It seems that Mobido Maiga is very likely to join Newcastle United in January.
Mobido Maiga – dream move to Newcastle for all players
The local press has said the fee for the Mali striker is around £6M and the deal is likely to take place in early January although Mobido will be leaving for the African Cup of Nations around mid-January.
The local Newcastle papers have also reported that Newcastle will triple his current wages he is getting at the Sochaux club, so it would appear to be a good move for all parties.
The 24 year-old went on strike in August to try to force his French club to transfer him to Newcastle, but Sochaux held firm, but what is very clear is that Maiga still sees a move to Newcastle to be a dream move, not only for him, but for all players.
The French club were unhappy with Newcastle at the time, and even reported the Tyneside club to FIFA for an illegal approach for their player, although we haven’t heard any more news on that since August.
But it appears that Newcastle have held talks with Sochaux since the end of the summer transfer window, and all signs are that the Mali striker will become a Newcastle player in January.
When Maiga was asked if the move to Newcastle will happen this is what he told Footafrica365:
“I do not know, we’ll see.”
“What is clear is that all players dream of playing for a club like that, and I hope it will happen, either this winter or in the summer.”
“There are no more problems with Sochaux, everything is back to normal.”
Mobido has suddenly gone up in our estimation, and it seems the chances that he will become a Newcastle player soon must be very high.
What do you think?

you all laughed at me before the season when i said we would finish 6th..
Even I am very much thrilled about our start, and do think that we will end higher than 6th.
Before the season started i could only see 5 teams better than ours:
Man C
Man U
Chelski
Tottenham
Liverpool
Yes Arsenal are out.. they were losing Fabregas and Nasri.. And they are not easy to replace! They are nothing without Persie in topform.
However.. Having watched many games this season (including every single one of own lads)
i can only see one team far better than ours! Man C
When i say team, i mean TEAM!
Yes, we dont have Rooney, we dont have Nani etc..
But our starting 11 has something that is much better than any other club this year..
TEAM spirit! We have a TEAM, not a bunch of individuals playing for their own good and ego.
And.. Remember the points in the book are there to stay.
10 points clear from 8th place. We should focus on going for champions league spot this year.. Next year could be to late.. And i think with the start of the season, Pardew must be thinking the same. Though he will not say that out loud..
I still say 6th place.. Though we could end higher.. And thats only because the top teams are struggling this year.. IMO

close to 1/3 even..!
Never the less… Before we met Spurs alot said that we only had easy games.. After the Spurs game alot said the same.. Before the Stoke game alot said it again.. And yet after beating Stoke its the same.. we havent had any reel hard games.
Yet again..
18 points better than the sames games last year!
5 of the teams we have met ended higher thans us last year.
And… There are no easy games in the best league of the world!
11 games unbeaten is fantastic. only two teams have done that so far.. No coincidence i reckon.

Comment #14we will in no way finish 2nd.. for 1 we dont have the overall squad to sustain a challenge at the top for automatic CL qualification.. i would still be happy with top 10 but cos of our start a think i expect a top 8 now with the push for Europa League but to say we’l finish 2nd is about 3 or 4 years to optimistic

thats my point..
I still say 6th place as i said before the season started. But it could be higher.. I can say it, but Pards can only think it ;o)
But if we are still unbeaten or 4-6 points richer after the next 3 games, he has to come out and say that we are candidates for champions league spot

Comment #17I notice a lot of people are talking about how we’ve picked up points from teams we didn’t last year but you have to bear in mind form changes every year. E.g this time last year bolton were being praised and some even thought they may qualify for a europa place. This season though many have them as favourites to go down.

Comment #18Complacency is our biggest foe atm mate. Never ever 11-14 games do u say “CL next”, our midfield is fine, everywhere else we lack quality in depth to sustain a top 4 fight.
Unless the new heating performes miracles during the winter, we’ll have injury struggles just like everyone else.
I refuse to “predict” or “state” a final position this early in the season. Passed christmas and a couple of additions in January, and we’ll talk.
I have hopes like everyone else, but never would i dare to put things in stone this early.

Where did you get that cr@p from lol? And it’s neither good nor bad news. No one cares about Blackburn Rovers.
I wouldn’t want some bunch of rich arabs throwing away 100+ years of hard work & history for some instant success. Would you??? We’re doing things the right way as it is.

Comment #23At the end of the day we are in the position to have the cl debate – that in itself is amazing.
Too early to say where we will end up as there are quite a few variables such as injuries, african cup, january signings etc.
I think we will have a good season but there are easily 4 squads stronger than us.

Comment #25who will play right midfield on saturday with obertan and Marveu both out?
I don’t think Pardew will trust Ben Arfa or Sammi
He will probably put guthrie there which as we all know
won’t work. What about Santon on the right?

Comment #26Just don’t know this guy, so no comment. Only, must be a cut above Ba, Best and that’s hard to do! On your previous articles Ed, maybe the stadium to be called ‘Nike’? Would that be the American pronunciation (ie. like Mikey) or the British (like Mike)? Confusing, but good to be associated with such a rich company. On DL comments: Wow. Was he drunk? Is that how he talks to his mum? Is he educated? But, hats off! He spoke a lot of truths (yep, including the one about wor hero) and shows he has guts.

Comment #29Cyprus and Rotunda, you are chumps to think that DL is ‘telling it like it is’, or that that sort of behaviour is what should be expected of a CEO at Newcastle United. Even from a selling sponsorship point of view, its badly counter-productive and just stirring up a storm the club could do without right now. The man is an idiot and an unsavoury one at that. If you go over what he says and compare it with the truth, and with previous statements, it is nonsense. Note that he doesn’t mention the likes of Xisco, the forgotten south american, Dennnis Wise, ‘Crazy Joe’ Kinnear or the fact that DL and MA are confirmed liars. What he said about the dignified manager of a rival club, Chris Hughton is a disgrace. We owe him nothing but gratitude and respect. Maybe he WASN’T sure about Ben Arfa. That was his opinion. Truth is, we still aren’t sure, are we?
And as for KK, he was cool and collected enough to take this pair of fools to court and win.
Having a bitter viper like Llambias at the heart of a club on the up is bad news, in my opinion. If they are looking for players of the right character who will fit in, it should start at the top. Keep Pardew and the buying policy, Kepp Graham Carr. But get the stripping bingo boy out and we’ll do even better. He’s our own small-time Berlusconi. An embarrassment.
