Newcastle’s Best Team Can Compete With Any Premier League Team

Alan Pardew has rightly said that Newcastle’s best team can give any team in the English Premier League a game.

Newcastle are interested in 23 year-old Brazilian defender Douglas

And we have to agree with that,  and in fact in the three games against the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea recently we  showed that.

And if the lads had some luck in the Man City and Chelsea games, they could have even won those games.

So that’s not a problem and even though Steven Taylor is now out for the season, we think a fit Mike Williamson can do the job,  and if he was in the team last Saturday’s that’s the strongest side we can field at the moment.

Of course we are threadbare in the center-half position, so it was good to see  Newcastle are interested in FC Twente’s 23 year-old  Douglas Franco Teixeira of FC Twente – known as Douglas.

We haven’t seen this lad play,  but with his contract running out next June, he could be an absolute bargain, although other clubs both in England and on the continent are also in for him.

And having just got his Dutch citizenship, he will very likely be included in the Holland squad shortly, and maybe be a  part of their Euro 2012 squad.

So how much would it take to get this 6’4″ old fashioned center-back to Newcastle next month?  £2M maybe – if that.

The Newcastle bench strength is not good enough,  and we all know that, but we are hopping the Newcastle Board will bring in at least a center-back and a striker next month.

The deal to sign Modibo Maiga fell through last week because of a concern about the Mali striker’s knee, but the lad seems to have taken what must have been a huge personal disappointment very well, and we wish him well in the future.

Alan Pardew is a down to earth guy, and he talked about the strength of the Newcastle team today:

“Our best team can compete with any team in this Premier League.” “Whether we have got a strong enough squad to keep us consistently in the top seven all year, we will have to wait and see.”

“But certainly, we still have a nice margin over the rest.” “Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea are way, way above us in terms of budgets and everything else.”

“So we are doing absolutely fabulously, make no mistake about that.” “It’s dangerous to look behind, so we will look up and go from there.”

We agree with Alan completely on those comments, and Newcastle continuing to do well depends as much on keeping some of our very top players,  in addition to bringing in new players to significantly strengthen the squad.

One player we’d like to keep is Cheick Tiote, but we think it could be touch and go if indeed Chelsea, Manchester  United and Liverpool come in for him during January.

We’ll have to wait and see on that one.

    To quote Pardew:

”Whether we have got a strong enough squad to keep us consistently in the top seven all year, we will have to wait and see.”

No Mr. Pardew we won’t wait and see! Our squad is not strong enough and has not been for years. Yes our first team is a match for any but year after year we have struggled due to a lack of ability when injuries occur. We need to invest in janurary or talk at the end of the season will be about our strong start and poor finish. You cannot get into the top 10 without a little investment and if we ‘wait and see’ we will be sorry!

MA as a business man you must know a simple rule of business, infact all the cheap brands you have bought out and made money from follows this business model- SPECULATE TO ACCUMULATE. rant over

Nightfall I think Pardew was talking more in term of finances and attractiveness to ‘star’ players.

The likes of Man U, City, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal are in a league of their own regarding financing and they will all finish above us, but we are the strongest of the rest, if we can keep what we have and add two or three in January we should nail down 7th which would be a brilliant season for us

Please Lets go and get Douglas!

Brick Shithouse with Talent! Nowt and i mean Nowt gets past him! Would love to see him playing alongside Tiote! We would have the best defence in the League!
Just imagine the back four plus keeper:

    KRUL
    SAYLOR DOUGLAS COLLO SANTON

Looks pretty damn good to me!!!!!!
You gotta dream about something like that!

My question is why we would Newcastle sell Tiote now?
Thave him at a wage they can handle for 5 and a half more years. He’ll be 26 in June, if we can get 20 million for him now if he keeps his current form we could still get 20 million two-three years down the road when we should have a better idea about our squad with all of the current signings and the ones to come.

This Douglas is a nutcase! Imagine having him and Samba at the back lol. But you could give me a million Sambas I still wouldn’t swap them for my dear Coloccini.

It’s a shame to see us trying to consolidate 7th. I know rebuilding times unless a multi-billionaire takes over the club but I would put us in the same mini league as Villa, Stoke, Fulham, WBA and Everton. I might be biased but we are the biggest team, have the better stadium, we are a 1 club city and sell more replica shirts per capita than anyone else in Britian. We have seen our club go through so much c*%p in a short period of time and it would be nice if something magical could happen (maybe that’s just saved for disney movies). I for one am going to write to every billionaire from gates to Branson, zuckerberg to sergey brin and ask them to make a little investment opportunity too good to turn down. Merry Christmas

Would rather Samba over Douglas but I know which is more likely and thats the younger cheaper model. However I doubt we will get him either tbh

Will be some unknown or someone on loan….or no one if Willo gets up to speed quickly

Douglas is realistic only cause he’d be relatively cheap and seems to fit into our transfer policy. Samba would cost three times as much and would no doubt demand higher wages than Douglas

Are you for real niafron? Enrique and santon the same lool enrique is one of the best LBs in the world imo opinion Santon has had one good game for us. Johnson only slightly better than simpson he is 10x better along with kelly aswell. Adam is probably on a similar level to cabaye as they are both class players. I would prefer tiote any day of the wek over lucas but he is probably one of the most improved players in their team and has been outstanding before getting injured. Ba and suarz i would say suarez is better imo but it would be a close call on current form. They main reason you can say liverpool are much better is because they have over 70 million sitting on their bench every week.

Sorry mate but calling Benny ‘World Class’ is stretching it a bit, he was good on times yes, but seem to remember him being pulled off at Wolves as he was ineffective, I have no doubt in time he will regain his form, touch and sharpness but I said as they stand now I’d have Bellamy ahead of him

Aye I think thats what I read in the Sunday Sun (I work in a shop I did NOT buy it I want u to understand that haha) thats why we are looking at him because he is a bosman in the summer so we think a 5-7mill bid could get Blackburn to sell as he is stalling on a contract

Haha oh u will only be upset come January mate 😉

Listen lads, we’re being linked with players like Giroud, Maiga, Douglas, Samba, Gameiro, Gervinho, etc etc.
These are quite commonly known as great players, and all of them would likely be able to play in some of the best teams in the world, atleast the top 4 in the UK.

This is fantastic stuff tbh, just to be linked with these players, and actually beat others to some of them. Not long ago we settled for signings like (no disrespect) Guthrie, Xisco, Loven, Perch, Raylor, Simmo, Willo, Routledge, etc.
Now most of those do a decent jobs for us, and even more so for some, but lets be honest, all of them would struggle to get a game for the top 4, maybe 5.

To be linked with these players mentioned currently excites me, it shows we’ve been ushered into a new era, and our sights are set higher. No more Carlton Coles, Alan Smiths type signings, we’re better then that now.

Building a side takes time, but we’re targeting all the right players.
Maybe or maybe not we stand a chance with these, but out of all the players we’re linked with now and throughout January, we know we’re likely to get 2 of em.
