Good News – Ba and Santon Excellent – Three Players Back Next Week

The result at Carrow Road was not good today,  but Newcastle played some decent football and didn’t have any luck at all.

Demba Ba – two goals and excellent game today

Newcastle had some of their best players missing in Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Danny Guthrie  and Cheick Tiote, but two players Newcastle brought in last summer looked very good indeed today – Demba Ba and  Davide Santon.

There will be a lot of grumbling going on because Newcastle have a single point from their last four games, but we know the Newcastle squad is too thin and we are paying for that in terms of points at the moment.

And our goal difference over the last four games has gone from +9 to +2.

However there were some positive things in the game today, even though we were beaten for the second game running.

Davide Santon, like most Italians, looked very comfortable on the ball today, and if his league debut is anything to go by, this lad could become a great player for Newcastle in the seasons ahead.

In central defense Perch and Simpson did their best, and it was obvious they had been well drilled last week in training, but Norwich got the goals when it counted today, and why did we play with no height in the middle at the back?

When we saw the team we said we thought Grant Holy would have a good game today, and he did by scoring two goals.

But there is every chance that Coloccini, Mike Williamson and Cheick Tiote will be available gain next week,  so we should see at least the captain back in the defense.

But on today’s performance we think the back four could be

Taylor (R) Simpson Coloccini and Santon.

We need some new players in January to strengthen the sqaud – that is now really very obvious, and while the score-line was bad today, but the actal performance was a lot better.

We conceded three goals last week for the first time in the league against Chelsea, and conceded four today for the first time today.

And we’ll not even mention that Dan Gosling made things worse by getting himself sent off in the second half, so he will now miss the next three matches.

It was a great game for the neutral to watch with both teams playing an attacking 4-4-2 system.

Keep the faith!

Not Holding my breath seeing Tiote back. But I’ll be dancing in the streets if your prediction is proven correct. A player like Tiote covers up a multitude of defensive sins. Santon is clearly a class player through and through We need a top centre back in January thats for sure Perch and Simpson just arent good enough

We are not going to take him off the 1st team. Just try an off the bench defensive sub shift/sub, and see what happens.

Concede 4 Against Blackburn at the cup

    Concede 3 against Chelsea

    Concede 4 against Norwich

ALL when PERCH start at Centre Back – this guy is a disaster!

Would have been better to start Shola at C.B at least he has the height and can head a ball, and that would have let Best have a game up top. Hind sight is a great gift for the ignorant.

I agree Brutooon, Perch is only a Championship fullback at best never a Premiership centreback. I’d rather play Besty or Shola at centreback than him. I hope we are not going to have to make do with this Nigerian loan fella from Seria A in January. We need a quality proven defender & need Colo signed up quick on a new contract. Certainly need more depth i.e quality striker.perhaps Carroll back for £8M, Pieters in at left back & Samba at centre back. Has he held back Tiote so he didn’t play & impress against Man City, Utd & Chelsea – bit like Carroll this time last season? In meantime give Ferguson a run at left back put Santon at centre back & give Raylor a go in midfield.
