Newcastle Injury Update For West Brom Game

There are doubts on several players for the important game against WBA tomorrow night at St. James’ Park.

Haris Vuckic – could start tomorrow night

Yohan Cabaye  picked up his fifth yellow card of the season on Saturday and will miss his first league game of the season, and we expect one of the two 19 year-old youngsters  – Haris Vuckic or Mehdi Abeid – to come in .

Both players are outstanding talents, and it’s good that one of them will get a chance,  and they may both feature in the game tomorrow night at St. James’ Park.

Former Everton midfielder Dan Gosling is also out tomorrow night, and he will serve the second game of his three match suspension,  after being sent off at Norwich for a rather stupid two footed tackle, after 65 minutes of that game.

And full-back Ryan Taylor still has an ankle injury, which is what kept him out of the squad for Saturday’s home game against Swansea.

But Davide Santon had a very good game against the newly promoted Welsh side, and will continue at left-back tomorrow night, and if Ryan is fit he’ll probably be on the bench, and of course he can play in many different positions.

Danny Guthrie is out with a groin strain,  and not due back for at least a couple of weeks,  and news that striker Peter Lovenkrands could be out for up to three weeks with a calf injury.

Peter picked that up in training, and also long term injury casualty,  Steven Taylor,  is not available while he recovers  from an operation on his Achilles.

We think Ben Arfa could be brought in as a second striker,  so this is the team that could be starting tomorrow night in a 4-4-1-1 formation:

Krul
Simpson Coloccini (c) Perch Santon
Obertan Tiote Vuckic Gutierrez
Ben Arfa
Demba Ba

There’s a possibility that Sammy Ameobi could start on the right wing in place of Gabriel Obertan, and of course Abeid could be preferred to Vuckic  in central midfield.

Shola Ameobi could also get the start with Demba Ba up front in a 4-4-2 formation and Mike Williamson could be brought in for James Perch, but we think it’s too early for that.

What’s your team for tomorrow night?

Comments welcome.

…and he shouldn’t play 4-5-1 since that is just a rariation of 4-4-2. You need 4 or 5 midfielder for those formations.

Jonas and Obertan are wide men and HBA is def. striker or att. midfielder.

If you want to accommodate that you have to use a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 formation. And since AP bought continental players maybe he should try to play more continental than the all British 4-4-2 formation, that non of the top 6 teams would touch with a barge pole.

i agree 442 does not suit us, i think Cabaye would be even better in a 3man midfield like arsenal, Man city etc…if he was the spare man he would control games more and be such a threat.

    Johny,
i think that will be the team tomorrow with maybe HBA instead of Best. Btw the number of headers Best wins against CB’s is unreal,he hardly ever loses an aerial duel,i remember him even beating Samba (SJP 3-1)

As with nimo’s earlier comment; I’m all for MA’s financial restructuring, im all for self sufficiency and sustainability so long as it’s done in a structured, phased manner which doesn’t include the mass marketing of every good player we have for sale to the highest bidder….I’m a football fan and pay a lot of hard earned money to watch decent players play decent football….I don’t pay to read a balance sheet. What I care about are keeping the likes of Tiote, Colo etc and bringing in a good CF and CB out of the 35m Carroll
transfer fee….If you take published records of fees attributable to so-called ‘free transfers’ then we’ll have spent around 6-7m in the summer on our ‘freebies’ out of the 35m received and this is not even allowing for net profit on other deals, the money is there without a doubt, it’s a question of MA and his ambition (or lack thereof). Prove everyone wrong Ashley and spend the Carroll profits on Gary Cahill and Luuk DeJong…..you’d still even be left with a few mil in the old sky rocket

    I think we”ll sign a centre half & a striker.

But I think Tiote will be sold to Chelsea or Man utd. 🙁

    What actually happened was….

He had about 90 followers on twatter & he guessed a couple of things right about transfers with a couple of days to go.

Then he gained about 200 followers & turned Into a bit of a celebirty.Haha

So then he started saying he was Itk & we were defo signing a striker.

So when we didn’t sign a striker people were looking to kill him.Comedy gold it was…. lol

I love all the people moaning that we are not signing Maiga! The same people that moaned he was not good enough… Hard to follow here lads.

I think we need a Cb and a striker but in reality i fear it may be a case of trying to hang on rather than signing.

I think the big man has only authorised one signing in Jan, with the trouble we have at centre half it looks to me like they have knocked Maiga on the head claiming his knee was knackered and turned their attentions to a cb.

    satan,

You really, really do need to look at the club’s audited accounts. Only then will you find the answers. We are still massively in debt (albeit to Ashley). No one particularly wants to read a balance sheet, but at least we still have a team to support.

I do admit I support Ashley in certain things but in others I can not. Firstly it would be great to have a really good manager here on merit. Secondly it’s frustrating when deals like Darnel Situ the French CH who as was available for only 250K and didn’t complete the deal to us, are missed opportunities.

I just don’t lnow what to think about NUFC any more. On the one hand we have7/8 really really good players and could really kick on, but there’s this feeling of frustration and everything being up in the air.

For me a CB and striker are the priorities in Jan, anything else is a bonus as we may not even bring in two players. A LB would be nice but being realistic I’d be happy with the two. And, of course, no more departures, particularly of the likes of Tiote. The board justified the stadium rebranding because it was preferable to selling our best players to generate income. If we go and do both I’ll be irked, to put it mildly.

Sorry to re-post but old threads tend to be abandonned very quickly!

The fact the Maiga has gone on strike twice to engineer a move should have alarm bells ringing with us fans, the last thing we need is another player with a bad attitude. We’ve had far to many of these in the past

If Tiote isn’t sold in this window,It will be the next window.

I could deal with it if he goes to Man utd or Chelsea.

Id be gutted if he went to Liverpool or Spurs like.

Ben Arfa could play RW or left as he’s played brill there in France.

BelfastMagpie87 – I don’t think Roy fits our current transfer policy i.e. young – Roy must be about 57 at least 🙂
Rowan – I love the way you predict a clean sheet and then have a score prediction of 2-1 🙂
