Pardew Tells Players – Avoid Defeat And Make Newcastle History

Alan Pardew has come out with a rallying call to his players for tomorrow’s tough encounter at Manchester City.

Alan Pardew – urges players to make Newcastle histroy

Newcastle have gone 11 games without defeat, which equals the best Newcastle have started a league season – ever –  so a draw or a win tomorrow will make Newcastle history.

That would be tremendous for Alan Pardew himself, because nobody will be ever be able to take that away from him, and he will achieved it before he’s even had a full year at the club.

That will be some achievement for Alan.

Alan Pardew is a confident guy, and that’s how he comes over today, and it apparently was an emotional and revved up manager who had this to say to the press today:

“Avoid defeat and we make history. That is something we can focus on.”  “It’s a fantastic target for us and if you can’t put your body on the line for that you shouldn’t be playing for Newcastle United.

“We have to approach it with a tactical plan to win the game.”  “Otherwise you will get beaten, it won’t just fizzle into a draw. We’ve looked at every game they have played this year and at segments of games.

“We feel that defensively we need to be very tight as a unit.”   “Of course you are envious. Every manager would want 24 internationals in your squad.”

“I think we looked at their squad and they had nobody who stayed behind in the international break. So, it goes to show the quality they have.”

“Unfortunately for them they can only pick 11 and use three subs. We will go there with a confident team and we can put on a good show – and come out with some sort of good result.”

This will be a time when Alan will need to inspire his troops to go out and try to win this game against the only other unbeaten side in the Premier League, with a squad worth north of £800M.

And make no mistake about it at all – if Newcastle can win this game, they will make news around the world, as they will have beaten the best team money can buy.

But money cannot but team spirit, and that’s the edge Newcastle have in tomorrow’s game.

Howay The Lads!!

I think if we play well, keep it tight at the back, and hit them on the counter we have every chance of getting a result tomorrow.

Could be a massive day for us, and people might finally start giving us the credit we deserve.

Your last two paragraphs say it all Ed. Saw again the best scenes of the game (7-8 years ago??) against Man U. when we completely hammered them at home, hit the post, ran them rugged and… they won, Cantona goal. Coupled with the 4-3 Liver, those are the worst results (not games, one still hailed as the best PL ever) I remember. Now, if we can do a Man U (we will not dominate play, but we’ll get a couple of chances) and Milner is off his game (say, for old times sake), and we get a little lucky, we could get something…

anyone else heard that wer trying to get Gary Cahill? apparently wer going to offer around £8million in january to steal the march on people as he’s available for free at end of season and other clubs wont pay for that for him in jan would be a class signing but suggests to me that Colo will be away at the end of the season

Guthrie has been great in the middle replacing Tiote, so I’m not worried. Would have like Oberton to be back though, he did a great job of keeping Bale quite in the Spurs game cause he is so quick.
    Pace will win this game

If cabaye an guthrie are on fire 2mara we will win

cabaye has travelled most in the league this season

so its gona be intresting to se silva with cabaye stuck to him personally i think he wont get a sniff and i hada say guthrie has changed his way the last season or so its almost as if he has been watching tiote an saying i wanna play like that

championship season he woulda go the ball in are half in an just huffed it up sometimes it work but not he would do a nice we turn then spray it about the pitch

kevymartins – a dont think its down to Guthrie watching Tiote a think its also a big part of the managers, if you look at how we played under hoots we tended to get the ball and do a long range pass for carroll to knock down or hold up but under pardew wer actually trying to play football which is really Guthries game and hes starting to shine because he can really express himself on the pitch..obviously tiote would of played some part as his defensive side has improved aswel but you see what i mean about the management styles and how hes adapted

We’re giving Man City way too much respect I feel. I hope that doesn’t show on the pitch and we give it a good go.

    Fight Fire with Fire!!

I say we should attack from the off, catch them by surprise. If we manage to grab a quick goal they will get nervous and might slip up. With our amazing team spirit I expect us to keep battling right to the final whistle something I don’t see City doing.

We have a chance and they have to lose against someone sometime.

I would love it if Alan Pardew broke the clubs best start record he fully deserves all the plaudits.

    HWTL!

As for City they aren’t invincible but they are fantastic and I don’t think we are giving them too much respect.

They have a top class GK, fantastic defence, best Midfield in the league and a embarressing forward line with too many options
