Davide Santon Will Come Good At Newcastle

Davide Santon had his first Premier League start of his Newcastle career and we thought he did well.

Davide Santon – played quite well at Norwich

And  in our poll for Man of the Match for the Norwich game, Davide was second top with 11% of the vote behind winner Demba Ba, who got a massive 71% of the vote.

This is what Alan had to say about the 20 year Italian, who stands at 6’1″ and could have been used at center-back last Saturday:

Those feelings extend to Santon.” “I thought he did very well at Norwich. I saw one report saying he did not and I was surprised by that,”

“You could see when he had the ball that he’s gifted and he needs to get used to some of the hurly burly of the division which he found out at Blackburn in the Carling Cup.”

“But looking at him at Norwich, I think he has realised that.”

We think the plan for Davide is to slowly introduce him to the Premier League,  and it does take some time for new players to get used to the physical play in the Premier League.

That’s especially for youngsters coming to Newcastle, and what is a completely different life-style and new language to get used to.

Davide has a lots of experience after playing in Italy and he made 53 appearances for AC Milan, 11 appearances for Cesena while out on loan, and the 20 year-old has played 7 times for the full Italian side, and so far 3 appearances for Newcastle.

Davide also captains the Italian U21 side,  and he has made 15 appearances for them and 33 appearances in total for the various Italian Youth sides.

We still think Davide will do well at Newcastle, and as Alan says you could see this lad can play a bit.

We are even hoping that Davide will get another start today but we think if either Coloccini or Williamson start the game Alan Pardew will stick with Ryan Taylor and Danny Simpson as the two full-backs.

What do you think?

Play Simpson and Tavernier in fullback roles they’d make us more dynamic. Anyone but Simpson and Perch in the middle, they couldn’t play the role for toffee!

he’ll come good if he ever gets a game and that’s on merit, not just because of injuries

I think over the past few months everybody has forgotten how old he is. Just because he had so much hype and been around a while. He’s only 21 in january. He already looks comfortable in the first team, give it 2 seasons he’ll be superb.
