Leon Best – Yohan Cabaye Is Such A Lovely Lad

There was a really good interview yesterday with Leon Best, with Evening Chronicle reporter Lee Ryder doing the interviewing.

Leon Best – Yohan is such a lovely lad

Leon answered questions from Lee as he signed autographs for the fans, and he was  complimentary of what Mike Ashley was doing in giving season ticket holders additional season tickets for this season  at half price, and there’s news today that Newcastle are doing a very brisk business.

And in fact the wait times on the phone and also at the box office are over 20 minutes long, but the club are doing their best to keep up with the terrific demand.

This is what Leon said in answer to a number of questions from Lee, as they chatted while Leon signed autographs,  and the Nottingham-born Irish International striker came across so well:

“This is the position the club should be in.” “The fans are happy and we’re in the top five and still in the cups.”  “When you look at some of the players who have played for Newcastle down the years and the position the fans expect the team to be in because of that, it is only right that we try to be where we are in the league.”

“It is about right for the size of this club.” “The fans feel at home in this position.” “They should be because they are great fans and deserve to be there.”  “It’s unbelievable, to be honest.” “It’s good to see what the chairman is doing here, he is showing his love and at the moment the fans are delighted.”

“You could see by the queues at the ticket office yesterday.” “They will be out-singing the Blackburn fans, who knows?” “They might even turn a few Blackburn fans into Toon fans!”  “We feel we can win again. We played very well against them in the league, Demba Ba scored a great hat-trick.”

“We’re going to play a team that will have hard feelings, but hopefully we can win and progress in the cup, which makes the season even better.”  “The game on Saturday showed what we are as a team – we can pick up points and win games.”

“When the strikers don’t score the midfielders showed they can step in and score.”  “That’s what good teams do. It’s just a matter of getting the points no matter who scores.” “Then whoever scores just shows their excitement. I was delighted to see Yohan score.”

“He should have scored at Villa and I was disappointed for him. He’s a lovely lad, and I was over the moon for him.”

Blackburn are struggling at the moment being rock bottom of the Premier League with just one win and two draws from their 9 league games,  but to their credit they gave it everything they had against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in the 2-1 defeat and played very well.

It’s an important game for Blackburn tonight,  and manager Alan Pardew thinks they will field a very strong side, and we also think Pardew will field a strong Newcastle eleven,  and give a few fringe players a game, which shouldn’t weaken the side much at all.

Leon is just one more player at the club at the moment who comes across so positively and seems such a good guy,  and that reflects well on the Newcastle club, that we not only have so many good players in the squad at the moment, but that they seem top class characters.

Alan Pardew must take a lot of credit for that, along with his coaching staff,  but also Graham Carr and the scouts have done a magnificent job for Newcastle over the last 18 months.

And we cannot wait to see who the club will sign in January, as we know the Newcastle scouts are out in numbers right now, checking out players for the January transfer window.

But in order to keep the momentum going, Newcastle will need to win tonight and get through to the Carling Cup quarter finals, and Alan Pardew and the players will be giving it everything they have.

hard to pick a team for tonight but i’d say rather confidently that ba won’t play with his knee injury worries i think it would be silly to play him infront of ben arfa when we have best and lovenkrands who could do a good job there

Lads: There will not be any links regardless of what firstrow says. The match is not televised so unless Blackburn stream it to their website or something, we will have to make do with the radio.

    How streams work:

    1. Match is filmed.
    2. Signal is transmitted to TV stations.
    3. Somebody turns on the TV stations and picks it up using a capture card.
    4. That person hosts it on a streaming site (like justin.tv etc.)
    5. We watch it.

So unless somebody manages to hardwire the camera that is there for highlights to a laptop and directly streams it to us (will never happen), we’re stuck with hoping it’s on the radio.

@GT89: When a match isn’t televised, the signal is stored locally for editing – there isn’t a signal to transmit. Like I said, unless somebody has a laptop with one of the best mobile internet with the best uplink and streams the direct, raw feed, we can’t stream it.

@GT89: haha no bother mate. I wish there was a way so we can only hope that Blackburn have a similar thing that we do regarding club bars and home games, then there might be a stream but it would have to be an inside job. Likewise if they have a Rangers-like weblink for certain games, we can capture that.

Not like you care you cnut, you’re at the match 🙁
