Coloccini Out – Simpson In Middle And Santon Starts

Fabricio Coloccini is not ft  to take his place in the Newcastle side at Norwich this afternoon.

And it’s a big surprise to us that Danny Simpson and James Perch will be the central defensive partnership this afternoon at Carrow Road.

Where the height or heading ability there?

And it’s all change in the back four as Ryan Taylor moves across to right back and Italian international Santon comes in at left back.

This is a huge opportunity for Davide Santon,  and his first league start ever for the Magpies.

We just have to hope that Alan Pardew has drilled this back four and goalkeeper Tim Krul often this week in training.

As expected, Dan Gosling makes his first Premier League start ever for Newcastle, in place of the injured Danny Guthrie and Jonas Gutierrez returns to the left wing in place of Peter Lovenkrands, who drops to the bench.

And another surprise is that Jonas captains side.

As we had expected, Shola Ameobi comes in for Hatem Ben Arfa, and will play alongside Demba Ba up front to give the attack more power.

Shane Ferguson and Alan Smith make the bench, but it’s interesting that Tamas Kadar isn’t even on the bench.

And it’s hardly surprising that Norwich start Grant Holt up front, and he’s an excellent header of the ball.

We will do well if the lads can take something out of this game.

Howay The Lads!!

Norwich City (4-4-2): Ruddy; Naughton, Martin, Whitbread, Tierney; Fox, Surman, Hoolahan, Crofts; Morison, Holt.
Substitutes: Rudd, Johnson, Jackson, Pilkington, Bennett, Barnett, Wilbraham.

Newcastle United (4-4-2):  Krul; Taylor (R),  Perch, Simpson,  Santon; Obertan,  Gosling, Cabaye, Gutierrez (c); Ameobi,  Ba
Substitutes: Elliot,  Ferguson,  Smith, Ameobi,  Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands,  Best

I was optimistic before i saw this lineup. Only good thing is that Santon starts atlast, but at the cost of a natural CB. A draw will be a good result, the CB partnership is quick, but with holt we’ll be demolished.

Mythed about Kadar. Should have given Streete a spot on the bench in stead of Smith.

    an okay starting line up.
we should be fine against Norwich today!
1 point is fine, 3 would be superb.
    Links for the game anyone?

ameobi wasvery sharp last weak, and will def be better option in defense from set pieces than HBA. Good call by perdew. Glad to se Jonas as a Captain. P.s I am very pleased to see Raylor at RB spot- his natural position,i hope he will have a good game and santon as well,to clinch RB and LB spots respectevely.

Not at all suprised to see HBA not play, I didn’t think he did enough against Chelsea. I’d imagine he’ll get a run in the side when Tiote and Cabaye are back together in the side together, to pick up the peices until he finds his form.

Nice to see Jonas made captain, I think he deserves it for his graft this season. We missed him badly against Chelsea. If he and Santon can link up early it’ll do the young lads confidence the world of good. I suspect attack might be the best form of defence today.

This is a very dissapointing line-up. Shola Ameobi will be useless. Every time he has come on from the bench he has been great but when he starts he is a different player. This will then effect D

This will effect Demba Ba. The midfield is good but i dont think we should start Gosling. He is far too attack minded which will mean our defence will be attacked more. Our defence isn’t the best it could be, Raylor shouldn’t start, Danny Simpson should be right back and Kadar should be center back. He has good hight and is fast. He has a bit of Colocini and Staylor about him.

Been a big supporter of Raylor but I think today is the day we find out who should be our full backs and on what side they should play on.

Hoping Santon takes his chance, hoping Raylor proves his doubters wrong at right back, hoping Shola puts in the performance we know he can and that HBA gets on and dazzles like he did against Everton……………
