There is a report out today that BSC Young Boys striker Emmanuel Mayuka is being closely followed by Newcastle United.
Emmanuel Mayuka – Zambian striker interesting Newcastle?
The agent of the 21 year-old striker, Nir Karin, has said that in an interview with L’Equipe, but he could be trying to generate some interest in his client.
It would not be the first time that an agent had made something up about something he was hopping for, rather than what was actually happening in reality.
Apparently there is also interest in his client from Fulham and some other clubs such as current French Champions Lille and Ukraine club Dynamo Kiev.
This is what his agent Nir Karin told L’Equipe:
“In France, there are three clubs interested in him, though I can’t say anything specific about Lille,”
“I can tell you that Dynamo Kiev, Fulham and Newcastle are the three teams most serious on him this January.”
And then his agent then said the standard thing, so he doesn’t upset his current club, by then stating the following:
“Makuya is very happy at Young Boys, and likes the city of Bern and its people,”
That’s just classic agent speak.
This seems to us a case of an agent trying to earn some money by drawing attention to his client, and probably making up the interest from some of the clubs stated.
There again if it’s true it could be that Chief Scout Graham Carr has spotted him, and is regularly checking on the youngster.
The striker joined Bern last year from Maccabi Tel Aviv and he has played 42 times for the Swiss club with 17 goals, and while in Israel he played 42 times with 17 goals, a similar goal-scoring record.
Mayuka stands 5’9″ tall and was born in Zambia back in 1990, and he made his debut for his country when he was just 16 years old back in 2007 in the COSAFA Cup, and so far has 22 caps with 5 goals.
We haven’t seen this lad play so it’s hard to know how good he is.

Comment #44from a man ‘in the know’ – as many of you know players are often told that they will be starting the evening before well, it seems even pards isnt sure who starting – maybe holding out for a collo turnaround but as yet – kadar hasnt been told hes starting – unless he is simply opting for simpson at CB which would be tragic and giving santon the right back spot? but as yet kadar is not looking like making a start!
