Steven Taylor will resume his position in central defense partnering captain Fabricio Coloccini tonight at Stoke City in another important league game.
Steven Taylor – masked man will play tonight
Steven will be wearing the mask that was fitted for him peronally by American specialist, Jeremy Murray, who came over at short notice from Detriot last week to do the job.
The 25 year-old also has had his nose straightened, and his modeling career is back on, and the local lad’s been practicing in the mask, and is now all ready to come back into the side tonight at the Britannia Stadium.
Newcastle suffered their first defeat last Wednesday at Blackburn Rovers in the Carling Cup, and the did not have the rub of the green in that game, and it will be important for the Newcastle side to get something out of this game tonight.
And if they do they will go into third position above Chelsea in the league table, with the London side suffering their second successive league defeat against another London side on Saturday, when they surprisingly went down 5-3 against a resurgent Arsenal.
Steven admitted playing against Stoke wasn’t the ideal team to make his masked debut in:
“To be honest, Stoke probably isn’t the ideal side to play against in a mask.”
“I’m sure there will be a lot of heading to do along the way. We know it will be a great physical game.”
“As they have proved they are a physical team over the last few years, but we’re ready to give it our best shot.”
Stoke have won two and drawn two at home in the league this season.
They’ve beaten Liverpool 1-0 and Fulham 2-0, and have drawn games with Chelsea and Manchester United, but of course they went down 2-1 to Liverpool last Wednesday night in the Carling Cup at home.
Newcastle will be going for the win tonight, but we think Alan Pardew would be fairly satisfied if the lads can take a point at the Britannia Stadium tonight, and end up in 3rd position in the league.
What do you think?

Comment #1Stoke City weakness is that they dont have pace, maybe a combination of HBA,Obertan,Jonas etc will easily dribble past their slow defenders

Comment #3Love Saylor. This just proves his loyalty to the cause once again. You have to be a brave man to play against Stoke, especially at CB just on its own, nevermind with a broken nose and a stupid mask fitted!

Etherington/Pennant/Walters will have something to say about that mind and Pennant and Etherington are excellent crossers of the ball
They defenders are not the quickest but they make up for the fact they class tacklers and battlers so they put the tackles in before the players get behind them they’ve only lost 1 game at The Britannia since december last year

Comment #5Its going to be a solid game tonight, I always dread going to Stoke. HBA needs some games and this is a perfect one for him, he can get us free kicks around the box but also leaving the pitch with no legs! mon Newcastle. Also hope Gary Neville does some research on our team , last time it was Shola and Best up front and the “two local lads” lol

Comment #6I reckjon he should keep the mask to protect his nose long term.
He can paint it with some toon stripes.

Comment #7Hence why I love Taylor. He’s the man. We all know how good Stoke are at home but their four home games above really underline it. A point will be a good result, a win would be amazing. Hoping and praying that Tiote is available, we’ll need the best team possible out there tonight. Reckon we should play a 5 man midfield with Ba up front, Santon LB and Raylor RB.

Comment #8Was working tonight so resigned myself to missing the game, but someone was smiling on me as after the second run the office said away and sit in canteen and we will call if we need you.
So I got the last 30 mins of the game, walked in at NUFC 2-0 up, and if they played the first 60 like the last 30 then I am impressed as they were running hard closing Stoke down and working very hard at stopping Stoke developing any momentum.
I think the ref got both pens spot on and this result at the Britannia is simply first class, although the pundits in their infinite stupidity will still class us as lucky,
BUT I just love it that they put us down, it makes the results all the more enjoyable. 🙂 🙂 🙂
