Reports In Scotland Link Newcastle With Scott Brown

There is more news today that Newcastle could be after Celtic captain Scott Brown,  once the January transfer window opens.

Scott Brown – Newcastle linked again with this player

There was news of this in the summer, but it came to nothing,  although as long as Scott Brown doesn’t sign a new deal at Celtic the more he will be linked away with a move from the Glasgow giants.

The Daily Record in Scotland is reporting that Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is preparing a move for Brown in January, and his contract runs out next June, when he could become a free agent.

There is a concern that midfielder Cheick Tiote will move to Chelsea in January, and if the offer from the London club is big enough and daft enough, then Mike Ashley will accept it, and you have to believe Newcastle will already have a player lined up to replace Cheick.

You would expect that, but that didn’t happen when Newcastle sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool last January, and the team were short of a striker for the rest of the season.

But with Newcastle doing so well in the Premier League, it would be foolish to jeopardize Newcastle’s excellent chance of finishing in the top seven this season.

Newcastle are currently in 4th place and a  full 7 points about 8th placed Aston Villa, with a much better goal difference too.

We don’t know if this story is true, but we have to believe the club are looking for a potential replacement for Tiote in January,  should Chelsea come in with a ridiculousness high offer for Cheick, and we wouldn’t put that past the London club.

Scott Brown is 26 and  moved from Hibs to Celtic in the summer of 2007 for £4.4M on a five year deal, and he has played 169 times for Celtic with 15 goals and 27 times for Scotland with two goals.

We’re 10 points ahead of Villa Ed.

I dont think this story is true, he’s more a Wigan/Wolves quality player.

Bore off “Jail for Ashley”!! Change the record man same old s***e every day.

This is something I can’t see coming off at all as well thankfully.

Oh and Ed, we are on 25 points, Villa are on 15, so we are 10 ahead, not 7 😉

I don’t like scott brown as a replacement for tiote. I don’t like his style of play, i don’t like his temperament, i don’t like his range of passing and most of all i don’t like his gormless face! we’ve got better midfielders at the toon already in Guthrie & Abeid anyway!

This can’t be true because he is not FRENCH speaking!!! Although I suppose the Celt language has similar origins 🙂

i would agree with most comments above except a few. i wouldnt want scott brown as a straight replacement for tiote, scott brown is a playmaker who can play centre mid just as well as right mid. tiote is a break up player so it doesnt make sense. but i will have to strongly disagree with comments above saying that guthrie and abeid are better than brown because thats just nonsence, scott brown is far from my favourite player when its spl talk (yes as much as i hate to admit dundee utd are my spl team) but on the international scene hes priceless.. well worth 2million BUT NOT a straight replacement for tiote
