Some bad news this morning that both Cheick Tiote and Danny Guthrie are out injured and will not play on Saturday.
Danny Guthrie – out from four to six weeks
And the news is that Danny Guthrie could be missing up to six weeks with a groin problem, and that’s not good news for a Newcastle squad that lost Steven Taylor for the season last Saturday with an Achilles injury.
And it’s hardly encouraging news on Tiote who was initially out with a slight knee problem, but the Ivorian has missed all six games since the Wigan game back on October 22nd.
The Guthrie injury is yet another unfortunate blow to Alan Pardew, as the paper-thin nature of the Newcastle squad is starting to show through.
The good news this morning is that Coloccini has a chance to play alongside James Perch in central defense at Norwich, but now with Guthrie and Tiote out, we wonder who will come in as the defensive midfielder.
Alan talked about the defense today to the local press, but as we expected he doesn’t want to say too much about his plans:
“I don’t want to give too much away.” “We had no centre halves by the end against Chelsea and 10 men on the pitch.”
“Tamas is an option and up to speed he is looking to kick-start his Newcastle career” “Davide and Danny are options.”
This is not good news about either Danny Guthrie or Cheick Tiote, but maybe Haris Vuckic could get his chance with Cabaye moving to defensive midfield?
Of course we also have Dan Gosling who get his long awaited chance to shine on Saturday, and Ben Arfa can also play in the attacking central midfield position too.
What do you think?
