It seems that Yohan Cabaye passed a fitness test yesterday, and could play for France tonight when they entertain Belgium in Paris.
The news is that Yohan looks set to start tonight’s game for France.
Cabaye joined Newcastle from French Champions Lille in the summer, and has been an immediate hit in the English Premier League, which has seen Newcastle go to 3rd top of the league after eleven games.
Certainly Yohan’s cultured play in midfield has been a standout for the Newcastle side this season, and we’ll not even mention his two great goals against Wigan and Blackburn.
The 25-year-old had to leave the game in the first half in Newcastle’s last game against Everton at St. James’ Park with a groin strain, and there have been worries about how bad the injury is.
Cabaye was on the bench in Saturday’s 1-0 win over the USA in Paris, and was not used, but the likelihood is that he will play at least the first half tonight in Paris.
No doubt Alan Pardew will have been in contact with French manager Laurent Blanc, to make absolutely sure Yohan is 100% fit, otherwise he should not play.
We have to hope that Cabaye comes through the France game uninjured tonight, so that he will be available for the game at Manchester City on Saturday, but there’ll be hell to pay if he gets injured.
For the record, the €5M bargain buy from Lille in the summer has so far played for Newcastle 13 times with two great goals and three assists.
And Yohan is already a huge favorite with Newcastle fans, not just because of his form this season, but that he seems to just love the Newcastle club, the area and the fans too.
Who could ask for anything more?
