Danny Simpson is under pressure from manager Alan Pardew to sign his new contract at Newcastle.
Thanks pal – Krul congratulates Simpson after amazing goal line clearance
It’s a five year deal that’s on the table for him, but he has so far refused to sign it, as he looks for improved terms, but thankfully the contract situation has not affected the Salford-born player’s form.
Danny was one of many who had a good game for Newcatsle on Saturday afternoon, as the Newcastle defense somehow were able not to concede, after Demba Ba had equalized from a controversial penalty on 64 minutes.
And it was a breathtaking clearance off the goal line after 87 minutes from Danny Simpson, that stood out as the former Manchester United player was there to clear off the line from Hernendez, as Tim Krul seemed to have been finally beaten.
But the lads held out, much to the anger of Red Devils boss Alex Ferguson, who was less than classy in his comments after the game.
This is what Danny Simpson told the Newcastle press today:
“I don’t score many goals so this is probably the closest I can get to it.” “To come back here and help my team get a point was brilliant.”
“It was just my instinct to be back on the line because you know what Hernández is like in the box. He is so good, he gets things. I just got myself there.”
“The last ten minutes was just wave after wave. There were blocks, clearances, headers – we have been doing that all season.”
“My clearance off the line would not have meant anything had we not gone on to get a point.” “Especially with ten men we battled and dug in.”
“I have watched United over the years, and they are known for last-minute goals,” “The manager said before the game, it is not about 90 minutes it is about 98 or whatever.”
“It is true and you just have to concentrate. You have to defend well and dig in.” “People might say we were a bit lucky, but (we showed) the fight, the energy and the work-rate.”
“When you go 1-0 down at Old Trafford they usually go on to win. They have 70-odd thousand cheering them on. It was a bit of an unfortunate goal we conceded as well.”
“Tayls hit the ball against Hernández and Tim did his best but could not get there.” “It was one of those things, a freak goal. The main thing is we kept our heads after that and kept going.”
“When it went to 1-1, you know what is going to happen. Tim Krul made some great saves. It was a great result and it feels like a win.”
It was a good response from our lads to their first defeat of the season the week before at the Etihad Stadium.
And as things turned out a Red Devils win could have had Manchester United gain two points on on their rivals City, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Liverpool yesterday.
Next up for Newcastle is another tough game at home to Chelsea in an early kick-off game on Saturday afternoon – 12:45 pm.
That game is probably the easiest of the last three, and a win would mean that Newcastle will have taken 4 points from the three tough games against three of the top five sides in the league.
If Newcastle put in one of their better performances at St. James’ Park on Saturday, there is also no reason why we cannot take all three points against Chelsea, and remain in 4th position in the league.
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #2There’s talk that they want Tiote for £16m too. Well my reply would be O.K its £16m for Tiote but we’ll have Hernández as a make weight! That should put them off. Its about time we started to push our weight about in the transfer market if reporters ask about if we will sell anyone our reply should be maybe if we do a swap or plus cash for one of their star players.
IMHO I do not think M.A will sell any of our best players UNLESS it is a stupid bid, just like last year. Don’t forget although A.C was a firm favourite with the toon supporters he was only valued at around £2m at the start of the season AND M.A turned down £30m for him! It was good business to stick out for £35m which helped to build our TEAM as it stands. I’ve got to ssay I like the way M.A is doing business now, it took a bit of getting used to but look at the results. I dont care how much he makes out of the club as long as we play football line we did on Saturday, it made me proud, and thats not happend with respect to our team for years.
Well done everyone at the toon. HWTL’s.

Amazing concentration levels all season.
No wonder Santon can’t get in the team.
I’ve never seen a defence so committed to blocking shots.
They are brilliant.
New contracts for Colo & Simmo asap please.

Comment #4It Maybe a good idea for the morale/ego of Santon if we give Raylor or Simmo a rest alternatively after the Chelsea match.
If were sitting pretty on 55mins against Norwich chuck him on from then for Raylor & lets see if he can make the same blocks that Raylor, simmo & Saylor make from there right the way through to the end of the swansea game a week later. He can definitley improve on those gaps Raylor kept leaving for ”the little pee(taker)” to roll into against Man utd.
Oh & on that Pen Hba earned us ”EARNED US!” on saturday thats what i call justice+1. Their free kick was a 50/50 ball they got to a split second before us and the result was the Manure players foot/leg was made contact without any foresight or planning ”unintentionally” thus an unjust free kick was awarded that led to that shite goal they got! The same thing happend with Rio & HBA but it was in the penalty area and we were awarded an unjust penalty to even the score in my opinion anyway!
