Cheick Tiote Still A Doubt For Saturday

Alan Pardew set a target of 3 points for the three games against the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea.

Cheick Tiote – still a doubt for Saturday

And we can even get a second successive defeat at Old Trafford and then beat Chelsea at St. James Park to meet Alan’s target,  but it would also be good to get back on another unbeaten run.

Alan  Pardew told the Newcastle press today and talked about last Saturday’s defeat:

“I would not say it was one to enjoy, for us it is about getting back on the unbeaten run and looking for the result we need to do that.”

“They had a difficult night against Benfica in the Champions League.” “We need to maximize everything we can at Old Trafford – we have to make them work hard for anything they get.”

“It is a difficult-looking game but so was Manchester City and we created chances there.” “With more fortune this time we will see what we can produce.”

“I don’t need to speak about Sir Alex Ferguson – what he has achieved speaks for itself.”  “City are ahead of them in the table and won there recently and that will have hurt them as you can understand.”

“Sir Alex probably will not be happy we lost to Man City, as determined as we all were to get a result.”  “However, we go to Old Trafford as determined to get a result for our fans.”

“I expect Obertan will be back, Cheick is also still doubtful, but we still have good spirit in the camp.”

It may be a good time to meet Manchester United, and Ferguson walked out of  the post-game press conference, when reporters asked quite rightly whether this side were struggling, after they could only draw 2-2 with Benfica on Tuesday night.

And the defense again looked a little dodgy and gave away two bad goals, and now Manchester United need a point in their last Champions League Group C game against Basel to ensure qualification for the knockout stages.

After reaching three finals in the last four years it must be a scary though they will not make the knockout round.

It’s a big surprise that Cheick Tiote is still a doubt for Saturday, as we thought he would almost  certainly be back, but Alan may be playing some mind games with Alex, since Tiote will make a huge difference for Newcastle if he can make the game.

Here’s hoping.

My one criticism of AP. The info he gives out on injuries. So hazy at times.

Pardew should shut up about player’s injuries, because either he or the medical staff haven’t a clue. He has been confident about Tiote’s fitness for 3 weeks now, and he still isn’t fit. Only another 6 weeks and he’s off to either Chelsea or the African Nations.

FFS he`s been doubtful for ages now why not say he is injured and we are not sure how long for? Saying doubtful means he might be fit in time, well that was 4-5 weeks ago we need him back!

Even if he is fit he is going to be rusty – remember how long it took him to get up to speed at the beginning of the season after missing a lot of pre-season. Might be too much of a risk at somewhere like Old Trafford.

Seriously, this whole Tiote injury saga is starting to look too much like Carroll last season. Hope they are not planning to flog him in Jan, otherwise we’ll be in deep trouble. Honestly, Guthrie and Gosling are decent but just not good enough for a team challenging for Europe. We need to bring in a CM with real class, like Dzagoev, but of course MA won’t fork out the cash.

Tiote saga? like Carroll? that lanky idiot fell off a bar stool and ripped his thigh, he was genuinely injured, you seriously think the best way to maximise profit for a player that you want to sell is to pretend he is injured? Some people really need to wake up and stop being so delusional

he is desperately needed for Manu match, especially if Rooney plays as he is vital in limiting Rooneys ability to drop into midfield to link the play and start attacks.

If they play 442 which they have been, then we are a good chance if Tiote plays, as him and Cabaye are a class above anyone they have in the middle, we could really boss the middle of the park if they play well.

“And the defense again looked a little dodgy and gave away two bad goals”

They had 5 consecutive clean sheets before the Benfica game. I do hold some hope we can get something there but it would be an outstanding result. We are capable though.

I love this conspiracy stuff with Tiote!
Sum saying He’s not playing coz he’s being sold in 5/6 weeks and Ashley won’t risk him getting injured coz it could cost him his quick & easy £20+mil! wow it could be true! but he could also just be injured or not fit enough to play yet!!
If the latter is the case why do Pardew and Tiote himself keep saying he’ll be playing the next game right up until the night before? Was it just the last game that this was the case for?
or is Tiote fit & ready for the manure game and We are just playing Fergie at his own game of lying about an important players availability for the game? Remember the time when fergie lied about Rooney being injured for the bayern munich game & he played him from the start?
