Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player Against Everton?

As some of you may have known I’ve been having some trouble with my polls on the site for a while.

But in a rare bit of clear thinking (very rare) I fixed the problem about 10 minutes ago.

So here’s the poll for Saturday’s game:

Collo for me. Class as always. Guthrie a close second. The lad really has impressed me in his recent cameos for Tiote. But of course Raylor had that one moment of sublime brilliance. Never forget that one.

I’m suprisingly optimistic today and I’m thinking if we could beat manchesters and chelsea, we then have norwich and swansea back-to-back with those win we’d be on the 40 points. Thats our 1st objective of the season complete within the 1st half of the year. Even if we only get a draw from each of the ‘big 3’ we’ve got west brom and Bolton after swansea so 40 isn’t as hard as I 1st thought it would be.

Anyone seen Colo and Raylor are in the Sky Sports Quarter of the season team?

in the description of Colo its class haha they say.

“They currently sit in third spot owes as much to a defence tighter than their owner”

Haha, great stuff. So Pards isn’t the only one thinking that Raylor is probably as good as Enrique. After 11 matches he’s on Skys quarterly team, and Enrique isn’t.

    OUCH!!

I saw the Sky report…posted on an earlier thread. Fantastic to see us getting some well deserved recognition. Collo top CB in the Prem but can’t get a shout for the Argies. Not too upset about that tbh but our captain certainly deserves it.

Danny Guthrie…so talented on the ball.

He always played well alongside Barton, and now hes playing well alongside Cabaye.

Definately doesnt deserved to be dropped.

Robby Bobson – Guthrie is a class player on the ball and does work hard for the team(when hes in his actual position) which of course is CM but the problem with him has always been keeping him fit because he always seems to get in the team then start impressing then he’s injured and out for a while, he has got such a class range of passing and a very sweet strike on him its why he was often compared to Steven Gerrard and was tipped to become the same type player as him, providing he stays fit he is easily capable of keeping hold of the CM position

KK was the one to bring Guthrie aboard, must’ve seen something in him imo. Too bad he’s injury prone tho.

NUFC STEVE – that would be good yeah because a suppose we need to win the midfield battles but its too often teams try to do that playing 3 workers in the centre and going against the teams ethics.. the best way to beat teams like Man Utd/City and Chelsea is simply attacking them they dont expect it and it was proved yet again on Saturday when QPR played them QPR should have won.. also Norwich wer attacking Utd from the off at Old trafford and if they had took some of they 14 efforts on goal they would of won.. if we play our game to the best we can they we can easily manage atleast a draw and potentially 3 points a piece

Tell you what, ben Arfa is going to have to do soemthing pretty sublime to break in to this team now.

Love the competition and how everybody has stepped up to play to their full potential when called upon this season.

You can now finally see how the competition we have in the ranks is finally making us a better team.

    Love it!

Guthrie Man of the Match for me. His vision and passing was excellent. I would like to know the stats on that. Any of the back 4 were close behind again for the award again. Simpson’s crossing in the game was really good and dangerous for the opposition. It’s great to see that our first team is keeping class players like Santon, Marveaux and Ben Arfa from playing-even though I am dying to see them start matches. Long may it continue.

PS. WHAT A GOAL FROM RAYLOR!!! Haha fabulous! I am loving it.

Couple of class comments from LPool supporters in today’s online papers …

Andy Carroll hit the bar after just 5 minutes in Saturday’s game – but it took him only 2 minutes to hit it after the game ended.

£35M for Andy Carroll? They should send Mike Ashley to sort out the Greek economy.

International breaks make for a long wait to the next match. Been a lot of years since I was this impatient to see the lads out in the following game.

Disappointed to see Marveaux go out. I thought he was very bright until he was injured. Have a nagging feeling that he might be done for a longer spell. I think Cabaye will be OK though. So as well as Guthrie played, I think our midfield duo will be re-instated, with Tiote to close down and terrorize Silva. I think Sammy has shown enough to win the start on the right. If Besty is not fit, then I think we will see Shola back in up top. If the mids are overrun then Guthrie comes in to replace Shola. Don’t really see a place for HBA in this match though.

Have to say that Guthrie has come in and done a fantastic job.
Bearing in mind Tiote’s latest stuttering displays Guthrie probably deserves to edge him. As Cabaye is now unfit he should be able to comfortably slot in alongside Cheik when he returns.
The likes of Guthrie and Raylor are vital to the continued wellbeing of this club. Strong, versatile, determined and loyal – what more can you want from two excellent professionals?

reading in the sun today some jerk believe it was howard moanin.bout how weve to play top 3 to see how far weve come.. what a joke.. would expect us to lose them 3 9 times out of 10 the way you see how you bave improved is by winning the teams that were around you the year before and having the tightest defence is certainly ahowin how far weve come.. some people just cant accept we have started brilliantly.. believe it was howard who was saying.this

Tiote hasnt been stuttering he was poor for the first couple games because he missed pre-season and since then he’s been back to his best and now he’s injured… Guthries been class the last 3 games and deserves to play agreed.. wouldnt say he’s versatile infact Guthrie can actually only play CM, hoots played him RM and he was pretty much useless looked so uncomfortable and kept coming inside.. Raylor is versatile definately yeah, wouldnt say they both vital to the wellbeing of the club mind bit of an exaggeration maybe

@ GeordieToon89 – Think it’s more that we have players of that calibre to hold us togetehr when we have injuries.

Look at Guthrie – SLATED by most last season whenever he came on and was played out of position People don’t see just how good his range of passing really is until now and they see why all the managers have stuck with him.

Similar to Raylor. We are too quick to think the worst as opposed to supporting these ‘utility’ players.

Apart from Perch… He’s an absolute shower of SHITE!

You have to admit Guthrie isn’t the same player he was.He looks much stronger and now puts his foot in and can now keep up with the pace of the game.we knew he was a great passer and this has complemented his all round game???

just complained to Sky Sports about the fact their pundits are keep saying we havnt been tested am guna do the same to the BBC… sent them ours and Man Citys fixtures in which weve both played 8 of the same teams and the other 3 theyve played:
    Swansea(H)Bolton(A)Man Utd(A)
    and weve played:
    Arsenal(H)Sunderland(A)Stoke(A)
ours are clearly the harder set of fixtures yet they get all the credit

@ NUFCSteve – I do recall him sticking the boot in everywhere in the championship and when he got the chance, was one of our players of the season IMO.

His goals and assists were pretty handy to us and it was only when the bigger names came back (more so Barton) and the bad injuries that he was frozen out.

You are right but to be fair, he has been coming back from fitness a lot of the time but had more time out and also training with the squad this year that has perhaps helped.

I had to pipe up during the off season when people were wanting his head. It’s players like him and raylor that you want about to step in when called upon.

Ben Arfa must be chomping at the bit to get on every game, as would be Sammy, Abeid and SanToon. This competition within the squad is very healthy!

    4-4-1-1 vs City

    Krul.
    Simpson,STaylor,Collocini,RTaylor.
    Santon,Guthrie,Tiote,Guttierez.
    Gosling.
    Ba.

Subs- Elliot, Ferguson, Abeid, Vuckic, SAMeobi, Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands.

Wii Tiote certain to be fit and the others not so certain. We can still put out a strong team so if in doubt leave em out! Santon playing right midfield in front of Simpson at City would be a tactical master stroke defensively!

    NUFC STEVE
Possibly but we do a fair bit of defending from the front with Besty leading the line and Ba dropping deep so in order to get Guthrie in one of them would have to be dropped and for me they have been fantastic together this season plus against City we should be exploiting that Savic lad who doesnt like a physical game which Best brings
