Newcastle Go After Top 20 Year-Old French Winger

News today that Newcastle are interested in 20 year-old French winger Guigamp’s Anthony Knockaert.

Anthony Knockaert – Newcastle tracking this winger

That’s news today in talkSPORT, and the lad currently plays for Guingamp In the French second division, and he only turned 20 on November 24th.

The Frenchman has so far played 9 times for the French U20 side and has scored 4 goals, and he has been scouted by Graham Carr, Newcastle’s Chief Scout, who is after more bargains in the French leagues.

The news is that Newcastle scouts have been keeping a close eye on the Roubaix-born winger’s progress this season.

Guingamp are doing well this season and are 3rd top of the French second division, with 28 points from their 16 games, just 5 points behind leaders Clermont.

It’s interesting that Monaco are rock bottom on 11 points,  after being relegated from the French top division  only last season.

There are many clubs said to be  tracking the youngster but with Newcastle United’s name being like gold in France don’t put it past Newcastle to be the one who brings the lad to Tyneside.

Anthony, who is 5’9″ tall, has played 18 times this season for Guingamp and has two goals and two assists, and the right-footed player usually plays on the right wing.

According to transfer-market, a football site in the UK, he is said to be worth around £175K.

Anthony signed for Guingamp from Lesquin in 2009, and has appeared 39 times for the French club with 4 goals and 5 assists.

His contract runs out in the summer of 2013, and Alan Pardew is said to be hoping to bring in the impressive 20-year-old for a reasonable fee, as Newcastle go all out to strengthen their squad.

We are gonna be linked with everyone who owns a pair of boots in the coming weeks, whether we actually sign anyone is a different matter all together?

Transfermarkt is based in Germany, not the UK. Transfermarkt.co.uk is just the English-translated version of transfermarkt.de

Not to many people bothered about Simpson leaving I wonder if its possible to get a better cheaper replacement,I think it would be so much better to bring in a top left back and let Simpson and Santon fight it out for the right back spot, that way you’ve also got cover for LB,Tbh though even after reading a thousand posts on here I still dont know what position Santon is actually best in.

Jail > Santon is a LB, he was brough in to replace Jose. The only reason he has been kept out is due to Raylor starying the season well.

He can also play RB, or even on either flank, but he is a LB.

i think most people reckon we’ll switch Santon to RB and get in a new LB. On his best position,he famously made his Inter breakthrough at LB(V Ronaldo) but he’s right footed. He didnt play RB too often for inter because of Maicon,Zanetti yet they had a shortage of LB’s. He’d flourish at RB,can get the job done at LB.

Toon tom – Santon is a natural right winger but got put right back and hes also capable of playing left back he does use his left foot

Santon would be better at right back and have Pieters at left back we’d be sorted plus we’d hav plenty of cover cos Pieters can also play CB

defo think theres somthing in taiwo rumours he went milan on a free n it aint worked out for him there by the looks of it, so a loan with option to buy seems like a good deal n milan will make say 5/6mill profit if we buy him in the summer

Maiga having medical in London this afternoon. Dr. Catterson in London to oversee the medical. This is because everyhing to be completed to register him on 2nd. Jan, before he goes to African Nations. Williamson just come through 45mins in the Reserve game versus Bolton (1-1). Didn’t look ready for 1st team action to me. Vuckic also looked distinctly average. Unlike some of you, that lad has never over impressed me.

Talk of Maiga and Simmo not signing his contract is deflecting the situation about the defence, there has to be at least two quality defenders brought in,even if it COSTS money.

Regards the story, not seen a thing of this Knockeart before. Last time I paid any attention to Guingamps they were in the top flight several years ago. Anybody actually watched the lad play?

Disagree on Vukic, he has at times shown footballing ability and technique, but isnt the issue that some of these promising young lads (Kadar is another), spend far too long at our club on the fringes with no real prospect of 1st team football and they end up stagnating and probably demotivated – especially the foreign lads.
Seems to me we have done this for years with young players, how much potential talent have we lost. What price Abeid next
