Newcastle Watching Kenyan Defensive Midfielder

The Daily Mail is reporting that Newcastle are watching Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama,  as a possible replacement for midfielder Cheick Tiote.

Victor Wanyama – Celtic defensive midfielder

Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea have all shown interest in the former FC Twente midfielder, and if he goes in January,  Newcastle must be ready to bring in an immediate  replacement.

The 6’2″ Kenyan joined Celtic in July for £900K from Belgium club Beerschott , and he has so far played 20 times for the Glasgow giants with one goal, but of course we have no idea if this report has any truth to it.

The news is that Sunderland and Aston Villa were also looking at the 15 times capped Kenyan International, before his move to Celtic in the summer.

Before moving to Beerschott in 2008, Wanyama played in youth leagues in  Kenya and then in Sweden, but the  defensive midfielder  has come into his own at Celtic, and he only turned 20 years old last June.

If Newcastle are really  interested in the Kenyan, we have no idea how much Celtic would want for him, or whether they would even be willing to sell Wanyama in January, if Tiote is sold to one of the big clubs that are after him.

What do you think?

Celtic are my second team so watch a bit of them and this guy has been their best player by far this year. Has played at cb and cm for them and is an absolute monster. Would be a great signing for back up cb or cm and i have no doubts he’d be able to eventually replace tiote should he go at the end of the year

This is the same player who we turned down in the summer when the deal was all but wrapped up for £1million and he ended up signing for Celtic because we didnt get our fingers out

I have said since he signed vuckic was the best prospect at the club by a long way, he ooses class and has a very good shot on him but he isnt ready for the pl, in the same way sammy isnt ready. They need cameos at the end of games to learn when they have to make a run forward, when the have to drop deep, when to pass long and when to play it simple. Vuckic is alot closer to being ready thn sammy and if we had played him more in the chamionship instead of smith then he would be ready nw,
Davybtoon… Vuckic give it away a few times, the whole midfield was shocking at passing and marking,. Vuckic shooting was very good tho, i was sitting right behind the second one and it was dipping in perfect. Btw that ball ben arfa played to ba for his second goal was another world class pass, similar to the one against man city, noone expected it except ba and he finished it perfectly this time. Ben arfa has to play against bolton, best hasnt looked like scoring and isnt creating anything for ba and we are playing to much hoof ball with him on the pitch.
I would like to see 433 against bolton, ben arfa ba and vuckic up front with jonas cabaye and tiote behind. Hopefully santon is fit aswel because his pace was missed when he went off.

    Another thread lol

Btw today was one of the few times ive ever seen colo loose his cool, i thought he had got himself sent off with his tackle on odemwinge, that was a deliberate foul, few minutes before odemwinge was argueing with him off the ball and colo didnt like it so next tackle he got some revenge and thankfully a yellow not a red.

Oh god brutooon change the damn record…every time I see a comment by you it’s something to do with Perch, Ameobi or Obertan. Get a grip man will you? If you haven’t got anything worth reading to say…don’t write anything.

As for this guy….I’d still prefer Douglas or Samba….but I’ve seen him play a few times and he is pretty impressive

Don’t know if it’s just that picture but do you think he looks like oba martins? For that reason, I’m out! Haha. Only joking, seen him play once or twice this season and he looks an absolute unit, strong on the ball and in a tackle. Could do a job for us, both at cm and cd! Like perch… Haha. Sorry couldn’t help myself!

James Perch Stats (this is only when he STARTS) :

    2010/2011 as a RIGHT BACK
    – 2 win, 1 draw 4 loses and thousands of YELLOW CARDS

    2011/2012 as a Centre Back
    – 3 lose, 1 draw (concede 10 goals)

    Carling Cup 2011/2012
-Won against Nottingham but we concede 3 goals
-Lose against Blackburn where we concede 4 goals

Oops….I got one person wrong. Dude all you do is talk about how crap Ameobi and Perch are. Yet don’t give them any credit when they play well. Anyway…my error of stating you complain about Obertan doesn’t change the fact all you do is complain about a couple of players rather than discussing stats, the game, transfers etc etc like everyone else. No one wants to sit and read you constantly complaining about players

GeordieArt : you are wrong mate, if i were to choose i prefer Shola Ameobi to be our CB than Perch.

Discussing Stats : We didn’t win the last 5 games so we need to change our CB pairing (whoever he is)

The Game : We concede three goals, two of which are a result of our CB (whoever he is)

transfer : we need to sign a new CB to replace our current CB (whoever he is)

I didnt mention any name but i include all the thing u said

Just seen our next 3 fixtures I can’t see us getting any points from them. We could be in big trouble by the end of January especially with no Ba & Tiote.

victor wanyama is a michael essien in the making…very good defensively but also with an eye for goal and the occassional killer pass.he is a younger brother to MacDonald Mariga…Inter Milan midfielder now currently on loan at Real Sociedad. This guy has a lot of potential and I’ve seen him do the job for Kenya national team here in Nairobi.Am gutted with our performance at home last 2 games…we need 2 center backs asap.I hink we should alos start Ben Arfa whether he’s fit or not as Best looks poor at the moment…newcastle fan in kenya
