Ryan Taylor – Goal Was For My Son Henry

Ryan Taylor was interviewed immediately after the game by ESPN, as it turned out that Ryan’s wonder goal after 29 minutes was the winner.

Ryan Taylor – fantastic winning goal today

Newcastle are now on 25 points and in second place in the Premier League but they carried a lot of luck in this game, especially in the second half.

An own goal after 11 minutes by Heitinger got Newcastle off to a good start from a good Danny Simpson cross, but then Ryan rifled yet another great goal for Newcastle on 29 minutes to make it 2-0.

Everton scored with just 30 seocnd remaining in the first half, and that set up a nervous and sometimes frantic second half for the Magpies, but they somehow hung on.

This is what Ryan had to say after the game when the interviewer said Newcastle were now in second place in the Premier League:

“Yes, I mean it’s just fantastic.”  But we’ve worked very hard this season and it shows what a great team we are.”

“We work hard for each other and we dig in those goals, and so far it’s working well.”

It’s been a tough week but 6 points and I’m very happy.”  That goal was for my new son Henry”

After Ryan scored he started to rock the cradle, to celebrate the recent birth of his son, and it was Ryan’s 9th goal for Newcastle and it’s hard to remember one that wasn’t a great goal.

And shortly after his goal today  his left wing cross eluded goalkeeper Howard and hit the cross-bar.

When I showed my wide Madeline Ryan’s great goal just after the game, she said he didn’t look old enough to be a father – you think that way when you get older. 😀

A good win by Newcastle today, and the lads ground out the win in a game that often wasn’t very pretty to watch.

But a win is a  win,  and at the moment we have both Chelsea and Man United chasing us. 😀

Howay The Lads!!
