Three Players Arriving At Newcastle In January

The Sunday Sun is reporting today that Mike Ashley will spend some money in January, and that Newcastle expect to bring in three players during the next transfer window.

Modibo Maiga – to arrive in January

There was some similar news a few days ago, and the news continues to say that Modibo Maiga will be arriving on Tyneside early in January, and we we’ve suggested the deal could already have been struck.

Indeed the local newspaper is reporting the deal has been agreed to at a fee of £6M, which is on the low end of estimates (that’s a surprise), and that terms have also been agreed with the 24 times capped Mali International.

Everything seems agreed and Newcastle are hoping no big club comes in over the next couple of months for the talented striker, who was in big demand early last summer.

Maiga is quick, tall and left footed, which fit Newcastle’s requirement for the striker they want to bring in,  and the wages Newcastle will be paying Modibo triple his current wages at Sochaux, and the contract is said to last through the summer of 2016.

Alan Pardew will travel to watch Sochaux a few times in the coming weeks to watch him play, and understand how best to integrate the player into the current Newcastle side.

We know that Alan Pardew wants to bring in an experienced center-back to shore up central defense,  since Newcastle only have Fab Coloccini, Steven Taylor and Mike Williamson.

Newcastle went after Lian Ridgewell on the last day of the transfer window in the summer, and he may still be a target, but we do expect a center-half to arrive in January.

We thought Erik Pieters could also possibly arrive in January,  but the local report today suggests that Newcastle are after another central midfielder, which is a bit of a surprise.

Newcastle are said to have a list of six players whose contracts run out next summer, and Newcastle may move for one of them in January, if a suitable deal with their club can be arranged.

We have to hope that’s not a sign the club are willing to sell Cheick Tiote in January to Manchester United or another top club.

I hope if their monitoring players who’s contracts are nearly up that this means their going to make a move for Gary Cahill. Having Colo, Taylor, Williamson and him as our centre half’s would be unreal. Although I know there will be lots of competition for his signing! I’d still bring Pieters in and have him and Santon fighting for that left back spot and obviously have Ryan Taylor and Danny Simpson fighting it out for the right. Things are looking good at the moment so I hope Ashley opens the purse strings a little, gets behind us properly and realises we have the opportunity to establish ourselves as a top six side this season.

Ed, how is it surprising that we want another central midfielder because with Gosling struggling for fitness i do not believe we have any stand out canditate to replace Tiote in the centre of the park when he is at the ACON. With Abeid in my mind being a much more attacking midfielder.

I bet Miaga is the only significant signing!

They will likely to sign a couple of young players for the future!

a question that does not speak on the subject, the majority of fans we are angry that Carroll left the club.
Newcastle lose to Demba Ba, because he has to go to the African cup of nations.
would accept that carroll back on loan to newcastle?
    as they take?.

    I would sign to:

    1: gary cahill.
2: sebastian giovinco or mark noble
3: luuk de jong or andy carroll on loan

The big issue for retaining players is the pay ceiling (rumoured to be < £50k) – this could affect keeping players (e.g. colo & & tiote) – but why not? as long as our scouts can unearth good players at a reasonable price who are happy with that ceiling.

The 3 players i would like us to buy are Maiga,Ridgewell & Onouha because we definitely need another striker, Ridgewell can cover lb & cb and he’s young & cheap2! Onouha is also young(not cheap probably 6-7m) and he can cover rb aswell as cb. I would also bring in better quality cover for Tiote in dcm maybe Mikel from chelsea or Arevalo he was great 4 uraguay in the world cup and never made it to a decent club.

Seems to me we almost never sign the people associated with us in the media. Which suggests Maiga is just another smoke screen. Expect the unexpected.

    Here we go again!

We all have our lists and our opinions about who to Buy / Sell !

This is the same circus every time a transfer window comes around !

I am more concerned about the good players we already have, being sold than i am about who the club is going to buy !

Pards may tell them all to lay off and say that no-one is for sale but when it comes to the crunch! And big money offers come in from the likes of Liverplool and Manure!
I think you all know what will happen!

I fear for the futures of:

Krul, Tiote, Collo and even Cabaye is not safe!

If thats the right way to go i don,t know, and i,m hoping that it does,nt happen but i fear the worst!

Krul is fast becoming irreplaceable, Collo would be a big loss too!
I have a gut feeling about January, and while it would only take big money offers to get Ashley to sel, No-one seems to think about replacement players when first team players are sold!

When publishing all the artikles on here about prospective buys, it might be a better idea to look at the contracts of some of the talented players we already have !!

Its still too early to wind myself up about January but like i,ve already said i do “Fear the Worst”!

Llambias said to me a few weeks ago that he had nearly signed Maiga (although didnt actually mention his name, said a striker from a club in the middle of nowhere in france) in the summer, all terms were agreed with the player and they flew private jet etc to sign him but Sochaux changed the deal last minute. So NUFC said they were suing them for £1 mill as compensation. Never really wanting the compo but more to get the player cheaper so that could explain the cut price for him
