Guthrie Out Up To Six Weeks – Tiote Also Misses Norwich Game

Some bad news this morning that both Cheick Tiote and Danny Guthrie are out injured and will not play on Saturday.

Danny Guthrie – out from four to six weeks

And the news is that Danny Guthrie could be missing up to six weeks with a groin problem, and that’s not good news for a Newcastle squad that lost Steven Taylor for the season last Saturday with an Achilles injury.

And it’s hardly encouraging news on Tiote who was initially out with a slight knee problem,  but the Ivorian has missed all six games  since the Wigan game back on October 22nd.

The Guthrie injury is yet another unfortunate blow to Alan Pardew,  as the paper-thin nature of the Newcastle squad is starting to show through.

The good news this morning is that Coloccini has a chance to play alongside James Perch in central defense at Norwich, but now with Guthrie and Tiote out, we wonder who will come in as the defensive midfielder.

Alan talked about the defense today to the local press, but as we expected he doesn’t want to say too much about his plans:

“I don’t want to give too much away.” “We had no centre halves by the end against Chelsea and 10 men on the pitch.”

“Tamas is an option and up to speed he is looking to kick-start his Newcastle career” “Davide and Danny are options.”

This is not good news about either Danny Guthrie or Cheick Tiote,  but maybe Haris Vuckic could get his chance with Cabaye  moving to defensive midfield?

Of course we also have Dan Gosling who get his long awaited chance to shine on Saturday, and Ben Arfa can also play in the attacking central midfield position too.

What do you think?

Injuries do happen but I started to lose my faith and doubt on the ability of the medical team. They seem to take 10 times extra longer to heal players as compared to other teams.

Anyone remember when Andy Carroll got injured around this time last year, and look where he ended up……..as much I hate to say it, I have a sickening feeling that Tiote is off in January…..Hope not but I will never trust our board.

Abeid is playing for his country in the Olympic qualifying tournament. They’re still not telling you the truth about the Tiote injury, and I ‘m not about to, just to receive the usual abuse from the ignorant ones. I’ve been saying for months that the fitness and conditioning staff are crap. But, in typical Ashley style, if you pay peanuts ——-! There is also talk in corporate circles that the fat one is seriously considering changing the team name for the 2012/2013 season to Sports Direct Newcastle, and the colours to red/white stripes and blue shorts, the SD colours. Remember, you heard it here first, about the colours I mean, the talk about the name change is in the current edition of the Mag.

I’m pretty relieved about the news that Coloccini is 50/50…IMO he is guaranteed to start on Saturday alongside Perch. It’s obviously not a bad injury and he doesn’t often miss many matches!

Guthrie is a blow but if i were to choose a player to be injured it would be him. He has been playing really well but lots of fans would like to see Gosling, Vuckic and Abeid get more of a chance anyway.

Krul, Simpson, Perch, Coloccini, Raylor, Obertan, Cabaye, Gosling, Gutierrez, Ben Arfa, Ba.

That team should be strong enough to take points in the next 4 games. Hopefully Tiote is back for Swansea then all is well. We also have good attacking options on the bench such as Sammy, Shola, Best etc.

Toon – jock – there is nothing to stop him doing it, as the Premier League and the FA verify in the current edition of the Mag. He can call us and play us in whatever colours he likes.

Yeah Colo-sus – agreed, they wouldn’t have a club left!
Don’t agree on the carroll front tho, it took him 3 months to make his liverpool debut, think he was genuinely injured, the scousers wouldn’t have spent 35m on a striker to wait 3 months to get him on the pitch if he wasn’t! Think Tiote is actually injured, i know his recovery time isnt great and he was one of the last to get upto speed after preseason!

agree with a few on here – tiote – were not getting the full story – hes either off and being sold in 3 weeks or something else.

re colo – again the stuttering over a contract means hes out in jan or summer – so play him regardless of 100% fitness.

we also have enough in midfield to cover guthrie, gosling is a easy replacement – smith on the bench in case crabaye get crocked again. best has to start up front – he might not be to everyones favour – but his stats say it all – and they dont lie.

regardless of all this negativity – next 4 games are winable even with a fringe team playing. HWTL

I have to agree with previous fans on here that Tiote is going in th january window, and the fact hat Alan Pardew has already said, that we could possibly lose some players in january, then the writing is on the wall, and my gut feeling is Tiote, will not be the only player to go in january, i have said all along, and ill stick by my comments, that we will never be a top club again as long as Mike Ashley is our owner, iam not going to be rude or say nasty things about Mike Ashley, but he is strickley just a business man, who has no real love or ambition for Newcastle, its just a business venture, for Mr Ashley, but some day in the future he will sell up, and probably make a huge profit, i hope and pray that day comes sooner rather than later. Howay the lads.

    I agree with JIMMY MAGPIE!
NO 1: OUR PHYSIOS and medics ARE S**T. It takes aeons for players to recover.

NO 2: too bad for guthrie. But that’s what u get wen u rely on too few players. The stress kills them!

    NO 3:
    My team for norwich
    KRUL

    Simo,Kadar,Perch,SANTON

    Ober,CABAYE,RAYLOR, GUTI

    BENARFA BA

2ND HALF, Ameobi enters for Ben Arfa, gosling comes in and for raylor or santon (then raylor moves to left back) to play in defensive midfield.
Shola Amoebi needs more playing time. He has a HUGE POSITIVE IMPACT on the team.
Sammy cld replace obertan. But shola needs at least 30 mins on the pitch.

Ameobi boys on at the hour for Obertan and Vuckic, Cabaye drops and it’s 4-4-2 with Gosling and Cabaye the defensive mids and Jonas and Sammy on either wing seeing they both play left and right. Shola is a massive leader and he needs to play but will run out of gas if he starts so he comes on and take the armband from Jonas. Thoughts?

I am still more worried about our back four more than our midfield. Vukic and Gosling are young guns that give us at least some depth.

    Krul
    Simpson—Perch—Kadar/Colo—Raylor
    Obertan—Gosling/Vukic—Cabye—Jonas
    HBA
    Ba

Other than the middle of the back four, I could roll with that, but it’d be great to have a guy like Tiote/Guthrie in midfield sagging back to the back four for help in the middle. Not sure who on the roster would fit that bill best. But, let’s let the young guns like Gosling and Vukic play and see what happens.
