Alan Pardew – My Lads Stood Up To Stoke Tonight

Newcastle won 3-1 for the very first time at the Britannia Stadium tonight, after going ahead 2-0 at the half.

Demba Ba taps in his second goal at Stoke tonight

And the man rejected by Stoke City in January, Demba Ba, who failed a medical at Stoke, was the man who put three goals in the net for Newcastle  tonight. for his second hat-trick of the season, and the lad now has 8 goals in just 11 appearances for the Geordies this season.

And Newcastle became the first team to win at the Britannia Stadium this season, as both Manchester United and Chelsea could only get draws there.

Alan Pardew was simply delighted after the game, as his players worked their socks off for the cause tonight,  and once again the defense put in another outstanding display with Coloccini and Steven Taylor like two rocks in central defense..

It didn’t seem that Steven’s mask bothered him much at all tonight, as he was strong and physical as ever in defense.

A delighted Alan Pardew had this to say after the game:

“All credit to Stoke, they’re very good at what they do,”  “Even teams like Manchester United have come here and not won this season.”

“But my lads stood up to them and showed good discipline.”

“When you’ve had a run like we’ve had unbeaten in the league this season, when you have difficult periods in a game you can come through them and we ended up winning the game.”

Newcastle went ahead after 12 minutes with a simply worked goal, when Obertan broke away on the right wing, and put in a perfect cross for Ba to head home.

The Senegal striker got his second after 40 minutes when a Leon Best shot was a bit off target, so Ba put it in the net from a couple of yards out – easy.

Newcastle were dominant in that first half, but as expected Stoke started to mount some pressure on the Newcastle defense in the second half, and they got the breakthrough on 74 minutes when Ba fouled Peter Crouch in the box and Walters put the penalty away easily.

But just six minutes later Newcastle got a penalty and Demba Ba hit it home in great style to get his second hat trick of the season for Newcastle.

In 21 games for West Ham and Newcastle in the Premier League this year he has hit 15 goals, and 8 goals in 11 appearances for the Newcastle side.

Not bad for a free agent.

Newcastle are now third top and 3 points clear of Chelsea in the Premier League, with a goal difference equal to that of Chelsea on +8.

Next up for Newcastle is Everton on Saturday afternoon, in a 12:45pm kick off game, and we could well see a sold out St. James’ Park for that game.

We need another 3 points in that game,  but remember that Everton are never easy and beat us 2-1 in the same fixture last season.

Howay The Lads!!

The key word is ‘My’. It is his team and he trusts them and they trust him. Well done Pardew. I wasn’t your biggest fan but you’ve definitely won me over!

Brilliant isn’t it. I thought about it before the Spurs game, when all the talk was about how we hadn’t had a real test.

But whether we have played who the media percieve to be “big” is irrelevant. What is relevant is that we’re improving at an incredible rate, judging by those stats!

*repost* – because im proud i managed to write so much!

first ill just say, what a titanic team performance that was. the whole team were man of the match. cant single out anyone really. ryan taylor and danny simpson were the best Ive ever seen them play – chucking themselves at everything and defending like men possessed. krul played a blinder but for a couple of tiny errors which weren’t costly (kicking was a bit dodgy) .

taylor and collaz at center we beating stokes target men to everything bar a couple of long balls. guthrie did tiotes job down to the letter and stuck at it all night. when he had a chance to pick a pass he did. cabaye had one of his quieter ones in terms of play making but still did what was asked of him defensively. guttierez was off the scale down that left flank and probably played 3 games in that 95min shift. obertan was a much needed outlet when things were getting pressurized at our back door – some of his running off the ball was excellent. Ba’s work rate up front was again worthy of his hatrick and the soft pen he gave away was really lightweight from the ref, but at least he was consistent and awarded us a similar one. best worked hard but looks clumsy with the ball at times and appears to just put his head down and run sometimes but nonetheless he was involved in our goals in some shape or form so I’m happy.

overall it was an absolutely solid, resilient team effort that we wouldn’t have come through had it not been for the whole team pulling in the same direction and putting themselves on the line.

PS i was so impressed with raylor i even shouted at the tele not to bring on santon when he was injured towards the end of the first half. that probs wouldn’t have happened a few games ago

    roll on everton i say

hopefully some fans will get off obertans back after this performance. Despite the assist I don’t think you can underestimate the relief on pressure Obertan’s counter attacking runs made. A lot of players contributed to the win but without his counterattacking we woulod not have got 3 points from this game.

    1) i am concern with Tim Krul – did couple of mistakes but hopefully that make him better
    2) MOTM definitely Demba Ba but a good shout out to Jonas for his discipline defending duties
    3) Despite what Perch did – still dont convince about him.
    4) Guthrie did well – but Tiote is still our no one Defensive Midfielder
    5) Leon Best look hungry for goals. Good for us

what a day what a day only one word to describe it PROUD!! I am so enjoying the season and the way the lads take on the task at hand each and every week and there is surely some growth going on before our eyes. I admit i was not the biggest Simpson fan but he is savvy and gets the most out of his abilities i love the way he was pissing pulis off with the towels hahaha. Obertan i was one of the minority who were genuinely excited to get him and he kind of let me down initially but boy he is getting better and shows his pace is second to none. the other additions like Cabaye and Ba i mean really what can is say that already hasnt been said pure class. Santon will come around as well wait and see and enjoy the ride cause its been fantastic HWTL!!!

A master stroke with the towels on the throw ins( it will be interesting now to see how many teams use that same tactic) great result, cant understand the perch substitution though . stoke got sussed out tonight and couldnt handle it , best 3 points this season

I recon Perch was told to get on there and make himself felt and that is just what he did, that stage of the game did not warrant a finesse player just a plain and simple get in their face get stuck in type of player and Perch did just the job and good on him.

@33 but a caution in less than 10 seconds? There is something to be said for making yourself felt but that tackle was purely reckless. And if we need another CB doesn’t Santon play there as well as full back?

Greetings all, elated at such a well earned and professional 3 points. There obviously is justice in the world when neanderthals like Stoke are brought down to reality by a team at least trying to play football, instead of turning the whole event into a version of Dangerball and American grid iron.
As far as the statistic on #17….
I must be watching a premier league in a different dimension, because Dempsey (Fulham), Agbonlahor (Villa), Hoilett (Blackburn), Defoe (Spurs), Fletcher (Wolves). Which of these were offside? How was TAylors challenge on Adebayor NOT a penalty? Lets lose the rose tinted glasses guys, lets just scor one more goal than the other side LOL
We can stay up there. We are actually better than the majority of us expected we would be. Alan Pardew is Actually doing a magnificent job. We may not actually sell anyone in January. We will finish above Luckypool (How does that work out again Jose / Andy?). We can not compete with the big boys financially, but collecting points every weeks or so, on that green stuff, with a white round thing, it seems we can.

Walters and Huth should be up for GBH.

Perch was unlucky to be booked. Both players went for the ball perhaps a little recklessly.
Book both, or neither. Perch was the only one to be booked as the Stoke player came off worse.
