Davide Santon is loving life at Newcastle, and that’s always great to hear.
Davide Santon – impressive in last two Newcastle games
Davide has broken into the first team, at last, and he has played well in the last two games, and he will learn form that experience, and will only get better the more PL games he gets under his belt.
We think Alan Pardew has handled the 20 year-old very well since he arrived, and he has allowed the player to get up to to speed with the more physical nature of the English game, compared to what he was used to in his home county of Italy.
And Davide has come out and said that today, and he has also compared the Newcastle manager to the great Jose Mourinho, currently at Real Madrid, because they both want to win every single game.
Alan Pardew has been delighted at the form of the 20 year-old Italian International recently, and if Davide keeps up his good form and nails down a starting place in the Newcastle side, expect him to get straight back into the Italian squad.
And maybe he can be a starter for the Italian side in next summer’s Euro 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine.
This is what Davide told the local press today:
“Alan Pardew and Jose Mourinho are totally different.” “But in their own ways they are very good managers.”
“And like Mourinho, the manager at Newcastle has always got that will to win every game and take the club forward.”
“I like working with the manager at Newcastle.” “He has placed trust in me and I hope I can return that trust by playing well in the next few games.”
“I have a great relationship with my team-mates.” “I am enjoying it here.” “I now realise that the game in England is more physical compared to Serie A, and I have adapted to that.”
“I feel it’s going well for me.” “I’m happy because at the end of the day the defence didn’t let any goals in, but I realize that against West Bromwich Albion, it must be a better game for us.”
Santon will start again tomorrow night against WBA, where a win in that game is even more important now.
That was after the lads played very well on Saturday afternoon against Swansea, but just couldn’t get that one goal that would have given Newcastle their first win in five games.
It made a huge difference to have both Coloccini and Tiote back in the side, and they were one reason why Newcastle gained their 5th clean sheet this season, in the league.
Davide Santon said he was disappointed that Newcastle couldn’t get the win against Swansea:
“It was difficult for us afterwards. We know we tried and tried and tried to get the one goal but we didn’t get anywhere.” “Because of that, morale does go down during a game.”
“But it means that we must try even harder against West Brom and try even more ways to create some goals.”
“I’m really happy at the moment. The fans are fantastic to me personally.” “I feel that things are going well.”
Davide Santon is just one of the great acquisitions Newcastle made in the summer, which also saw French International Yohan Cabaye and Senegal International Dem Ba arrive at the club.
Those three top players cost Newcastle about £9M in total, all great deals, and we wonder how much they would worth next summer?
A lot more than £9K, that’s for sure.
We are big fans of Davide Santon, and this lad can become a super-star at Newcastle, and that’s exactly what we hope he becomes, but we’ll give him a year or two on that one. 😀
He’s yet another player who is just delighted to be at Newcastle United, and that makes a huge difference.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Seems a cmplete like for like replacement for Enrique to me.
Enrique is world class, but he got 0 goals and 1 assist (an own goal in the last game!) last season as far as I remember. Hopefully Santon can provide a little more threat.
Although the chances of him being as good in defence are slim! Still looks great though, even better once he gets used to the physicality of the PL.

Comment #2Sky Sports News >> Chelsea in for Rodwell.
Thought they were definitely signing Tiote, and we were not playing him because we were keeping him fit…

Comment #5posted from last thread:
off-topic but what’s going on with the naming rights? didn’t LambArse say that we had to have one agreed by december so that puma could get the shirt for next season ready?
Is it just me or does anyone else think we will have sports direct on our shirts next season? It would look so tacky…..

You’re not the only one fearing that haha. You know I wouldn’t even care if Ashley actually paid for it, but I really don’t think he will.

Comment #10Pardew is doing a great job in my eyes, he is building a successful team for the future. Alot of fans want to see Santon, Benarfa, obertan etc etc all thrown in at the deep end and set the matches on fire with dazzling skill and quality. We have rushed players in the past for example Collocini, it took him at least a full season before he looked anywhere near a top quality centre back. the french league is no where near as physical at the the Premiership and obertan didnt get much time at Manure so he is really like a fresh transfer from france. Cabaye has made the step look easy but that is because he oozes quality and could fit into any team or league in the world. The italian league is much slower than the prem and so Pardew has done the right thing in being patient with Santon. We could have easily rushed him and left him suffering with zero confidence and the fans against him. Pardew has obviously seen a definate adjustment in santons play in training to give him his chance. I think Ashley will support Pardew in the january and summer window by not allowing key players to go (unless liverpool wanna pay over the odds again). He is very clever, let the lover, smith go and again bring in some diamonds from the carr scoutinmg school of excellence. We still have marv to come back and with quality signings how great will we be next year with all our new players having a full premiership under there belt. Pardew here for long term future.

Comment #12“Yeah when he becomes a star, sell him.”
Which scenario is everyone basing this off? The only two I can remember are Carroll and Milner.
£35m for Carroll – case closed!
£9m for Milner – he never looked particularly good for us!
There was nothing we could have done about Enrique, he wanted to leave!
So… only two then and I would have sold them both as well.
