about 10 games to come into rythm. But 1 player who should be dropped immediately is Obertan.

He was absolute pants. Marveaux made the difference. He is class and needs to start against Stoke.

HBA still lack of his best after long spell absent but yesterday he show some class too. Cabaye’s goal is worth any penny for this game and make us all proud with him.

19pts from 9 match !? can you imagine before season start ?

I suppose noone remembers how frustrating players like ginola and Hba can be. People remember ginola for silky skills, a few goals (not many by the way) and forget that with this type of player, he will regularly lose the ball. Even last years few hba outings ate remembered for his goal and some flashes of brilliance despite some ropey performances elsewhere. Take the rough with the smooth with this type of player and Let’s see what we’ll remember at the end of the season.
Marveaux is like cabaye a real proper footballer and needs to play. Think he has enough work ethic to chase back and defend (obertans strength at the moment as he’s struggling when going forward)

Too start complaining about HBA is stupid. Ofc he’s gonna lose the ball, did u think he’d make through the defense and score every time?
Why not stick him on the field alone then?
    Get real…

That’s it sell Hatem in January 😉 he was poor yesterday yes but he hasen’t played competitive football in over a year add to that he hadn’t adapted to the PL to begin with!

He should start against Blackburn on Wed and get no more than 45 mins againt Stoke imo. Maybe start him against Everton. Marv probably the same

With exceptional flair to beat an opponent you have to accept he’s not going to beat the player every single time.

I mentioned it before but Giggsy said years ago that if he takes on a full back, he may not get past them nine times out of ten, but the one time he gets past could lead to a go, therefore he’ll never stop trying to attack the player.

I’m really not too fussed he lots the ball a few times cos his skills were there for all to see and the more he plays the less he will give the ball away and the more he will go past players.

Fans who criticise HBA for being rusty haven’t got a clue about pro football. The guy has been out for a year and he isn’t match fit. Look at how off form Tiote was in the first 2/3 games after he missed pre-season. He was slow, losing the ball and passing poorly. After 5/6 games he was back to his best. It’s even harder for HBA because he hasn’t played competitive games.

You can’t get match fit by training, in games the pace is faster, you get less time on the ball, the tackles fly in and you are playing against the opposition not your teammates. HBA also has to get match fit mentally as well as physically. Do you think in training he worries about an over the top tackle, getting flattened in a 50/50, or do you think he gets threatening leg break verbals? Of course he doesn’t. I saw HBA pull out of two tackles yesterday when he knocked the ball too far ahead. If he keeps doing that he’ll never be the player he was. I think he will get his touch back and if he adds workrate to his game he’ll be awesome for us.

Slagging HBA off for losing the ball when he isn’t match fit is laughable.

I thought we did just enough yesterday in as much as our defence kept us in the game and then we won through a single moment of quality. The back four were superb.

It showed how much Wigan, who looked fitter and stronger all over the pitch, had controlled the game by the fact that Tiote and Cabaye were forced to play just in front of the back four. Best worked hard first half but not much came off for him and he should have scored with a header.

Pardew made a change to provide a link between midfield and forward line but Ba seemed isolated. Things changed when Ameobi and Marveaux came on. The ball just stuck to Ameobi and he allowed Cabaye to get into a higher position and Marveaux offered a number of options after replacing Obertan, who was poor for me yesterday.

Credit to Pardew for changing it because that allowed more fluidity within the team and an improved passing game with Shola at the spearhead eventually led to the goal.

We won despite not playing great football but grinding out results against lesser sides is where we’ve fallen foul in the past.

    It all bodes well.

I’m looking forward to a drive to Blackburn on Wednesday and then Stoke next week.

That’s just too obvious though !!
Everyone thinks that’s what should happen, but I doubt it will.

I really like Marveux, intelligent player who doesn’t give the ball away and gets his head up.

We play much better football with Ben Arfa instead of Best as the ball stays on the ground more.

Does anyone know which leg Ben Arfa had smashed, as he seems very or totally left footed?

I said after his first couple of interviews that Cabaye could be thought of with the same affection as Solano and he’s certainly going that way and quite quickly.

I sit third row of gallowgate corner and when he claps to the fans during and after the game he seems really really humble. I watched his last game for Lille and there was a fantastic reception for him and im sure there was a few tears from him.

Great guy and after playing in front of 15,000 over there, what he has at St.James’ he must feel honoured and to me it certainly shows through. Great interviews all the time from him and Lee Ryder keeps saying when he’s on international duty he can’t stop talking about how great it is here.

I think what we saw yesterday from Benny was a mixture of frustrating moments when he gets caught plus perhaps 2 moments of sheer class – the run and shot and another break and superbly timed pass – to Guti I think. I think that pattern will continue – but the balance will change to more brilliance and less frustration as time goes on. He is undoubtedly a potential defence-breaker.
On another topic – I was narked that the ref booked 3 of us (7 fouls) and only 2 of them (22 fouls). I thought they got away with some cynical and late challenges. On at least 3 occasions it was because we got the ball and he waved play on – then “forgot” to book their man, but somehow he didn’t forget to book Simmo in a similar instance. Hopeless!

This was a great game for the lads, as they now understand they have be 100% to win any game in this league!

I still think Obertan need to be dropped and Marv brought in as he really is world class.

By the way: Ignore the Collo to Liverpool shite, it is really just media shite!
