Taylor’s Nose OK – Tiote, Best And Obertan Fit For Red Devils

Good news this morning from Alan Pardew on the injury front.

Steven Taylor – after the game on Saturday

Alan believes that Cheick Tiote, Leon Best and Gabriel Obertan will all be available for the tough game coming up at Old Trafford on Saturday.

And that nose of Steven Taylor’s appears to be just fine, after he was seen having treatment on it again on the sidelines in that second half – the news is that it was not broken again.

Good news for Steven’s potential modelling career. 😀

Alan Pardew talked about the injuries to the Newcastle press today:

“We heard that Cheick trained very well on Saturday morning.”  “That’s really great news for us. He would have been a player for us at Man City.”  “I think he and Obertan will be available for Man United. “

“I really hope so – it’ll improve my options.”  “Leon Best just didn’t make it; he trained Thursday and Friday, but just felt his groin.” “I think he’ll be fine.”

Most Newcastle fans agree that Cheick was a big miss on Saturday afternoon, and his extra energy and bite could have helped Newcastle in the central midfield at the Eithad .

We expect Cheick to start on Saturday at Old Trafford, and put in a good performance for Newcastle, but of course there’s a danger that Man United will then come after the Ivory Coast International in January.

And there’s news that Chelsea will definitely bid for him in January, for the second successive January, and we just have to hope Cheick is still a Newcastle player come February 1st.

It seems that Steven Taylor took a  whack to the face in the second half,  and that caused his nose to swell up again, but it’s not broken, that’s the good news.

Alan Pardew talked about that Steven Taylor nose today:

“It’s getting a bit rubbery, that nose! But we expect him to be OK.”

Ans Steven himself verified that his nose was not broken for a second time:

“Thankfully there is nothing broken this time.”

And how many players playing in a mask to protect a previously broken nose could put in the gutsy and strong performance that Taylor put in for Newcastle on Saturday?

Not many English center-backs, that’s for sure.

Steven epitomized the Newcastle character and fighting spirit on Saturday, with another  terrific performance once again in the very heart of  the Newcastle defense.

This local lad is definitely back to his very best form for his home town club.

Even though Ba has got some many goals, would love to see Best play up top with Benny! Think theyre styles compliment each other much more than Ben Arfa and Ba and lets face it, when Ben Arfa hits top form (and he looked good against city, everything came through him) he’s going to be one of the first names on the team sheet!

Theres no way at all to justify dropping Ba at the moment. He’s on fantastic form and is one of the top scorers in the league.

As much as I like Best, if we’re going to be playing HBA as a withdrawn striker then Best is going to have to get used to the bench.

Did he have enough to shift Jonas, Marv, Sammy, Fergy and the few others that can play left wing though kevy?

I reckon the lad knew and the club knew he was never really going to trouble the first team, best for player and club.

    What a c**t!

Before you insult me why not look at what was said. If we’re playing with HBA as withdrawn striker and had to choose either Ba or Best, I’d choose Ba.

4-3-3 wasnt an option, and shouldnt be if thats your team. Absolutely no width down the right with your formation, unless you’re playing tiote as a winger haha!

kevy man, he’s got a point! Ba is our top goal scorer! We’re just lucky enough to have 3 great players for 2 positions ….but more lucky to have 3 players in between shola and a first team spot! God knows what will happen when Miaga comes in january! (think thats a done deal)

I think the only sermo who will be dropped if ben ARFA plays in starting 11 then its best or if we want to play both ba and best together then i guess we must play ben ARFA in right wing and drop OBERTAN

    4-2-2-1-2
    Cabaye Tiote
    Sameobi Jonas
    Ben Arfa
    Ba Best

    The new entertainers
Thant should ensure a 5-4 scoreline – one way or the other.

Best is a good squad striker.
I probably rate Shola as better than Best.

Ba is far better than both of them.

HBA & Ba for me from now on.

If someone can please objective look at the city game and tell me how often Ben Arfa lost possession compared to other other outfield players. And note, City are no better at pressurising than Tottenham or Stoke. Just a lot better holding the ball. The only place for Arfa in the team is on the wing, there he can dribble as much as he wants. Our best attacking threat through the midfield is always Best and Ba. Don´t fool yourself because of 1-2 succesful dribbles by Arfa. He needs to improve a lot to be able to play in midfield.

Ben Arfa is NOT was NOT a midfielder
    against ManC.
Ben Arfa’s role was/is to unlock defences and create opportunities.
If he only creates an opportunity one time in 4/5 attempts, he’s done his job.

Midfield is different – they have to be patient, keep possession and work towards feeding Ben Arfa in a situation where he may be able to create something.

Good news, just what we needed after the defeat. A full-strength starting eleven will give us a great chance to get something out of the Man Utd game.

joejoe has a point- I like Ben Arfa a lot but it’s going to take time for him to recover fully. Remember, he hadn’t really had a chance to settle fully into the side before the injury in the first place. He does give us some flair and attacking options, plus we all know that he has a match winnming wonder goal in his locker, but he does still give the ball away too much and isn’t quite up to full speed yet. He might have to sit a few more games on the bench until he gets fully fit as we don’t want to alter our tactics too much just to include him in the starting eleven. Tiote and Cabaye have sealed their place in centre mid, so if Pards thinks we should be playing 4-4-2 for certain games then I’m afraid HBA might have to sit a few out. It won’t be forever…

Ben Arfa may be our most skillful player, but Best and Ba are our best strike partnership right now. Ben Arfa doesnt complement Ba as well as Best and Best doesnt score as many goals as Ba.

toonbrother – Yeah but – No, but – Yeah but

Ba and Best are our best strike force on performances to date this season, but Ben Arfa hasn’t had the chance yet to prove what he can do.
You can’t really judge him on a couple of sub appearances plus the game against ManC.

Not disagreeing – just saying the jury is still out on our best formation, which is likely to be different against different opposition.

According to the pro stats at the weekend, BA is now the most profilic striker in the Premier League (based on chances to conversions).

No way will he be dropped.

And despite what everyone says about Best, he is not good enough and should never be picked ahead of HBA.

HBA can unlock defences. Only player we have that can do that. HBA must start at Old Trafford.

Only two changes will be Tiote in for Guthrie, and Obertan in for Sammy. Or he will switch Guthrie to the right wing and rest Obertan to the bench.

When you guys talk about Ben Arfa on the wing you always say the right wing but in France he played a lot on the left and was excellent there,Jonas can play on the right.
Obertan can learn off Sameobi and put the ball in early as I think Benny will also do.
Good type of headache for AP
