Newcastle Can Break 39 Year Hoodoo At Old Trafford

French International Yohan Cabaye is one reason why Newcastle have stunned the football world with their excellent start to the season.

Yohan Cabaye – in action last Saturday

And while it was always going to be a tough job at the Etihad stadium last Saturday to maintain the 11 game winning streak, we have a decent chance of taking something out of the game on Saturday at Old Trafford.

It’s 39 years since the lads last won at Old Trafford, way back in 1972, so surely that signals that streak could come to an end on Saturday?

Yohan says Newcastle will go to win the game:

“We want to win against Manchester United. I think we can.” “We will be playing for a win on Saturday.” “This is a big game at a big stadium, but it’s good for us.”

“This week we have a tough game against Man United and then Chelsea at home.” “They are two good games, but two tough games.”

“We can test what we are made of and what we can do. We must see what we can do against the league’s big teams.”  “Therefore for us, they are big games.”

“It’s been a very good start here.”  “I am happy with that and I want to keep winning. It’s important for everybody here we do that.”

“We want to stay at the top of the Premier League and get back to winning a lot of matches. The team spirit is still very good here.”

Cabaye became a hit with Newcastle fans as soon as he arrived at Newcastle in June, when during his first interview he talked in glowing terms of the history and former glories of Newcastle United.

We knew we had a good player after that first interview he gave, and at first we wondered which club he was talking about. 😀

But every other French player that has arrived, in fact all seven new players,  have spoken about Newcastle in the very best way.

It’s good to have players at the club who want to play at Newcastle, and it seems to work too, with  Newcastle making the best start in the league with an 11 game unbeaten run, for only the third time in their history.

We think with some luck, which we didn’t have at the Etihad Stadium, we can indeed come away with all 3 points against the Red Devils, and that’s based on current form of the two sides.

Howay The Lads!!

Sky Sports are reporting that Tranquilo Barnetta is one of Leverkusens long term absentees for the match with chelski tonight..

Has he still not been let out that hotel?? Beginning to get concerned for the lad.

@ LewSpi – He’ll be useless to us now, driven insane by the freeview channels and daytime TV with no contact with the external world other than the occasional room service call!
