Alan Pardew has said today that Newcastle should have one or two players back for Saturday when Swansea visit St. James’ Park.
Alan Smith – could come in on Saturday is Tiote not fit
The two most likely to return are captain and center-back Fabricio Coloccini and defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote, who is less certain to return.
With Dan Gosling managing to get himself sent off and be banned for the next three games and with Danny Guthrie also out, it would be a great time for Cheick o return to the first team – if he is fit enough.
We saw yesterday that Mehdi Ameid may be as candidate for a central midfield position, but Alan Smith could also be drafted in to play in that position, and of course he has vast experience.
This is what Alan told the local press today:
“We are hopeful we have one or two back.” “Willo trained and played in the reserves.” “He offers us height and experience.”
“He was great for us last season.” “If we can get over the 30 point mark before Christmas Day that would be great.”
It will be a bit of a surprise if Williamson makes the starting eleven – but he proved in his debut against Crystal Palace almost two years ago, that he can play a masterful game, even when he hasn’t had much match practice.
We would hope that all three – Coloccini, Tiote and Williamson – will all make it for Saturday’s game against Swansea, and a win on Saturday is very important for the Newcastle side.
