It wasn’t exactly unexpected, and news that Nile Ranger has been formally charged with assault.
Nile Ranger – career over at Newcastle?
So Newcastle are making headlines for the wrong reasons today, and Nile has been formally charged with assault after an alleged attack in the Bigg Market in the Newcastle City center left a man with a suspected broken jaw.
During the same incident Nile was also charged with a drunk driving offense when he found over the limit driving his new Range Rover.
Only last Sunday Nile was charged with bring drunk and disorderly in the Newcastle city center early on Sunday morning, so he now faces three charges.
Assault, drunk driving and being drunk and disorderly are the three charges, and we’re quite sure Newcastle will try to unload the 20 year-old striker in January.
Some barriers to that are his poor behavior, and the fact he signed a bumper five year deal at Newcastle just over a year ago.
It’s not the first time a young striker has had trouble with the law, as Andy Carroll was charged with assault a couple of times while he was still at his local club, Newcastle United.
But with Newcastle’s image starting to look up[ and the side doing so well this season – they are third top of the Premier League – the last thing the powers that be at Newcastle will want is this kind of publicity.
For the record Nile has appeared 58 times for Newcastle with three goals, and we’d be very surprised if he ever adds to that record.
It looks to us that Nile has cooked his goose at Newcastle, so to speak, and he’s wasting an awful lot of talent.
Comments welcome.

Comment #7The lengthy contract means little if the club opt to dismiss him on grounds of gross misconduct….if we sold him, we wouldn’t get more than maybe 1.5m id estimate and I’m sure the remainder of his contract would cost us more than that….he’s had plenty of chances to sort himself out, looks like he’s goosed this time

Comment #11I hope we can sack him when he is found guilty but look at Tevez he threatened to sue over a fine and got away with it. Far to much protection for players. No one will sign him, best hope is to give him away for free and hope someone takes a chance on him.

Guthrie has never worked on the right. only time he is effective is in the middle.
GG
Always the way. You just know he’s going to end up descending in to drugs and worse. It’s like so many times you see people like Rooney and you know if they weren’t playng football, he’d be nicking cars. At least Rooney took his chance to escape that I suppose. But Ranger makes Rooney look like a member of Mensa !!

Comment #22I would expect Marveaux to come in for Obertan.
Jonas & Raylor work together well. I wouldn’t split that pairing up.
We’ll miss Obertan’s speed.
At least there’s an international break for him to recover.
How does a toe get so badly infected he’ll miss a month? It must be a right mess, toenail gone, yellow puss .. like a lump of rancid foie gras …

Comment #27@17 Indian. Guthrie isn’t effective on right as Rotonda @19 says.
Would love to see SAMeobi challenge Obertan for the right wing slot wii him being both footed, pacey and the best dribbler at the club!

Comment #28I hate people that waste their lives. There are fans that work all hours to pay bills and get by. Buying tickets to games etc. So many people (including me) would snap up an opportunity to score goals for Newcastle with the kind of money he’s making. Makes me sick, probably the Goose I had for breakfast. Sack him!

Comment #29What a waste of talent this lad is. Every time I have watched him play, I have felt like I am on the verge of witnessing something special about to happen. His behaviour and attitude are the pits. The sooner he is gone, the sooner we can start looking for players with potential who are not d**kheads.

Comment #30@26 GeordieToon89 the reason they dont play is because their bodies are worth millions would not make sence to cause long term damage for a game or two, especially when cover is there

Comment #31Barton was worth more than Ranger is worth and MA let him walk for nought so I can see the same happening here. He’s attracting a lot of the wrong type of publicity and I think he has done enough to warrant being released.
And the sooner it happens the better. C’mon Mike he is a waste of time and space and is a distraction at the club show once again you are not to be messed with and give the daft twat the bullet.
What should happen is the FA should put a clause in their rules to the effect that if a player behaves in such a manner that the club has to release him then that player should be unemployable by all other members of the FA.
It may have stopped Tevez from behaving like a twat, it may have also stopped Barton from walking into another well paid contract after screwing up at the toon, and I recon Ranger just thinks he is that good that another team will come in for him and the golden goose will just continue at another club.
