It looks likely that Dan Gosling will get his big chance this afternoon at Carrow Road.
Dan Gosling – big chance this afternoon for the Plymouth-born player
With both Cheick Tiote and Danny Guthrie sidelined with injuries, Dan is favored to come into the central midfield position and partner Yohan Cabaye this afternoon against Norwich City.
The other two possibilities are the 19 year-old top youngsters Frenchman Mehdi Abeid and Slovenian Haris Vuckic, who are both players who could make it big time on Tyneside. We hope they make it big time on Tyneside.
This is a game where Newcastle will be without some key players, including Steven Taylor for the first time in the league this season, and we’ll all get a chance to see how strong the squad is.
This is what Dan told the local press today:
“I’m not looking in the past – I’ve dealt with that situation,” “I’ve moved out of the tunnel, and hopefully I can play a lot more football for Newcastle.”
“It’s a long season. There will be ups and downs with players. People get injured and suspended, and we’ve got a squad that the gaffer will utilise.”
“He’s shown already that new players will be used. We need to keep that going and get everyone back. We are just trying to keep a run going and see where we are at the end of the season.”
“We’ll just keep trying to push on, and see where it takes us,” “We’re not aiming for any crazy place in the league. We’ve had a great start, and hopefully we’ll carry that on.”
“There are tough fixtures coming up, but every game in the Premier League’s tough. I think there are teams near the bottom that shouldn’t be there really, so the league table doesn’t always say how it is.”
“I’m sure we’ll be tested, but all the lads are buzzing, as are the staff. It’s a great place to be, and everybody gets on well. The training’s good and sharp, and we’re all looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
Even though the England U21 International joined Newcastle on a free transfer in the summer of last year from Everton, he’s been out with his ACL knee injury until essentially this season.
And this will be only his 7th appearance in a Newcastle shirt, but we really hope Dan puts in a good shift this afternoon, in what is an important game for him, and for Newcastle too.
Howay The Lads!!
