Ryan Taylor has been one of the success stories at Newcastle this season.
Micah Richards rifles home after Ryan Taylor failed to clear
But his two errors just before half time last Saturday at the Etihad Stadium, meant that Newcastle went in 2-0 down at the break and they couldn’t recover and ended up losing the game 3-1, their first defeat in the league this season.
So it’s an open question if Ryan will keep his place on Saturday at Old Trafford, where the full-backs will be sorely tested by Manchester United’s wide men.
Ryan seems to be enjoying the season and says the pressure is not on Newcastle at all, and thinks the lads can quickly get back on track:
“Nobody expects us to win the league, and there’s no pressure on us whatsoever,” “We can go and enjoy games. The gaffer has his own targets but, as players, you just want to do the best you can.”
“We’re in the top four, and a lot of people say we can’t finish there. If we do though, it’s unbelievable. We want to get to the targets set and better them, if possible. Then it’ll have been a good season.”
“We can’t start looking too far ahead. You wouldn’t look beyond the Chelsea game on December 3 for instance.” “You have to play these teams regardless, and, at some stage, it’s a 38-game campaign.”
“So you somewhere along the line you’ll meet Man United and Chelsea.” “It’s pointless looking down the fixture list for when we play the teams that have just been promoted, because you have to focus on the next game.”
“Doing anything else will give you a false reading of the situation.” “It’s an old cliché to say ‘take each game as it comes’, but at this club it seems to be working.”
“It will be nice to get a goal again,” “But it’s all about the team, I was buzzing with the goal against Everton, because it meant so much to personally in so many different ways.”
“If I can score a few more than great. At this place, it’s all about the team and not individuals.”
Taylor has not missed a league game this season, but Davide Santon played for the Reserves in yesterday’s 4-0 defeat against Everton, and Alan Pardew was watching the game.
We don’t know what Alan Pardew will decide to do for Saturday’s game, but we are betting that he will keep the defense unchanged at Old Trafford, and see how they can recover from some slackness that crept into their game on Saturday.
Taylor of course is also good for Newcastle on the attack and has scored three great goals for Newcastle this season and 9 in his career at Newcastle.
He has now appeared 67 times for Newcastle since signing from Wigan in January of 2009, as a make-weight in Charles N’Zogbia going the other way for £6M plus Ryan.

Comment #4I keep saying this; THE BEST FORM OF DEFENCE IS TO ATTACK! We are not particularly a fantastic team to watch when going forward! But defensivly, we’re good. However, there’s no point sitting back to absorb pressure when we play big teams like we did against city on saturday. That only leads to mistakes and goals against us, because we allow them keep coming at us. What we should do against man u is to keep them busy with attacking play. We stay vigilant at the back, but ensure that we attack them good. This way, we keep the pressure on them and off us. When we absorb pressure, we commit mistakes like what happened to ryan taylor. But if u noticed we put pressure on them and got a goal.
There’s no need to change the team. Raylors been good. Simpsons been fantastic. We just need to ensure that we keep the pressure on man-u. Instead of soaking the pressure from their wingers. P.s sammy ameobi is NOT a match starter for goodness sakes. He is a sub! Dunno why pardew keeps starting him.
This is my team for the game.
Krul
Simo,sylor,colo,raylor
Obtn,tiote,cabaye,guti hba, ba

Comment #6dimkinss – agree with that lineup to start with.
Obe to strat with – special game for him – he’ll be up for it.
I reckon Sameobi will get a decent runout, though.

Comment #10Off topic a bit but I have the awful feeling that Colo may “do an enrique” and put off signing a new deal in the hope that a “bigger” club comes along for him!

Comment #11@Jamsha, No disrespect but could you start typing words fully? instead of e.g. ‘al meet yi at d bar l8a’ it is annoying as hell and pretty difficult to read for anyone that does not sit on computers all day.
I would love it if we beat Man Poo. so unbelievably overrated and extremely lucky to be where they are considering their form over the last 2-3 seasons. Man U are as beatable as Wigan.
They do not like teams having a go at them so as long as we play like we have every game this season, we could potentially win the match. I think 1 point is the least we should expect to get from them, I am not always this confident but, we could take the 3 points HWTL

Get your facts right
Sameobi has only started at city and that too because Marv, obertan and Best were injured for that game.

Comment #16And yes the pressure ain’t on us and we can be positive at old trafford coz we ain’t the defending champions trailing by 5points. That does’nt mean a gungho approach which will play into their hands. Do not concede and hit them on the break using obertan’s pace similar to stoke and give the ball to ben arfa in the attacking third where it will be a risk to foul him. Hope ba brings his shooting boots.

Comment #23Can’t say I am too fond of the tactic to knacker teams out so that other teams can beat them…and I would seriously doubt that we “knackered” them, they were just poor against a well drilled Napoli side

About sammy, I know, ws a mistake. Just that the way pardew talks about sammy, makes it look like sammys already been given the starting place for the next couple o games. As for hitting man u on the break, well, I tell you, if we play defensive/counter attacking against man u? They will keep coming at us and they will get goals. We are to hold on to the ball and try to play a PURPOSEFUL ATTACKING game!
